Moon phases, rituals and moon water. But what about the witches who prefer the sun? Do they exist? Yes, we do! I know because I’m one of them. If you feel empowered by the sun more than the moon, you might be a solar witch. And if you’d just like to incorporate more sun magick into your practice, we’ve got you covered! A Solar Witch & The Sun’s Magick What makes the sun magical? Is it the same type of magick as the moon? The sun fuels all life on this planet. While the moon has a huge effect on us, and pulls the tides, I’d venture to say the sun is more important. If I had to choose one. (Lunar witches don’t be mad at me!) The sun is necessary for many reasons including the growth of plants and trees, for our own physical and mental health, and to keep our planet warm and alive! Sun = LIFE. 11 Ways to Make SUN MAGICK The way the solar witch makes sun magick is only limited by imagination and inspiration. Forge your own path, but if you need ideas: 1. Sunbathing Lunar witches love to dance in the moonlight. Conversely, solar witches love to SUNBATHE. A solar witch is fueled and energized by sunlight and warmth. In fact, solar witches often become depressed or ill without enough sunlight. Feeling down, sick or disconnected? Get out in the sun! 2. Magical Timing With the Sun The great thing about using the sun for timing spells and rituals is that you don’t have to wait for the moon phase to change. Sunrise, Noon, and Sunset are all powerful times to make magick. As are the days of the week. 3. Sun Water You’ve heard of moon water? Sun water is the same concept. Take a glass jar or bowl, fill it with water, and place in the sunlight to be charged. You can add a piece of citrine to further enhance the effects. Then use sun water in your spells, to cleanse and empower your tools and altar, add to the bath, etc. 4. Sun & Fire Plants For years I thought I had a black thumb. Then I realized the plants I could grow were ruled by the Sun or the Fire element (which is an element of the Sun). Plants ruled by the Sun include sunflowers, daisies, chamomile, rosemary, Saint john’s wort, cinnamon, rue, and many more. Grow, harvest and use them sun-linked herbs in your Solar witch practice. 5. Seasons & Sabbats Another way to honor the sun and incorporate it into your craft is to celebrate the sabbats (pagan holy days). The sabbats are holidays all centered around the position of the sun. And they correspond with the seasons. Change your altar with the seasons and sabbats AND make seasonal magick. 6. Sun Magick with Colors An easy way to make sun magick is with the use of colors. Orange and yellow are the colors of the sun. Wear the sun’s colors, decorate with them, and include the sun’s colors in your spells and rituals. 7. Sun Tea Sun tea – not only is it delicious, but it’s fun to make and WITCHY. This is literally tea brewed by the power of the sun. Get out a glass jar with an airtight lid. Fill it with water and herbs of your choice or teabags with added herbs like mint, stevia, chamomile, etc. Meanwhile visualize your intentions for this batch of tea. Then set it in direct sunlight and leave for a few hours for the sun to brew. Pour over ice and voila! 8. Solar Plexus Your solar plexus is arguably one of the most important chakras in your body. It’s located in the center of your torso just below your breast plate. It is the center of your vitality, your connection to the Sun, and your source of self confidence and esteem. Work on aligning and reopening your solar plexus with meditation, eating healthy, and personal affirmations. Solar witches have strong solar plexuses. 9. Sun Salutations The solar witch starts the day out with yoga sun salutations, sunrise positioning, and/or runic stadhas like the sowilo stadha to honor the sun. In addition, moving your body in tune with the sun promotes a healthy lifestyle, vitality and peaceful mind. 10. Sun Arts, Crafts, and Cooking In my opinion, the best way to make sun magick is with arts and crafts. The solar witch enjoys crafting sun catchers, sun prisms, and mosaics. Of if you prefer kitchen witchery, cook a dish infused with plants linked to the sun. Or bake sun bread. If you love to draw or paint, create something inspired by the sun and infuse your intentions into it. 11. Solar Deities for the Solar Witch If you want to dedicate your spiritual practice to the sun, consider working with a sun god or goddess. Solar deities include: Belenus, Amaterasu, Helios, Apollo, Hathor, Bast, Surya, Xihe, Tapati, Mithra, Shamash, Sol, Sunna, Lugh, Ra and Sekhmet. More MAGICK to Make! Witches Black Salt Recipe + What is Witches Black Salt Used For? https://otherworldlyoracle.com/witches-black-salt/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=witches-black-salt&utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=witches-black-salt https://otherworldlyoracle.com/witches-black-salt/#comments Mon, 27 Jul 2020 21:50:43 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=5390 Salt is the most magical ingredient you have in your kitchen. Hands down. Sea salt and Himalayan pink salt are great for protection and purification and so much more. But have you heard of witches black salt? Here we teach you how to make black salt and its many magical uses. What is Witches Black Salt? Witches black salt is a mixture of regular salt and one of two things: ashes or cast iron scrapings. This is not to be confused with exotic Indian black salt. There are different ways to make this powerful mixture, and many ways to use it. First, let’s learn how to make it. How to Make Witches Black Salt: Easy Recipe Here’s what you’ll need: Sea salt (one half cup) Ashes (1/4 cup): collected from your firepit, fireplace, OR smudging remnants OR cast iron scrapings (1/4 cup): from your cauldron or cast iron skillet (the second option if you don’t want to use ashes) Black pepper (1 tsp): OPTIONAL Black powdered food dye OPTIONAL: some witches like to amplify the color of the salt and add powdered black food dye. I prefer to keep my black salt as natural as possible, so I typically leave this out. My mixture is already lack without it. BUT it’s up to you! How to make it: Put all ingredients into your mortar. Mix and grind your salt and ash or scrapings together in a clockwise fashion, while visualizing your intentions. You may need to add more ash or scrapings, depending on how black you want your salt to look. Bottle it and label it. What is Witches Black Salt Used For? First, because the salt is black, color becomes a part of the magic. The color black represents mystery, but in witchcraft is used for banishing, binding, protection, and warding. If you added black pepper to your witches black salt mix, this amplifies the black color magic within. Notice a pattern with the ingredients below? To answer the question, what is witches black salt used for? Put simply: purification, protection, and warding. Black Salt Ingredients’ Magical Properties Next, let’s look at each ingredient in witches black salt and define its magical properties. All of which have either purifying or protective qualities: Sea salt: used by witches for years to purify, protect, and ward off negative energy and spirits. Made by the sea and therefore carries the power of the sea Ashes: if you use the leftover ash from your smudging rituals, this ash contains the purifying power of whatever herb it came from (sage, rosemary, lavender are some examples). Ashes are also used in healing rituals – when a forest burns to the ground, the ashes heal the earth and encourage new growth. Cast Iron Scrapings: iron is a traditional tool for protection. Fairies are warded off by iron, as are evil spirits. It’s a strong, grounding metal, and therefore adds these properties to the witches black salt. Black Pepper: black pepper is similar to salt in its properties. It’s purifying and protective. Ways to Use in Your Magic You know how we love to use salt for nearly every magical reason under the sun? Witches black salt isn’t much different! But remember – you can’t eat this kind of black salt!!! There are SO many uses for this powerful mixture. Here are just a few: Spread black salt over your thresholds and windowsills to protect the home from negative energy and dark magic Encircle a candle to contain the energy within OR to amplify your intentions: best for banishings, bindings, reversals Add to banishing, binding, and warding spell bottles, bags, jars, and sachets Draw a circle around you on the ground/floor during ritual for protection Keep bowls of witches black salt around the home to ward off negativity and spirits Use as a floor sweep (sprinkle all over the floor then sweep/vacuum it up) to remove stubborn negative energy or spirits More Magical Recipes: Dream Spell Bag: Enhance Your Dreams With This Spell Bag Budget Self Love Shaker Jar Ritual TUTORIAL 3 Simmering Potpourri Recipes for Home Protection Spells

