Did you know you have your own personal spiritual team on the other side, cheering you on, protecting and guiding you? Maybe you’ve been seeing signs everywhere lately. On the bus ride home. In the lyrics to your new favorite song. You seem to be seeing one particular number so frequently you can’t ignore it anymore. Here we explore the 333 angel number meaning in love and in life. And hopefully clarify on some of the questions you’re having. First, What Are Angel Numbers? No matter who you are and what path you take, the Universe speaks to you. It’s just that most of us forget to pay attention. We forget to listen. Angel numbers, put simply, are messages sent to us by the Universe. But more specifically, this is when you start seeing the same string of numbers over and over again. And I’m not talking just once or twice. I’m talking, you’re seeing 333 and 33 nearly everywhere in a short span of time. Or perhaps even over a longer period of time. In 2012, when I went through a spiritual awakening, I saw 1111 on a daily basis in different places: on receipts, on the clock, through emails, phone calls, bills, etc. Angel numbers are sent to us by the universe, but also by our guides, ancestors, and our higher selves, typically in a time when we are going through a transition or transformation. Read on to learn more. Where You Might See Angel Numbers Just seeing the number 3 once or twice doesn’t make this an angel number, necessarily. So how will you know when it is an angel number you’re seeing? You’ll see 33 or 333 frequently and in random places. And you might say to yourself, why am I seeing this number everywhere? You’ll recognize it. Trust me. You might see 333 angel number on the clock. In fact, this is typically the most common space for angel numbers to appear. I believe this is because our guides and the universe know that our time in this life is limited, and they use the clock to remind us of that. In addition, you’ll see 333 on signs, billboards, license plates, receipts, bills, statements, bus and taxi numbers, route numbers, phone numbers. You might even hear someone say 333 in a fleeting conversation. Or land on page 333 in the book you’re currently reading. The ways in which angel numbers appear are endless because the universe is limitless! Who is Sending Me Angel Number 333? So I guess it stands without saying that angel numbers like angel number 333 are sent by angels themselves. But when we say angel numbers, we are actually referring to a whole wide spectrum of spirits and spiritual energy that may be trying to get YOUR attention. When you were born, you were assigned a team of spirit guides. These could be any or all of the following: guardian angel(s), ancestors, animal guides, deities, saints, ascended masters, star beings, other spirit guides and your higher self. So, truly, any one or more of your spiritual team could be using the 333 angel number meaning to reach out to you. To teach you something important that you’re not seeing by yourself. 333 Angel Number Meanings in Love There are a couple different ways in which the 333 angel number meaning in love could affect you. It truly depends on the individual and your unique circumstances. As you read the meanings provided below, be open to any possibility. But don’t over-analyze or second-guess what your intuition is telling you. 1. 333 Angel Number Means Love is Coming If we look at the root number in this angel number, which is 3, we see that this number means a positive outlook for your love life. It means, if you’ve been waiting for love, it’s coming your way! The number 3 has always been considered a sacred number in nearly every religion and spiritual path. It represents wholeness, positive energy, and universal love. Keep your eyes and heart open for a new love to come into your life! 2. If You Already Have Love in Your Life If you already have a significant other, and things are going well for you, seeing 333 angel number means your spirit team is happy with this relationship. Continue to grow and expand your understanding of love with your special partner. BUT, what happens if you have love in your life but it’s not a good one? What if that love is toxic? Keep reading… 3. 333 Angel Number = 9 and Mars Energy Here’s the thing. Everyone looks at 333 angel number and they forget that 3+3+3 = 9. So we have to take into account the number 9 for a 333 angel number meaning in love and in life. The number 9 is a positive number, but it also links to the planet Mars. What if your love life is suffering, or you’re in a toxic, maybe even an abusive relationship? Your guides are sending you this number to tell you the energy in this union is not positive. And it needs to come to an end. If this person is having a harmful effect on your life, it’s time to let go and move on. If they are angry towards you OR you towards them, it’s time to release and allow space for divine love. 4. 333 Angel Number May Mean You’re Acting Impulsively Again with 3+3+3 equaling 9, we have Mars energy in certain relationships which could mean you’re actively impulsively. Maybe you’re considering cheating on your SO, or your SO is already cheating on you. Now is the time to take a step back, re-evaluate the pros and cons of this relationship, and think about what growth is coming out of this. If there’s no growth, and the two of you are growing apart, it’s time to let go. IN THE SAME BREATH, if […]

Types of Mermaids Worldwide: 25+ Selkies, Merrows, and More https://otherworldlyoracle.com/types-of-mermaids/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=types-of-mermaids https://otherworldlyoracle.com/types-of-mermaids/#respond Sun, 23 Jan 2022 00:57:59 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7922 When I was a little girl, I wanted to be part of their world. Mermaids, that is. I swam in the pool, with my feet “fused” together, and emerged to the surface only to flip my long hair behind me. Just like Ariel. I was obsessed with all things mermaid. Following this Disney affliction (I mean, addiction), I spent years of my life researching and reading about these illusive mythical sea creatures. And I learned that there are literally dozens of types of mermaids…and they’re not just seen in Europe. They’re seen worldwide! First, What Is A Mermaid, Exactly? Are mermaids real? And what is a mermaid, exactly? These are questions that most little girls and imaginative individuals of all ages ask. There was a “documentary” some years back that gave us a glance into the supposed mermaid sightings worldwide. Unfortunately, most of the documentary was fabricated and it confused many of us. They portrayed mermaids as being real, corporeal beings with flesh and bone. I feel the problem with this depiction is that mermaids, mermen, and many other mythical sea creatures are in fact in the spirit realm. They are elementals. Guardians of sea and sky. And if they are in fact spiritual beings, this explains how they are able to shapeshift, traverse between worlds, and much more. 25+ Types of Mermaids Worldwide Mermaids are a comparative myth. This means multiple cultures, on nearly every continent, share similar legends about human-like sea creatures. Dating back thousands of years, we have archaeological proof of people’s belief in these mysterious beings. There were even gods and goddesses who were portrayed as part-fish, part-dolphin, etc. This list is by no means exhaustive, but I hope you learn something new! And, for