Sun Tea Recipes: Mint-Infused Iced Tea for Joy The reason I chose to share this simple recipe with you all is because it reminds me of a joyful time in my childhood. There weren’t many joyful times, but making sun tea with my grandmother was one of them. She had me go into her backyard and pluck wild mint to add to the tea and it was always delicious! Enjoy this sun tea for joy recipe! Ingredients: 6-8 Black Tea bags (depending on how strong you like your tea) Air-tight 1-2 liter container with lid Handful – fresh mint leaves Cup of sugar (optional) Instructions: Put tea bags, mint leaves, and sugar in air-tight container. Fill with water to the top. Close it with the lid and place outside in a place where the sun will hit it at the hottest part of the day – noon to afternoon. After an hour, pick up the container and flip/shake it. Leave for 1-2 more hours, until you see the color of the water change to dark brown. Bring inside, strain out tea bags and mint leaves. Pour over ice and put in the refrigerator. Drink when you need a refreshing boost of pure summer joy! Orange-Infused Sun Tea Recipe for Energy! Oranges are directly linked to the sun, and because of this any citrus fruit particularly oranges grant us the energy of the sun when consumed. Couple the orange slices with the green tea’s antioxidants and caffeine and you’ll have the perfect tea for energy! Ingredients: 6-8 green tea bags airtight 1-2 liter container with lid 4-5 fresh orange slices Cup of sugar (optional) Instructions: Put tea bags and sugar in air-tight container. Hedge Witch: How to Become the Likeness of the Snake (Powder & Ritual) https://otherworldlyoracle.com/snake-shapeshifting/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=snake-shapeshifting https://otherworldlyoracle.com/snake-shapeshifting/#comments Tue, 09 Apr 2019 18:12:05 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=2343 Snake crawls on the earth, rubbing its belly over soil, plant, and stone. It is a creature of the underworld and a guardian of mother earth, as well as healing and regeneration. When our souls leave our bodies to journey the astral realm, they often take on the form of snake. This happens spontaneously during sleep and dreamtime, but you can learn how to become the likeness of the snake for trancework, spells and rituals. Shapeshifting is a skill many hedge witches seek to learn and can master with time, study and practice. Here’s our method of shapeshifting into the likeness of the snake. Snake Magic & Medicine What are some reasons the hedge witch would shift into the likeness of the snake? Besides being able to easily transition to the astral realm, here are some examples of magic and medicine of the snake: regeneration, transformation, healing, wisdom from the gods, connection to Yggdrasil / the World Tree, seduction, kundalini. Craft the Snake Powder First, the hedge witch will craft a snake powder to wear on person while performing the shapeshifting ritual. You may substitute herbs for others, but make sure they are plants with a direct link to snakes or serpents, otherwise the ritual won’t be as effective. With any shapeshifting ritual, the witch or shaman always holds or wears a piece of that creature to create a physical and spiritual link to that animal. For example – when shifting into the deer, shamans wore headdresses with antlers. To become the likeness of an animal, one must be the animal. Snake Powder Ingredients: Snake skin (collected personally is best) Dried apple skin: what’s the first plant you think of when someone mentions a serpent? Many of us think of the serpent in the Garden of Eden and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil which is often depicted as an apple tree. Black snakeroot: the name should be a dead giveaway. Snakes hide in the roots. Horsetail (aka Bottle brush): historically used for calling snakes Hibiscus (substitute for any ground cover plant or bush in which you’ve seen snakes use as a hiding place or home) Mortar and pestle (or herb grinder) Small glass vessel (a necklace vial is perfect!) Snake Powder Instructions: Add a pinch of all ingredients to a mortar and pestle or grinder. Began grinding all the ingredients together in a clockwise fashion until it becomes a powder. This takes some time and effort so be patient. While grinding the powder, visualize the world from the eyes of a snake. Visualize what the snake can do for you magically. Keep your intention for shapeshifting in mind. Once the powder is ready, add it to the small glass vessel and seal it. How to Become the Likeness of the Snake You have your powder in the glass vessel in hand or on your person. Enter your alpha state of mind (be it through breathing technique, meditation, etc.) Shamanic drumming music is helpful but not required. It’s also helpful to have a photo of a snake or a live video on replay in front of you, if you have a hard time visualizing. (Though, if you’re attempting a shapeshifting ritual, you should have visualization technique down pat.) Think of yourself as the snake. See yourself in nature. It can be a forest, the desert, a meadow. Visualize yourself sleeping on the ground. Then see your soul leaving your body through your mouth in the form of a snake. You are the snake. You’ve left your human body behind. Feel what it’s like to have the earth rub against your belly. Feel the cold blood pumping through your slender, flexible body. The scales covering your body are your protection in the other realm. Chant/repeat the following throughout your shapeshifting ritual: Scale of skinBody of earthI am snakeI am serpent Allow yourself time to explore your surroundings as the snake, as well as get used to the feeling of being a snake. To return to your body, reverse the ritual. Picture your snake body returning to your physical body and re-entering through the mouth. Slowly come back to reality and be sure to ground your energy once complete by eating a piece of bread, drinking tea, or with a grounding technique. To Be Clear…You’re Still You! This shapeshifting ritual is for hedge witches who want to learn how to shapeshift and specifically want to work with the magic and medicine of the snake. You’re not inviting a spirit outside of yourself to enter your body, you’re projecting your own astral body into the astral realm in the likeness of the snake. So when the snake returns to your body, it is actually still you. I recommend practicing this ritual a few times to get a feel for your snake likeness before attempting full magical workings in snake form.

