About

These days it seems we have many people claiming to be witches and spreading misinformation on the internet. Because of the false gurus out there, we here at the Otherworldly Oracle would like to be as transparent as possible and make known our knowledge and experience in the craft as well as our educational backgrounds.

The Otherworldly Oracle (aka Kitty):

From a young age I felt a connection to nature that the people around me seemed to miss. My first love of nature came in the form of trees and plants. Instinctively, I knew to use aloe vera from my grandmother’s garden to soothe a skinned knee. I also knew spring onions made a tasty snack, as well as honeysuckles, sunflower seeds, and tomatoes right off the vine. My grandmother taught me to identify wild mint and infuse it into sun tea. I had dream after dream of flying, going to other places, and talking to otherworldly creatures like trolls, wolves, and half-animal half-human beings. In my teens, I came across a book in a thrift store: Power of the Witch by Laurie Cabot. I quickly realized what I was and studied all I could get my hands on (which was difficult at that time because Wicca wasn’t popular nor encouraged in a small town in America in the early 2000’s). I taught myself how to cast a circle, draw down the moon, and communicate with nature spirits and ghosts resident in my home at the time.

When I was twenty years old, I was initiated into an eclectic Wiccan coven of 13. I enjoyed congregating with people of like mind and kindred spirit. We celebrated an entire Wheel of the Year together, then unfortunately, went our separate ways. Since then, I’ve practiced in secret, and more recently in the open, for the past eighteen years. I’ve taught others how to walk the path of the witch, and I’ve performed numerous house cleansings and past life readings. In 2016, I studied and became attuned to Usui Reiki and was certified a Level 2 practitioner. I use Reiki nearly every day on myself, family members, in my craft and in the garden. Today I enjoy studying the complex roots of witchcraft, Witch Trial history, American folk magic, folklore, and mythology. I am currently learning the Elder futhark runes and focusing on green and kitchen witchcraft. Spiritually, my practice is heavily based on my ancestors: honoring them with an altar and offerings, praying to them, and generally including them in my daily life.

Educationally, I studied Science and received my Bachelor’s Degree in 2017. I’ve written 2 technical manuals, 4 fictional novels, multiple magazine entries, and over 500 online articles. I’ve won a few awards for my folklore pieces, as well as been invited to international writing conventions for my work online.