clarification, any human-like creature whose home is the sea can be called a mermaid or merman. Mer-maid means sea-maid. 1. Alven (Ottermaaner): A Type of Elven Mermaid River Alven are an interesting type of mermaid found in The Netherlands. They are also called ottermaaner, meaning otter-men and are technically also classified as a type of elf. They are similar to the Selkie in that they shapeshift into otters using magical otter-skins (whereas the selkie shifts using seal-skin). Some say the Ottermaaner travel in bubbles, bobbing to and fro above the water. They are most commonly seen inhabiting the River Elbe. 2. Blue Men of the Minch The Blue Men of the Minch are the type of mermaid you don’t want to meet in person. They’re known for being violent and causing shipwrecks along the Scottish coastline. They’re also called Storm Kelpies. With blue skin and a craving for poetry, the Blue Men are sometimes linked to the ancient Picts of Scotland, who painted their skin blue. If you see a Blue Man, floating on top of the water, he’ll ask you to recite a poem to entertain him. If you refuse, he will turn over your boat or, unbeknownst to you, lead you to your death later on. 3. Camenae Speaking of gods and goddesses, the Camenae were Greek goddesses of the sacred wells and fountains. They were invoked to guard and guide women in childbirth and eventually became syncretized with the Greek Muses. The Camenae’s dedicated spring is located just outside the Porta Capena. The Baths of Caracalla sit in the valley that used to be covered in forests and springs. A site in which healing was given to those who sought it from the water goddesses. The Camenae were also known to prophesy. 4. Corrigans The people of Brittany, France descend from the Bretons, a Celtic people who also inhabited parts of the British Isles in ancient times. And we all know the Celts had strong beliefs in faeries and elementals. Corrigans, similar to Camenae, are a type of mermaid that inhabit smaller bodies of water in Brittany. Rivers, springs, wells and fountains are their home. They also share common qualities with Sirens: singing, combing their hair, and luring men to their deaths. Interestingly, they’re one of few mermaids that steal children and replace them with changelings. 5. Dracs: A Dragon Type of Mermaid in France No, we’re not talking about Dracula. Though the names correlate. The syllable drac means dragon. And so we have these French female water-serpents that shapeshift into anything they please including beautiful young women and dragons. Oddly, dracs also appear above the water as golden chalices…only to lure you to the water’s edge. When you reach in to grab the treasure, the drac pulls you under! This terrifying type of mermaid is seemingly related to the dragon-spirit Melusine. They’ve been seen in the River Rhone, but are also known to visit nearby towns searching for children and young women to steal. 6. Finfolk The first time I read about the Finfolk, I was utterly taken. These sea gardeners are best known in the Orkeny Islands for growing and tending to lavish underwater gardens. Finfolk appear to be of the same species as your typical mermaid or merman: half-human with the tail of a fish in place of legs. Finwives (female finfolk) are beautiful, have long hair, and were often kidnapped and forced to marry human men. Finmen (male finfolk) were less attractive, had dark countenances, and cause ships to wreck when their territory is threatened. Some stories say finfolk kidnap humans and take them to their underwater world, forcing them to marry and stay there forever. 7. Mal-de-mer: An Evil Type of Mermaid Yet another type of mermaid from Brittany is the Mal-de-mer. Their name translates to “evil of the sea” or malevolent mermaid. They are also accused of wrecking ships. Not surprisingly, mal-de-mer is also a term that means seasickness. 8. Mermaids and Mermen The longer I study mer-beings, the more I believe mermaid and merman are more general terms for human-like sea creatures worldwide. It’s a general classification. Similar to saying a blue jay is a type of bird. You’d also say a Drac or Corrigan is a type of mermaid. But, […]

Inanna Goddess of the Heavens: 13 Ways to Work With Her https://otherworldlyoracle.com/inanna-goddess/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=inanna-goddess https://otherworldlyoracle.com/inanna-goddess/#respond Sat, 15 Jan 2022 18:57:15 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7841 Inanna is one of the most primal ancient goddesses emerging from the Cradle of Civilization. Some know her as Ishtar or Inanna-Ishtar. Her worship is making a comeback in modern times. When she calls to you, you must follow. Her devotees believe she is gathering her children to her for a reason. Here we’ll meet Inanna, learn of her sacred ancient origins, and her characteristics. And we’ll learn how to work with Inanna Goddess of the Heavens, Love, War and Empowerment. Who is Inanna Goddess of the Heavens? Inanna is a goddess of ancient Sumerian origin, whose worship spread throughout the ancient Middle East to Akkadia, Assyria, Greece and Phoenicia (among others). Her name means “Lady of Heaven”, derived from ancient Sumerian word nin-a-nak. Her Semitic name is Ishtar; sometimes she’s called Inanna-Ishtar. She is often portrayed as a beautiful young woman with wings. Her sacred animal, the lion, accompanies her in her travels. Inanna carries her symbol, the eight-pointed star, in most manifestations. The Queen of Heaven sits upon a lion throne and holds a snake-scepter. Inanna’s named in many ancient myths including The Epic of Gilgamesh, Inanna and the Huluppu-Tree, and The Descent of Inanna. Goddess of Fertility, Love, Procreation, War, and Death: she is a complex Goddess embodying ALL aspects of the divine feminine. Ancient peoples who went against the gender-binary were cult members. She is a goddess who brings self-empowerment, protection, love, strength and abundance. She will aid in your spiritual endeavors and will also help heal and bring to light your shadows. Inanna is a fierce goddess who dominated the gods’ realms, boldly journeyed through the Underworld, and acquired her innate wisdom from the god Enki. Inanna is linked or associated with other goddesses: Astarte, Ashtoreth, Aphrodite, Demeter, Persephone, Athena and Venus. Inanna’s Magical Associations Domain Symbols Offerings Animals Love Star of Inanna Wine Lion War Owl Figs Dove Fertility Snake-scepter Dates Snake Justice Rosette Incense Dolphin Sex Hook Reed Beer Dragon 13 Ways to Work With Inanna Goddess of the Heavens The relationship you develop with Inanna will be unique to you. How you experience Inanna Goddess of the Heavens might be completely different from another of Inanna’s followers. No one way is the right or perfect way to connect with the Divine. But here are some suggestions to get you started with this powerful Sumerian goddess: 1. Study Inanna in Myth The first way to get to know a deity is to learn everything you can about them. Read their myths, legends, and lore online and in mythology books. I highly recommend a library trip to get your hands on books you might not find elsewhere. For Inanna, read The Epic of Gilgamesh, The Descent of Inanna and Inanna and the Huluppu-Tree. But also look for Sumerian mythology, as well as Semitic in your research. 