3 Ocean Spells and SIMPLE Beach Magic Rituals and Charms https://otherworldlyoracle.com/ocean-spells/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=ocean-spells&utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=ocean-spells https://otherworldlyoracle.com/ocean-spells/#comments Tue, 17 Mar 2020 14:05:12 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=4888 Whether you live near the beach or spend your vacation on the beach, there’s magic to be done, witches! The water calls to us to use our intuition, embrace our emotions, and increase our psychic abilities. Here we provide you with 3 powerful ocean spells and ways to do SIMPLE beach magic rituals! 3 Powerful Ocean Spells The ocean is like the heart – wild and unruly sometimes, sometimes contained and introspective. It all depends on the day and weather. We have so much to learn from Mother Ocean. She lends us her intuition, dreams, psychic abilities, secrets, and spiritual transformation. There are so many ways to use the ocean in your magic; moreover, here are three of our favorite ocean spells: 1. 7 Waves Cleansing Ocean Spell We all know how important cleansing spells truly are. They rid us of negative energy that may tear us down spiritually or physically. For this ocean spell, all you need is yourself, the sunrise and the ocean. Wake up before the sun comes up. Go to the ocean and when the sun rises, wade into the water until your deep enough to dunk under. As the sun rises, allow seven ocean waves to crash over you, cleansing you of all negativity and sorrow. 2. Sand Castle Intentions Ocean Spell This ocean spell is effective for nearly any magical intention. All you need is yourself, a shovel or two, and the sand on the beach. While at the beach, make a sand castle. While you build the castle, visualize your intention: drawing love to you, a new job, a peaceful home, prosperity, etc. The castle you’re building is your intention…your goal. Build it close enough to the water that when the tide comes in, it will take the sand castle to sea. When the ocean takes the castle, it’s also taking your intentions to manifest. 3. Footsteps in the Sand Ocean Goddess Dedication Spell This ocean spell is specifically for those who want to dedicate themselves to the goddess of the ocean. Leave your footprints in the sand where the ocean will sweep them away. With each step, say or think, “Mother Ocean, I dedicate myself to thee. I walk in your footsteps. I invoke your power and glory. So mote it be.” SIMPLE Beach Magic Rituals, Charms, and More In addition to the simple ocean spells provided above, there’s SO much more magic the ocean has to offer. Here are a few ideas to get you going: 1. Beachcombing for Magic Supplies One of my favorite things to do at the beach is to gather magical supplies. Seashells are an obvious, yet powerful choice for many reasons: they draw love, fertility, abundance and more. Sand from the beach can be used in candle spells, put in spell bags and bottles, and used to draw ritual circles for ocean workings. Driftwood makes beautiful wands and other witchy tools. Sea glass is gorgeous in a bowl on the altar or around the house. I’ve even seen people make jewelry and mosaics using sea glass. Don’t pass up a shark’s tooth, feathers, or crab shells either! 2. Set-up/Tear-Down Beach Magic Altars Witches leave their house and want to know how to take their altars with them on vacation. It’s easy…make a natural set-up/tear-down altar! On the beach, use things like seashells, driftwood, feathers, twigs and more to build a small, natural altar. Bring a few tools in your beach bag (such as a tarot deck) to use at your beach magic altar. You’ll find the energies at the beach are strong, and the spirits are willing to speak. When you’re done, you can tear down the altar or leave it! 3. Undine and Mermaid Invocation If you’re a true sea witch, you’ve probably been drawn to mermaids and water elementals since childhood. While you’re at the beach, why not invoke their energy with this beach magic ritual? How to invoke an undine or mermaid: bring an offering with you to the beach. Something liquid and natural is best to keep our ocean clean! Honey, rose water, an herbal infusion, or wine is perfect as an offering. As you pour the offering into the ocean, chant/repeat the following, “mermaid of the deep, accept my offering, awaken from your sleep, grant me your sight and psychic abilities. By the power of the ocean and three