Witch’s Flying Ointment: A History & Recipes https://otherworldlyoracle.com/witchs-flying-ointment-a-history-recipes/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=witchs-flying-ointment-a-history-recipes https://otherworldlyoracle.com/witchs-flying-ointment-a-history-recipes/#comments Sun, 24 Mar 2019 18:19:19 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=2175 The image of witches flying on broomsticks is a misconstrued truth – witches “flew” using flying ointment. In this article, we’ll discover the history of flying ointments, provide flying ointment recipes, and teach you how to create your own flying ointment recipe. What is Flying Ointment? What is a flying ointment and what does it have to do with witches on broomsticks? The original flying ointment was an herbal salve, ointment, or oil that witches used to anoint themselves. The ingredients in the flying ointment when applied to the skin produced a trance-like state of mind. This shift in consciousness gave witches visions or sensations of flying in the sky, visiting remote locations, and communicating with the spirit world. Sometimes flying ointments were used to induce experiences of shapeshifting (changing into the likeness of an animal). Flying on Broomsticks? The women accused of witchcraft in Medieval Times were women who tended house: wives, midwives, servants, etc. And what do these people have in common? A broom! Seems only natural the broom was a representation of women and therefore became a witch’s tool. Another story suggests witches anointed their broomsticks with flying ointments and then anointed their vaginas with it (we’re not recommending that). There are flying ointment recipes dating back to the Dark Ages some witches still use today. Most of the old flying ointment recipes included an animal fat used as the base of the salve and infused with one or more toxic herbs. It’s interesting to note that witches “flew” on broomsticks when they were technically “high” on flying ointment. Flying ointment recipes in the Dark Ages included the following poisonous (baneful) herbs: henbane belladonna mandrake wolfsbane monkshood fly agaric cannabis poppy foxglove hellebore If you choose to study and recreate any of the old flying ointment recipes, most people will tell you to stay far away from the herbs above. They are all toxic in one way or another and have been known to cause sickness and death. But there are those who work with poisonous herbs and refer to this type of herbalism as the “poison path”. They claim baneful herbs also have their healing and otherworldly properties. DISCLAIMER: Always proceed with caution when using these herbs (and any herbs you are not familiar with). If you have any medical conditions, it’s best to refrain from using the herbs from traditional flying ointments (and as listed above). You are responsible for your own decisions and health. Flying Ointment Recipe #1 (Toxic) Poisonous herbs are marked with an asterisk * below. Wormwood Henbane* Belladonna* Poppy* Infuse three herbs in pure olive oil or sweet almond oil for at least two weeks, for up to a month (in an air-tight glass jar such as a Mason jar). You’ll want to use 1/4 herbs to 3/4 oil as a general rule for herbal infused oil. Shake the jar every day, twice a day. At the end of the 2-4 weeks, strain out the herbs and bottle the flying ointment oil. Anoint your chakras or your power points (third eye and back of neck/tip of spine) to induce a trance and take flight. Flying Ointment Recipe #2 (Safe) This recipe is not traditional or out of any ancient grimoire or Book of Shadows, it’s my personal flying ointment oil recipe. The herbs aren’t toxic but still encourage an alpha-state of mind. Sandalwood Mugwort Bay leaves Infuse three herbs in sweet almond or jojoba oil for 2-4 weeks in an air-tight glass jar. Follow instructions in first recipe above. Anoint power points on body: third eye, back of neck, under arms, tops of feet, chakra points, etc. Especially helpful to anoint before bed-time, as you may experience intense astral travel. Flying Ointment Recipe #3: Herbal Salve If you’re looking for a flying ointment close to the traditional, you’ll first make a flying ointment oil then use that as a base for an herbal salve. Herbal salves take longer to create but are worth the effort. The consistency is much thicker and will not drip or rub off as easily as an oil. Herbal infused oil of your choice beeswax or carnauba wax glass jar or tin container optional: vitamin E (to preserve) and essential oils (to add extra scent/energy) Combine the wax and herbal oil and set it on low-heat to warm over a double-boiler on your stove. Remove from the stove and add your optional Vitamin E and Essential Oils. Pour into glass or tin container. Allow your salves to cool totally before storing. Store it somewhere cool and dark, so as to avoid heating and re-solidifying the salve. Consistency of the salve depends on how much wax you use in your flying ointment. More wax equals a thicker consistency, less wax equals a looser consistency. Create Your Own Whether you’re a new or experienced herbalist, you can create your own flying ointment recipe. May we suggest to try making an herbal infused oil first. These are simplest when you are just starting out. Do your research. Find herbs you’d like to try, starting with the mild herbs to induce visions and trances (i.e. bay leaves, mugwort, etc.) You don’t have to pull out the big guns and make a flying ointment with belladonna first time. Ease yourself into flying ointments. Study and study and study. If something doesn’t work, don’t keep using it. Try something different.