2. Dedicate Sacred Altar Space to Inanna Inanna the Goddess of the Heavens appreciates a sacred space in this dimension in which to rendezvous with her followers. Give her a cleansed, clear and beautiful altar space to visit when you invoke her. It doesn’t have to be anything extremely elaborate, though I feel Inanna probably enjoys beautiful things. A small shelf with a candle, incense and incense burner, an offering cup or bowl and a few crystals would do the trick! She particularly likes lapis lazuli. Purify the altar space and dedicate it in her name. 3. Provide Regular Offerings Just as you would give gifts to your friends and significant other, give gifts to Inanna. We call these offerings. Regular offerings show the Goddess that you care and are thankful for her presence. Some believe offerings feed the spirit with energy to aid in your workings. Inanna enjoys any foods that mimic ancient Sumerian fare including figs, dates and wine. Any dish with garlic, onion, beans and dairy. In addition, she enjoys homemade cake, craft beer, fruit, incense, perfume and artwork. She is also long associated with wool, meat and grain. 4. Star-gazing With Inanna, Queen of the Heavens Inanna is called the Queen of the Heavens, so a great way to honor her is simply to look up. Become a star-gazer. I enjoy using a star app on my phone, in which I point to a star and it tells me the name and info. If you want to get really fancy, purchase a good telescope and explore the Heavens in Inanna’s name. She is also known as the personification of Venus, so pay particular attention to this planet when star-gazing. 5. Visionary Journeying Inanna travels to the Underworld and returns to the heavens in more than one ancient myth. It’s beneficial to your spiritual growth, as well as favorable to Inanna, to partake in visionary journeying. This is a form of meditation that requires practice and discipline and has the ability to take you to other planes of existence. Some of us do this in our sleep when we astral project and travel to other dimensions. Ask for Inanna’s guidance and protection when you journey. You can use drumming as a trigger (more on the drum later). I don’t recommend journeying to the Underworld, if you’re a beginner. But once you’ve become adept, take the journey with Inanna from the Underworld and to the Heavens. 6. Justice Workings The Ancient Sumerian Goddess of Love is also a goddess of war and divine justice. We see this sacred polarity in nearly all ancient goddesses who hold great power. Inanna is no different. In one tale, she is assaulted by a gardener and “unleashes her fury” on him thereafter. This goddess is a no-mess-around type of woman. Her wrathful side emerges when provoked by greedy, violent men. She is a protector of abused women and can be called on in times of need. Justice workings are within her domain, as well. 7. Drumming and Dance In the myth “Inanna and the Huluppu-Tree”, Inanna is gifted a drum made from her sacred tree. And because Inanna is also […]

444 Angel Number in Love & Twin Flames: 10 Reasons You’re Seeing It https://otherworldlyoracle.com/444-angel-number-in-love-twin-flames/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=444-angel-number-in-love-twin-flames https://otherworldlyoracle.com/444-angel-number-in-love-twin-flames/#respond Thu, 13 Jan 2022 03:11:38 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7879 Lately the number 444 has been following you everywhere, it seems. Why are you seeing this number repeatedly? Does it have any spiritual significance? In our experience, numbers play a crucial role in spiritual enlightenment, as well as in connection between two souls. Here we’ll discuss the basics of angel numbers, and define what the 444 angel number means in love and with twin flames. First, What is an Angel Number? An angel number is a repetitive number that your guide or the universe uses to send you a message. These are typically the same number, two to four in a row, that show up nearly anywhere in your daily life. Most people go through life on autopilot, not paying attention to all of the little signs our spirit guides send us throughout the day. So, in order to get our attention, they will sometimes send us the same number over and over again until we notice. In the metaphysical community, angel numbers may be sent not only by spirit guides and the universe but also by our guardian angels, ancestors, deceased loved ones, star beings, elementals and more. Some numbers even correlate specifically to messages about love and to our twin flames. Next, What is a Twin Flame? I find there’s a lot of misunderstanding as to the true meaning of a twin flame. Twin flames happen when two souls are conceived by the universe at the beginning of their cycle. Just as you can be born with a twin in this physical realm, you can be born with a soul twin in the spiritual realm. But here’s the deal – not everyone has a twin flame. If you don’t have a twin flame, it doesn’t mean you’re any less than someone who does. Everyone’s souls are WHOLE individually. We are in the Universe, and the Universe is within us…making us whole with or without a twin flame soul. Signs You Have a Twin Flame Twin flames are connected to one another via an unbreakable energetic cord. Even when one twin flame is living in the physical, and the other in the spiritual, that cord is still present. It cannot and will not be severed. This is a connection between souls unlike any other. Twin flame relationships can be nearly any kind but most often are romantic relationships or close friendships. If you have a twin flame, you might notice some of these signs: you feel like you’ve known this person forever (even when you first meet them) this person feels like the exact opposite of you, yet you share multiple things in common (sort of like a puzzle piece that you’ve been missing) you’ll want to spend every waking moment with this person develop an intense relationship, especially if romantic often twin flames are “first love” relationships that end dramatically even when you’re far away from each other or haven’t seen in each other in years, you’ll carry strong emotions for this person your twin flame randomly appears in your dreams (see dreamwalkers here) numbers 4, 44, 444 and 8 will come up frequently in relation to your twin flame to learn all about twin flame signs and symptoms click here 10 Reasons You’re Seeing 444 Angel Number Everywhere The meaning of 444 angel number in love and with twin flames will vary by person and situation. What it means to you might be completely different from what it means to me. Ultimately, you have to determine for yourself what message the universe (or your twin flame) is sending you. But here are a few messages to consider: 1. Your Twin Flame is Thinking About You I’ve noticed whenever angel number 44 or 444 is popping up, it comes along with other signs. This gets me thinking about my twin flame and in turn I realize my twin flame is thinking about me. Maybe you hear your “song” and look at the clock and it says 4:44. 2. Your Twin Flame is Sending You a Message In addition to your twin flame thinking about you, when angel number 444 repeats itself, it could mean your twin flame is sending you a specific message. Sadly, many of our twin flames don’t incarnate with us in every life. They are often on the other side, guiding us from the spiritual realm. Sometimes they like to send messages of comfort, hope, and love using angel numbers. If you feel you have a twin flame, but have never met them in this life, it might be that he or she is your actual spirit guide. 