times three. So mote it be.” DIY Beach Magic Charms Some of my favorite tools have come from the beach. Select a piece of driftwood as a wand, add seashells, lace, and pearls to it along with carved symbols to make it your own. If you look close enough, you can also find seashells with holes in them. These are awesome to string onto necklaces, dreamcatchers, witch’s ladders, and much more! Coral with holes straight through and stones with holes are called hag stones. These are used to see into the spirit realm during ritual and bring the bearer good luck! Chamomile Magic: 8 Ways to Use Chamomile in Your Craft https://otherworldlyoracle.com/chamomile-magic/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=chamomile-magic&utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=chamomile-magic https://otherworldlyoracle.com/chamomile-magic/#comments Sun, 15 Mar 2020 16:03:23 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=4861 One of my all-time favorite witchy herbs is chamomile. I’ve always loved chamomile tea, and when I began practicing witchcraft I realized how many magical uses chamomile has! In this article, I’ll provide you with chamomile’s magical properties and associations, as well as give you eight ways to use chamomile magic in your craft. What is Chamomile? Chamomile is a white flower in the daisy family and is found all over the world. It’s most popular for its use in herbal teas as it has a pleasant flavor. Its name, chamomile, means earth apple. The two most popular forms are German and Roman chamomile. It’s also used to make essential oils, in folk medicine, and in the craft for its magical properties. Chamomile Magic Properties and As Medicine Chamomile is considered a flower and an herb, and it has medicinal and magical properties. Its magical properties are often associated with the magic of the Sun: prosperity, masucline energy, growth, and confidence. In addition, chamomile magic properties include good luck, money, dreams, love, and warding off negativity. Chamomile’s medicinal properties are many, including to bring on restful sleep, relaxation, to ease sinus infection symptoms, and to improve digestion. I’ve used it many times to aid digestion and calm stomach ailments of all kinds. 8 Ways to Do Chamomile Magic Chamomile magic is only limited by your imagination and creativity. It’s one of my favorite herbs for a reason: it’s versatile and you can easily purchase it online in bulk OR find it in the grocery store tea or herb/spice aisle. Here’s eight ways to do chamomile magic: 1. Chamomile Tea This is the most obvious way to do chamomile magic. Drink it as tea! What makes chamomile tea magical? All of chamomile’s magical properties PLUS your intention while drinking it. Drink chamomile tea to boost your self confidence, personal power, and self esteem. Also drink chamomile tea to draw money or love to you, OR simply to have a good night sleep. 2. Chamomile Candle Magic Chamomile is great to use in candle magic. Use the loose leaf chamomile flowers OR chamomile essential oil. Anoint your candle with oil and roll in the dried herb OR anoint with essential oil. This aids in bringing love, good luck, money and good fortune. Or encircle a candle with chamomile flowers for Spring and Summer magic. 3. Chamomile Magic Dream Pillows I’ve stuffed dream pillows with chamomile and then had wonderful restful nights of sleep. Chamomile can also be added to sachets and placed in the pillowcase to resolve bouts of insomnia. When mixed with mugwort in a dream pillow or bag will increase prophetic dreams. 4. Chamomile in the Bath Another wonderful magical use for chamomile is in the bath. Add a bit of chamomile to your ritual bath to cleanse your aura, align your solar plexus, and ward off negativity. It’s association to the sun will leave your aura glowing! 5. Magical Simmering Potpourri Ever tried a simmering potpoutti on the stove? It’s as simple as putting a pot of water on the stove, adding herbs and spices, and allowing them to simmer. The simmering infusion puts off steam and aroma into your space, also releasing any magical properties of the herbs. Add a handful of chamomile to a pot of water and let it simmer. A great way to cleanse your home of negative vibrations in the Summer! 