EFFECTIVE Herbal Tea for Colds Recipe https://otherworldlyoracle.com/effective-herbal-tea-for-colds-recipe/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=effective-herbal-tea-for-colds-recipe https://otherworldlyoracle.com/effective-herbal-tea-for-colds-recipe/#comments Thu, 06 Dec 2018 09:00:20 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=1434 Let’s face it. Winter is here and we’re all vulnerable to the seasonal ickiness that comes along with it. The holidays are knocking on our doors, and so are colds and the flu. Sometimes we try everything to avoid getting ill, but ultimately it’s unavoidable. So, for when you happen to catch a cold, keep this herbal tea for colds recipe handy and pick up the ingredients now (if you don’t already have them in your cupboard). Now, will this tea cure your cold? I can’t assure it’ll cure it (it did for me but results will vary), but it definitely eases the symptoms. PLEASE NOTE: check with your doctor before going on any herbal regimens and also to be sure none of your medications interact with the herbs. Herbal Tea for Colds Recipe: Ingredients 1. Nettle (1 tsp):  Nettle is known to be high in vitamins C, B complex, and vitamin E. It’s been used for centuries because of its diuretic and healing properties. Part of the mint family, it energizes the body and helps to restore the body’s nutrients which most of us are sorely lacking. As a gentle diuretic, nettle is known to flush away toxins in the body and is said to be good for colds. 2. Elder Flower (1 tsp): Not only does it add a sweet, musky flavor to your herbal tea for colds, elder flower will decrease inflammation in sinus passages and the respiratory system. Herbalists have used elder flower for centuries for colds, flu, and other respiratory illnesses. It also has antibacterial and antiviral properties. In the Journal of Medicinal Plants Research, a study in 2010 showed elder flower to be effective against certain strains of bacteria including MRSA.  3. Yarrow (1 1/2 tsp):  Yarrow is one of those all-purpose healing herbs. If you keep any herb in your cabinet, let it be yarrow. It’s a featured ingredient in many herbal tea for colds recipes and has been for centuries. It has antiviral properties, as well as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Our ancient ancestors in Europe knew this and brought yarrow to the Americas, where it was used medicinally by the Natives for digestive problems as well as colds and flu.  4. Local Honey (1/2 tsp): Honey has been used for thousands of years, all over the world, for its health benefits. Not only does taking local honey on a daily basis help relieve seasonal allergies, it also helps to relieve sore throats, coughs, and colds. The honey you buy in a grocery store won’t do – buy from a local beekeeper and get it raw. Add a bit to your tea. Instructions: Add herbal ingredients to 8-10 ounces of steaming hot water. Let steep for ten minutes then strain. Add 1/2 tsp to 1 tsp of local honey to tea and drink hot. Drink herbal tea for colds recipe 2-3 times a day while symptoms last.

Here are the ingredients and their magical properties: Cinnamon:  brings success and money Ginger: associated with fire and amplifies magic Nutmeg: for luck Cloves: brings good luck and prosperity Allspice: increases determination Coffee: to speed up the results Adding Prosperity Magic to Your Pumpkin Spice Coffee Recipe Fall season is the season of the harvest which means it’s time to harvest the plants we’ve been growing all Spring and Summer. This is also a symbolic time to reap what we’ve sown in life, whether that be in our jobs, homes, friendships, etc. The Harvest season represents abundance and prosperity. If we think back to when our ancestors grew their own food in fields and garden, an abundant crop yield meant everyone stayed fed and healthy through the cold, winter months ahead. While combining the spices, be sure to stir in a clockwise-direction 3, 7, 9, or 13 times.