3. You’re getting ready to meet the love of your life In numerology, number 4 means stability, strength, confidence, and security. If you’ve been waiting to meet the love of your life and 4, 44, or 444 angel number shows up…you’re getting ready to! You’ve waited a long time to meet someone who will love you for who you are, and now they are just around the corner. Waiting to meet you! The meaning of 444 angel number in love is almost always an exciting and positive sign. 4. Angel Number 444 Reminds Us of Self Love Sometimes we forget the importance of self love. This is a 444 angel number message that comes up time and time again for all of us, especially those of us who have twin flames. But why? Because we tend to give our energy and love away to everyone else and neglect ourselves. We think because we have twin flames that they’ll love us unconditionally. But when do we learn to love ourselves unconditionally? It’s likely that your twin flame, if incarnated at the same time as you, will not be in your life until you have learned true and deep self love first. 5. 444 and 44 Angel Numbers in Love = Infinity We’ve discussed the meaning of the number 4 in numerology, but there’s more to the 444 angel number. You’ll notice 44 shows up in relation to your […]

111 Angel Number Meaning: 12 Reasons You’re Seeing It Everywhere https://otherworldlyoracle.com/111-angel-number-meaning/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=111-angel-number-meaning https://otherworldlyoracle.com/111-angel-number-meaning/#respond Sun, 09 Jan 2022 23:53:27 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7862 Numbers play a huge role in our lives. They are literally woven into everything we do. The universe functions on numbers, and because our souls are part of the universe, we do too. Often the universe speaks to us via signs. And sometimes these signs are numbers. Maybe you keep seeing 111 or 1111 everywhere lately. Here we talk about the 12 reasons and ultimately try to define the 111 angel number meaning. First, What Are Angel Numbers? Put simply, angel numbers are three or more numbers in a row that frequently make an appearance in your life. But these aren’t just random numbers. They hold meaning because of where they originate – from the spirit world. The universe and our spirit guides speak to us through signs, and sometimes numbers are the easiest way to get our attention. Perhaps your spirit guide tried to send a hawk to you, but you never look up at the sky. So they send you a sign on your phone, alarm clock, and wherever else they can reach you with angel numbers. Angel numbers typically have different meanings, depending on the number. But why are these numbers so powerful? The Power of Numbers and Numerology It blows my mind to try to think back to the first person who counted on his or her fingers. How did they realize that numbers even existed? Did they wish to quantify something but didn’t know how? Did the universe guide their thinking even then? Scholars believe the first form of math was counting on fingers, then came tally marks on stone or in sand, etc. Tally marks for counting purposes date back at least forty thousand years, then came ancient numeric systems via glyphs. Our mathematics system today is thousands of years in the making and far advanced. And we truly have the universe to attribute it to. Numbers aren’t just practical. They’re spiritual. And the reason we are examining angel numbers to begin with. Believe it or not, in Medieval Times, some mathematicians were accused of witchcraft! Astronomy and astrology both go hand-in-hand with numbers for a reason. Think about just how powerful the number 13 is – a large portion of the population believe 13 is unlucky. Some people are so afraid of it, they have triskaidekaphobia. Airplanes skip the number 13 in rows, and many buildings call floor 13 fourteen instead. Just as a number can cause strong fear, numbers can also evoke strong feelings of love and enlightenment. 111 Angel Number Meaning: 12 Reasons You’re Seeing It Everywhere Everyone’s experience with angel number 111 will vary. You might not attribute the same meaning to it as your friend. That’s because we are all different in mind, body and soul. We are all connected, but your experience of human life and spirituality is completely unique to you. That being said, here are some of the 111 angel number meanings we know of: 1. A New Opportunity Awaits Breaking the number 111 down to its most basic root, we have the number 1. Numerology defines number 1 as the basis for all experience and opportunity. One possible 111 angel number meaning is new opportunity. This could be a career change for you or a new path in your spiritual journey. If you’re seeing 111 or 1111 on your way to a job interview, this is a clear cut sign. Be open to receiving the message. 2. Your loved one is telling you they’re all right While the 111 angel number meaning can carry specific lessons, I’ve found it also carries a broader statement. Our loved ones on the other side also use number signs to speak to us. And sometimes seeing the angel number 111 and 1111 means simply that your loved one is saying hello. And that they are okay. I’ve had numerous ancestors and loved ones use this form of communication from the other side. And it always brings a smile to my face. 3. An ancestor is near Conversely, this number appearing also means your ancestor or loved one might be near. Have you ever found yourself saved from a dangerous situation and immediately see 111 or 1111? Your ancestor was there looking out for you. This angel number indicates their presence. For example, once I had a brush with death on a highway. A man pulled behind me and nearly caused me to wreck going speeds over 65mph. Eerily, after I swerved and just missed him, my daughter and I saw a black cloud follow the man’s car down the highway. We breathed a huge sigh of relief and felt something wash over us. Looking at the clock on the dashboard, it said 11:11. I knew immediately it was my loved one who intervened and saved us from catastrophe that day. 4. 111 Angel Number Means MANIFESTATION We all have desires in life. When these desires never come to fruition, they’re called wishes. When they actually happen in real life, it’s called manifestation. Have you ever needed something so bad that you wished for it, imagined it, almost tasted it? Then it happens in real life and you wonder how on earth you made that happen? The angel number 111 will appear in situations like this, if you’re paying attention. It means your higher self and guides manifested exactly what you needed at that time in your life. 5. Your guardian angel is watching over you Similar to feeling your ancestor’s presence when this number makes an appearance, your guardian angel will also use 111 to make itself known. And in this instance, we see why they are called “angel numbers”. When you were born, you were assigned your own personal guardian angel. That guardian angel stays with you and watches over you your entire life. They may protect you from dangerous situations, aid in healing during times of sickness, and comfort you in the worst of times. And if you need a boost of faith, send you angel number […]

Loki Norse God: 13 Ways to Work With His Paradoxical Energy https://otherworldlyoracle.com/loki-norse-god/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=loki-norse-god https://otherworldlyoracle.com/loki-norse-god/#comments Fri, 17 Dec 2021 21:25:39 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7784 Truthfully, I’ve just started working with Loki. But he’s prompting me to write this. To sort of help set the record straight and encourage others to work with his energy. Admittedly, when he first came to me…I was scared. With all of the bad stories I’ve heard, and the chaos he’s caused the Aesir, I was remiss to allow him into my life and practice. But the small amount of time I’ve spent with him has already changed my mind. So, without further adieu, here’s a different take on the god Loki and ways to work with his paradoxical (and FREEing) energy. Hail, Loki! Who is Loki Norse God of Mischief? Loki is a god in Norse and Germanic mythology whose very name stirs debate in the pagan community. Maybe you’ve seen his character in the Marvel movies. Maybe you’ve even seen people online saying how destructive or deceitful he is. Honestly, my experience with him has been the opposite. Is he mischievous? YES. Will he play pranks to get your attention? YES. But I feel there are deep reasons for this. Mainly because it takes something powerful to get most people’s true attention. Secondly, because he is a god of mischief and destruction…yet through the destruction he brings creation, enlightenment, and love. Like a fire that ravages a forest. Feared yet necessary. It brings a purging, clearing, then exuberant new life. According to the Eddas written by Snorri Sturluson, Loki is a god that will cause a war known as Ragnarok between the Norse gods. Basically, he is the cause of the end of the world. Throughout Norse mythology, we see Loki being a friend, and in the same breath, a trickster and sometimes-foe of the Aesir gods. He frequently causes problems with the gods, stirs sh*t up, and then comes back to save the day. But why? Loki is the epitome of the Divine Paradox. He is…and he isn’t. He’s male, then he’s female. Then he’s an animal. He’s foe, then friend. Interestingly, he’s also credited as the reason the Aesir gods are gifted with powerful weapons and magical tools. Odin’s magical spear Gungnir and Thor’s hammer Mjolnir, for example. Loki is much more than a trickster. He’s much more than the god of mischief. Writing him off as this ONE thing is a big mistake on our part. Keep in mind, Odin calls Loki his brother, calling him blood of his own blood. And Thor needs Loki as a traveling companion for reasons we can only try to comprehend. He may also be a creator god….one who was there during the creation of man. In another guise – Lodur. Doesn’t it make sense that a destructive god would also be a creator god? There’s that divine paradox. Loki: Origin Theories If we explore the origins of gods, we are taken back to a time before gods were gods. In the most ancient of times, they were noble ancestors, elementals, land guardians, spirits of the hearth, river nymphs, and dryads (to name a few). Over time, as people evolved from tribal societies into larger villages and nations, these local elemental spirits were elevated to a more godly status. How many land and hearth spirits have been forgotten over time, I wonder? Well, not Loki. One theory is that Loki was originally a hearth spirit. More specifically, a fire elemental that was worshiped at the hearth in Northern Europe. From my experience, this theory fits him. How did Loki go from a fire elemental hearthside, to Norse god, to demonized villain in modern times? We look to the rise of Christianity. My belief is that his worship was once widespread, and while we don’t have written evidence of this, there are archaeological signs. And because the Church had to turn the people away from their pagan ways, they demonized Loki. He was and still is equated with the Christian super-villain “Satan”. We’ve lost a lot of Loki’s original lore, and I also believe the redeeming stories have been forgotten and therefore erased. By design. Maybe you’re thinking but the Eddas and Sagas show his true qualities. Yes, but the Eddas and Sagas were written mostly by Snorri Sturluson. Who was raised Christian. And, not to throw too much judgment around, but this religion has a track record of erasing and bending stories to fit their agenda. Remember, the person who could read and write had all the power in those days. Sturluson could have completely changed the myths to fit his Christian outlook. And here we have people today taking his word as THE word. We have to look deeper than surface level. Loki’s Magical Associations Colors: black, yellow, green, gold, red, orange, violet Days: Friday the 13th, the 13th of each month, Autumn Equinox, Samhain, Yule Animals: snake, falcon, spider, horse, fly, flea, salmon, vulture, wolf, fox Stones: obsidian, black tourmaline, black onyx, garnet, citrine, serpentine, carnelian God/Goddess Consorts: Hel, Angrboda, Sigyn, Thor, Odin, Sleipnir, Fenrir, Jormungandr Other pantheon’s deities similar to Loki: Pan, Cernunnos, Dionysus, Bacchus, Anansi, Lugh, Hermes, Mercury, Elegua, Eshu, Prometheus, Veles, Coyote and Crow Herbs: mistletoe, mint, patchouli, tobacco, cinnamon, clove, holly, cedar, juniper, elder Magical Domains: chaos, destruction, creation and creativity, fire, shapeshifting, blacksmithing, cooking, discovery, trickery, protection, paradox, taboo, shadow work, catalyst, cunning, seduction, passion, primal instinct Star: Sirius “Loki’s Torch” Symbols: infinity snake and ouroboros, number 8, chaos star, runes that spell out his name: Laguz, Othala, Kenaz, Isa 13 Ways to Work With Loki You will know, undoubtedly, if Loki is calling you. Aine Celtic Goddess of Love & Summer: 11 Ways to Work With Her https://otherworldlyoracle.com/aine-goddess/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=aine-goddess https://otherworldlyoracle.com/aine-goddess/#respond Tue, 14 Dec 2021 18:50:22 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7762 Is the Goddess of love calling to you? Aine (AHN-ya) is an Irish Celtic goddess who rules over love, fertility, summer, the self, the sun, wealth, agriculture, and the moon. Aine literally means bright, joy, radiance, and splendour. She is a goddess full of energy and generosity but can also bring justice through intellect when necessary. So, how do you work with Aine? Here we discuss who Aine is and how to work with her in your magickal practice. Who is the Celtic Goddess Aine? Like many Celtic deities, Aine is known by many names and her lore is woven in and through many mythological tales. Most prominently, Aine is known as the Faery Queen of Munster whose home resides at Cnoc Aine. Munster is a province in Knockainey Co. (also named after the goddess) in Southwest Ireland while Cnoc Aine is her sacred faery hill. Aine is depicted as wearing a flowing yellow dress and having long red hair held in place by a headband full of stars. This is a nod to her association with both the sun and the moon. She also has shapeshifting abilities and is seen on occasion as a red mare, Lair Derg.   Aine’s Deity Associations: Mortals and Gods Aine is present in many myths and is associated with a wide variety of mortals and deities within Celtic lore. In some stories, she is said to be coveted by the human Earl of Desmond who won her over with a magickal cloak. In others, it is said that the Earl forced himself upon her and in return she bit his ear so that he could no longer retain his power (you could not hold a position of power if you were physically imperfect). And still in others, it is said that instead of violence, she strikes a deal with the Earl that ultimately grants her freedom from the Earl. However, in every version of the story, the two produce a son who becomes ‘The Magician’ (some speculate Merlin himself). She is also heavily associated with the sea God Mannan Mac Lir in one format or another. Her exact association remains shrouded in mystery. Some myths claim she is his wife. Others claim she is his daughter. And in a third version of the myth, she is the daughter of Lir’s foster son.  Aine, the Celtic Goddess’ Domains Aine taught her human children how to love one another and how to express that love. She teaches sovereignty, bestows gifts upon her followers, and rules over land, sea, and sky. Aine is associated with the sun and moon, fertility, love, sex, agriculture, livestock, prosperity, abundance, luck, summer, wealth, healing, water, and air. Ways to Work with Aine, Celtic Goddess of Love & Summer Aine, like all the Fae, can be elusive. She favors farmers, women, lovers, mothers, musicians, magicians and healers. There are many ways to work with this Goddess of ecstasy, but here are our favorites: 1. Litha, Lughnasadh, and Summer Summer is the season of Aine. She is most present during the summer solstice aka Litha and Lughnasadh. It is sacred to honor her on these holy sabbats as well as for the two days after Litha. However, as a representative of the sun, Aine generally hangs around during the summer months until the winds begin to change when she becomes far less active and turns inward with the mother nature. 2. Love, Sex, Fertility and Sensuality Though Aine’s stories are complex, they all reflect that she was a goddess of many lovers and many children – most of which were half human. Aine is the supreme goddess to call on for love and fertility (or conception) spells. She has the unique power of being a goddess who can help attract a partner or cause chaos to an unwanted lover. She also can bring misery to those who mistreat women just as she did to the Earl when she bit off his ear and forced him to give up his throne. In some folklore, she is referred to as the Leanan sidhe which translates to faery lover. The Leanan sidhe was known to take human lovers and inspire them in exchange for their unwavering love and devotion – an almost vampiric relationship. 3. Dedicate Altar Space to Aine Having an altar space dedicated to Aine gives her a gateway into this world. Things you can add include horseshoes, horse/swan/rabbit figurines or photos, The Moon or The Magician Tarot card, or a harp.   4. Altar Offerings for Aine In addition to keeping space for her, giving offerings is another great way to work with her, as with any deity. Aine loves any instrumental music (she plays a harp that can inspire others or drive them mad), meadowsweet, honey, lavender, menstrual blood, as well as corn and grain in any format. 5. Animal Stewardship Because Aine is a ruler of livestock, animal stewardship is looked upon with favour. Feeding, breeding, and caring for livestock all fall under this category. Aine is especially partial to cattle and horses.   6. The Harp Aine loves playing her harp. When it falls on deserving ears, it leaves its listeners in a state that is one of divine inspiration. When it falls on undeserving ears, her melodic symphonies drive humans to insanity. Listening to or learning to play the harp is a huge honor to Aine. 7. Full Moon Esbat Rituals The most powerful time to invoke Aine in ritual is during a Full Moon. Healing, love, childbirth, creativity, prosperity and abundance work during the full moon when Aine is invoked are extremely potent. The Full Moon is also indicative of the mother aspect of the triple Goddess. Aine is certainly a mother, and she is part of a triple goddess archetype with her sisters Fenne and Grainne. 8. Manifestation Magick with Aine Aine is a goddess of great generosity. She is a goddess of agriculture, fertility, and abundance. It is said that she bestowed grain upon the first people […]

Winter Gods and Goddesses: Berchta, Odin, Cailleach, and More https://otherworldlyoracle.com/winter-gods-goddesses/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=winter-gods-goddesses https://otherworldlyoracle.com/winter-gods-goddesses/#respond Fri, 19 Nov 2021 19:18:12 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7628 Why do we have feasting, gift-giving, and share merriments during the Winter? Our ancestors needed a light-hearted approach and break from the brutal Winters of the past. Before electricity and modern conveniences, our ancestors had to endure the cold, hunger, sickness and more. They celebrated the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, because it meant the sun would return the next day. Winter was also a season to honor seasonal deities including those who personified Winter and those who represented death and the sun. Here are our 12 favorite Winter gods and goddesses from various pantheons for the 12 days of Christmas. 6 Winter Gods This list of Winter gods merely scratches the seasonal surface. Nearly every culture that experienced a Winter, and particularly harsh Winters, had their own version of Winter deities. Some were even regarded as Winter personified. 1. Odin (Wotan) Santa Claus…or Odin the Allfather? Let’s just say Odin has been a part of the Winter festivities since long before Santa Claus was a thing. Yet they look awfully alike, don’t they? Santa drives a sleigh led by 8 reindeer. Odin flies on his trusty eight-legged steed Sleipnir. Both Santa and Odin slip down chimneys and give candy and gifts to the children. In Germanic lore, Wotan (Odin) led the Wild Hunt which is a spiritual cavalcade of sorts that flies through the sky on Winter nights. Sometimes the Wild Hunt collected lost souls and sometimes a person joined the Wild Hunt in their sleep (via astral projection, no doubt). In Nordic countries, the people gave sacrifices to Odin in the Winter months to ensure safety and prosperity. Don’t take Odin out of Christmas, folks. 2. Jack Frost: A Norse & Anglo-Saxon Winter God Turned Folkloric Figure While Jack Frost might not technically be considered a “god” to some, he is a powerful spirit in his own right. Jack Frost is the personification of frost, ice, sleet and snow. In England and the Nordic countries, people used to say that Jack Frost had visited when patterns of frost were left on their windows. Many believe he was once a Winter god that became demoted to a folkloric figure over the centuries. He regained popularity in the late eighteen-hundreds and took on a more elemental-trickster type personality. He may be the same spirit or an offshoot of Old Man Winter. 3. Bacchus and Dionysus Yes, the Greeks had their Winter gods too. As did the Romans. Bacchus is the Roman equivalent to the Greek god of wine, Dionysus. While he’s most well-known for ruling over wine, Dionysus is much more than that. He presides over the cycles of life, death and rebirth. This god is a divine shaman and teaches his devotees ecstatic trance, untamed primal wildness, and much more. His feast days are throughout the Winter months: Dionysia at the end of November, another feast day one month later, then again in January and February. Because of this, he is considered a Winter god to some. I don’t mind a little wine and a party in the Winter time. 4. Ullr: The Norse God of the Winter Interestingly, many Norse pagans venerate Ullr as a Winter god. Yet scholars say Ullr is never mentioned as a god anywhere in the Eddas. But more of a mythical figure. I say, just because Snorri wrote it, doesn’t mean it was the full truth. There’s archaeological evidence of a large shrine in Sweden to suggest Ullr was indeed honored as a god by the people. But whatever you believe, Ullr is a divine figure of some kind that brings the Winter season to his people. His domain also includes skiing, snow sports, and the Northern lights. Legend says the spray from Ullr’s skis created the Aurora borealis. Read more about Ullr here. 5. Boreas: The Winter God of the North Wind Boreas sounds like a nice Winter god to work with, but be warned. He’s also known as The Devouring One. He is the spirit of Winter and can be both violent and benevolent. Depending on the person and situation. The Greeks believed he came from the North, being the North Wind, and because of this was considered Thracian in origin. He’s depicted with two faces – one in front and one in back. Judika Illes surmises this means he can see the past and the future. I believe it means he has a benevolent and malevolent side and is always “watching his back”, so to speak. 6. Morozko Get to know this old Winter god’s true nature by reading Katherine Arden’s Winternight Trilogy. He is featured as a complex character in this book series, and personally, one of my biggest book crushes of all time. Morozko is a Russian fairy tale and his name means Father Frost. The Story of King Frost is featured in Andrew Lang’s Yellow Fairy Book and tells this Winter deity’s tale. In other tales, he is called Ded Moroz and is an East Slavic version of Santa Claus and St. Nicholas. He brings presents to well-behaved children in the Winter months, particularly on December 31st. 6 Winter Goddesses Any goddess that personifies Winter, Death, or the Winter holidays may be honored at this time of year. There are certain pagan deities that have been venerated on the Winter Solstice for centuries, but remember you can make your Winter sabbat your own. Here are 6 of our favorite Winter goddesses from various traditions: 1. Berchta I believe Berchta was inspiring me to write this article about Winter deities…possibly so she can get her name out there again. I don’t mind promoting her. She’s a wonderful Winter goddess to work with and honor in your practice. Who is Berchta? She’s an ancient Germanic (possibly Celtic) Alpine goddess who has been honored in Germanic Winter festivities since time immemorial. She was considered a goddess of the dead, specifically of children and lost souls, who was demonized by the Church in the Middle Ages. They turned […]

What Do Bats Symbolize? Lore, Magick, and the Bat Spirit Guide https://otherworldlyoracle.com/what-do-bats-symbolize/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=what-do-bats-symbolize https://otherworldlyoracle.com/what-do-bats-symbolize/#respond Thu, 11 Nov 2021 18:28:51 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7603 An ever-present creature that often gets overlooked or forgotten. Yet so prevalent in our lives through literature, movies, TV series and truly ingrained in our psyche. The bat. I’m talking about that fuzzy denizen of the night. That hangs upside down to sleep during the day. You know the one that vampires supposedly shapeshift into? What happens if you start seeing bats everywhere? In this article, we take a journey into the proverbial cave, into the night, to answer the question what do bats symbolize? Plus talk about the bat spirit guide and the magick it brings into one’s life. First, Let’s Meet Our Friend the Bat. I always thought of bats as the creepier, nocturnal cousin of the bird. However, the bat isn’t a bird at all. Bats are actually mammals, which means the bat is closer in species to human beings than a bird is! They are vertebrates and feed their young via mother’s milk. They are nocturnal, meaning they sleep during the day and are active at night. The bat roosts upside down in a tree, cave, barn, or anywhere they feel comfortable to perch. What’s amazing to me is that the female bat can bend upward and outward before taking off to fly from an upside down position. Bat yoga, anyone? Bats are found literally all over the world. There’s tiny bats and extremely large bats. Bats can fly up to sixty miles per hour and use echolocation to communicate and find their food in the dark. They live a long life for a flying mammal – up to thirty years. Bats are also important to the production of certain fruits like avocadoes and bananas. Why? They help pollinate many plants and spread the seeds so that more can grow. I bet you never thought bats were pollinators! But I could sit here and give you fact upon fact about bats and it still wouldn’t change the way some people feel about them. Depending on the culture and country, bats are either revered or extremely feared. And if you ask me, sometimes they’re downright adorable. Have you ever heard of the flying fox bat? Large but cute AF. Let’s dive in and figure out exactly what do bats symbolize? What Do Bats Symbolize? On the Eastern side of the world, bats are considered good luck to many cultures. They ward off disease naturally by being a major predator of the mosquito (an insect that carries disease). To that note – the bat can eat up to twelve-hundred mosquitos per hour! This is why you’ll see folks putting bat houses in their backyards. So number one, bats are GOOD LUCK despite what Western society may have you believe. Bats Represent Our Shadows Coming to Light But here’s the thing with bats. The message from these guys takes us deep. Deep into the caves of the human psyche, if you will. The bat’s message goes beyond simply “good luck”. It takes us within ourselves, brings to light our shadows. The bat aids in exploration of the hidden self, and also a potential spiritual side you’ve been hiding. They are most definitely a symbol of the occult, frequently associated with vampires, demons and dark entities (which we will explore further later). Bats Symbolize Transition and Initiation Transition is a big part of the bat spirit guide’s message. Bats are a symbol of death to the old, a bringer of the new. From the dark to the light. When we let go of the old self, when we explore and shine a light on our shadows, we are harnessing the essence of this nocturnal animal. Bats are liminal creatures, which means they exist somewhere between here and there. Straddling the line between the spiritual and physical. They’re earthly creatures (being mammals) yet are the only mammals with the ability to fly. They move between the earth and the air with ease. If you’re seeing bats frequently, it might be a time of transition and initiation for you. Only you can determine what that means to you personally. What Do Bats Symbolize? They Represent Using Primal Instincts Don’t forget that bats use their keen senses to move around in the dark, to navigate, communicate and locate prey. So when wondering what do bats symbolize, we can add that they represent tuning into and using one’s primal instincts. Maybe you’re going through a period of sorrow or darkness or you’re in need of protection. A way to the light. The bat is telling you to use your instincts to navigate the darkness. To find your way home. Bat Folklore and Superstitions Bats roost in caves, trees, and other places close to the heart of Mother Earth. For this reason, and because they’re indeed special creatures, I believe they were sacred to ancient priestesses, seers and healers. But when Christianity rose to power, bats were demonized along with many other once-holy creatures. Artists began painting pictures of bats with Satan, demons, and witches. In Medieval Europe, people thought bats were demons or witches in shapeshifted form. According to Judika Illes, “in 1322, Lady Jacaume of Bayonne, France was publicly burned at the stake as a witch. The evidence? Swarms of bats had been observed flying about her house and garden.” Interestingly, bats were also thought to be miniature dragons at one point. They lived in caves and their wings were similarly shaped (though they didn’t breathe fire). I find this particularly intriguing, because I see dragons as being representative of all elements. And, we see in China, bats are representative of their elements and the five blessings: longevity, prosperity, health, righteousness, and a natural death. The major bat superstitions known in the Western world are that bats drink blood and they become entangled in women’s long hair. We have to dispel these myths: even vampire bats don’t go after humans they feed on sleeping animals AND NO bats don’t get tangled in your hair. This was an old wives’ tale told to girls […]

Queen Medb: 9 Ways to Honor the Celtic Goddess of Sovereignty https://otherworldlyoracle.com/queen-medb/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=queen-medb https://otherworldlyoracle.com/queen-medb/#comments Thu, 07 Oct 2021 17:59:19 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7361 Queen Medb. Her name evokes complex emotions in those who know her. Vilified in Irish myth, yet today a goddess of strength and women’s sovereignty. Who exactly is Queen Medb and is she a deity of whom will benefit modern practitioners? In this article, we look at this complex Celtic Goddess’ origins, history, and share 9 ways in which to honor her in your pagan or witchcraft practice. Who is Queen Medb, a.k.a. Maeve the Goddess? In the Irish mythical Ulster Cycle, Queen Medb makes a ravaging appearance. And unfortunately, she is not portrayed in a necessarily “good” light. In the Ulster Cycle, Queen Medb is a promiscuous queen of of the Irish kingdom Connacht. And in the Cattle Raid of Cooley, she desires a magical stud bull of the Ulster kingdom. So much so that she ignites a war in attempts to acquire said bull. Her name, Medb (pronounced meadh), translates to She Who Intoxicates and is directly linked to the word mead (a wine made from honey). Yet Medb is much more than her name and the tales indicate. In looking at her personality at surface level, we miss her greatest aspects: Maeve the Goddess of War, Sovereignty, Female Strength, Sexual Freedom, Independence and Power. Maeve Goddess’ Magical Associations and Qualities Country/Region: Connacht (Western Ireland) Domain: Earth Powers: War, Death, Fertility, Sex, Ecstasy, Strength, Sovereignty, Empowerment, Shapeshifting Animals: Crows, Birds, Wolves, Cows, Pigs, Squirrels and small woodland animals Allies: Ailil Other Goddesses: She may be an aspect of The Morrigan Enemies: Cu Chulainn, Forbaide, Conchobar Mac Nessa Colors: Red Offerings: Mead, Water, Cake, Cream, Ale, Alcohol, Irish foods NOTE: NEVER offer her cheese! 9 Ways to Honor Queen Medb, Maeve the Goddess Queen Medb seems to be calling to more and more modern witches and pagans. Particularly if you are a woman learning to claim your personal power. Maeve the Goddess is also drawing her children near, for she is an ancestral deity of the (Irish) Gaelic-Celtic peoples. If you have Irish ancestors from Western Ireland, specifically Connacht province, you may claim Queen Medb as a divine ancestor. But whether your family tree descends from Maeve or not, she is willing to work with those who are worthy of her intense lessons and fierce energy. Here’s 9 ways to work with or honor Queen Medb. 1. Research and Study Queen Medb First and foremost, I always recommend reading and researching your gods thoroughly. Read the Ulster Cycle and Cattle Raid of Cooley, as they are the traditional texts that feature Maeve as Queen of Connacht. Research her lore online and in libraries. Read The Irish Queen Medb: History, Tradition and Modern Pagan Practice by Lora O’Brien. Don’t just stop at what you find online. Ask people who might know more about Irish lore and paganism what they’ve read and how to further research this Celtic goddess of war. 2. Set Up An Altar I always tell people, you don’t have to set up an altar for every deity. But if you plan to honor a god for a significant period of time, you should. Provide sacred space for Queen Medb somewhere in your home. A small altar on a nightstand, kitchen counter, or bookshelf is perfect. Decorate with her sacred colors red and black and add animal figurines like the crow or bull. Add an image or statue that represents Maeve. Include candles, incense, bowls and cups for offerings. 3. Regular Offerings Give regular appropriate offerings to Queen Maeve. She particularly loved honey mead and wine. Basically any alcohol (since her name means to intoxicate). Other traditional offerings might include water, cream, cake, tea (specifically with entheogenic herbs like mugwort or damiana), bread, and Irish foods. By no means should you ever offer CHEESE to Queen Medb. More on that later. Actions like learning weaponry, crafting items for her, poetry and song are also appropriate. 4. Brewing Mead for Queen Medb If you’re feeling extra creative and crafty, try your hand at brewing mead at home. Purchase an entire mead-making kit online and start out small. Choose honey that’s been collected locally OR ship it in from Ireland (Medb’s homeland). Throughout the brewing process, pray over the mead in Queen Maeve’s name and dedicate the action and result in her name. When you’ve made your first batch, offer the first glass to her. You could even name the brew after her. 5. Faery Magick Sadly, over time, Maeve the Goddess became an “evil” mythical figure, then was demoted (so to speak) to a Fairy Queen following Christianity. And while she should be exalted as a true deity, honoring her fae nature isn’t necessarily a bad thing either. Learning how to work with the Sidhe (the faeries) of Celtic lore also means learning how to work with Maeve herself. Since she is also considered a Queen in the Fairy Realm. 6. Claim YOUR Sovereignty Sovereignty means independence, rulership of one’s OWN kingdom. And when we work with Queen Maeve’s intense independent energy, we learn to claim our own personal sovereignty. This means the right to make decisions for ourselves. Not to allow others in our lives to control us or our decisions in life. Medb is an empowering goddess for those who seek to claim their power. For those who have been suppressed by others in any form. So claim YOUR sovereignty over your life and invoke this goddess’ energy. 7. Visit Her Sacred Sites There are more than a few sites in Ireland that are associated with the Intoxicating One. Research these sites and if you can travel to Ireland, visit her sacred places. Queen Maeve’s grave on the summit of Knocknarea is perhaps the most famous supposed burial place. There’s also a slab in County Roscommon believed to be the Queen’s grave. Or visit Cruachan in Connacht, as this was Maeve’s kingdom. As well as the Hill of Tara. 8. Cheese Fasting Say what? Fasting from cheese? How does this have to do with the Maeve goddess? […]