6. Chamomile Magic Handwash If you’re a gambler, or play a game with your hands, try making a chamomile magic handwash. This is a tradition in folk magic for gamblers to attract money: simmer chamomile on the stove or brew a cup of chamomile tea. Then let it cool and wash your hands in the chamomile water before leaving to gamble or play your games. It brings such good luck! 7. Offerings to Sun and Egyptian Gods Chamomile was used in ancient Egypt for medicinal reasons and in the mummification process. Therefore, chamomile in any form is an appropriate offering to the Egyptian gods. Use it as an offering to sun gods and goddesses like Helios, Apollo, and Amaterasu. Chamomile oil can be used to anoint an Egyptian god or goddess statue or altar and tools! 8. Chamomile Floor Wash or Sweep I’ve made floor washes and sweeps using chamomile that have always brought my family good fortune and health. A floor wash is simply an infusion of herbs made on the stove, then cooled and used to wash the floor with your intentions. Add chamomile to a floor sweep with mint and basil, sprinkle it over your business’s floor, and allow it to sit for awhile. Then sweep it up and visualize money flowing into your business. Witch’s Broom: History, Magical Uses & How to Make a Besom https://otherworldlyoracle.com/witchs-broom-besom/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=witchs-broom-besom&utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=witchs-broom-besom https://otherworldlyoracle.com/witchs-broom-besom/#comments Mon, 30 Dec 2019 20:51:56 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=4371 Witches are nearly always depicted with their trusty broomsticks. Brooms, also called besoms, have a long history in magic and continue to be used today. Here we discuss witch broom history, magical uses and how to make a besom yourself! Why do witches use brooms? For as long as there have been witches, witches have used brooms. But why? In the Dark Ages, many women were accused of witchcraft…and a broom was a household tool women used on a daily basis. In Witch Trial documents, witches who “confessed” to witchcraft admitted to using their brooms to fly to their sabbaths. It’s also said witches anointed their broomsticks with flying ointments and inserted the broomstick into their vaginas. This topical ointment contained hallucinogens which resulted in witches visions of “flying” or potential astral projection. Magical Uses for the Witch Broom Aside from flying ointments, the witch broom has one main magical purpose – to purify. Physically, we use brooms to sweep away dirt and debris. Magically, we use brooms to sweep away negative energy in our home and sacred space. Some traditions require a witch’s broom to be dedicated solely to magical cleansing, whereas another broom is used for house cleaning. In American folk magic, the same broom is used for house cleaning AND purifying a space. The witch’s broom can be used to cleanse your space, your home, and even a person or object of negative energy. In addition, the witch’s besom will function as a wand and brings prosperity and peace in one’s home. You should NEVER sweep on a Monday, else you sweep all your money away! How to Use the Witch’s Broom to Cleanse Your Home To cleanse your home of negative energy, take your witch’s broom and start at the back door. Sweep each room, moving in a counter-clockwise fashion from room-to-room, then ending at the back door where you started. Sweep any debris out the back door OR dump your dustpan out the back door. To dump or sweep dirt out the front door invites negative energy back in. How to Cleanse Your Sacred Space with a Besom Similar to how you cleanse your home with the witch’s broom, you can cleanse your sacred space before ritual. Instead of touching the bristles to the floor, sweep slightly above it and move in a counterclockwise, circular pattern. Counterclockwise “un-does” things AND clears negative energy. If you dedicate one besom to your magical practice, keep it near your altar. Keep your witch’s broom bristles pointed up and next to the front door to welcome good fortune into the home. Old Witch’s Broom Magic and Lore: If your broomstick falls over, company is coming Jumping over a broom signified marital union in the Old South Never sweep under someone’s feet, it causes bad luck An “invisible broom” was removed from the house of Sarah Good, according to the testimony of William Batten and William Shaw during the Salem Witch Trials Some traditions say to sweep from west to east then throw the dust out the back door The witch’s broom is used to summon winds for weather magic – throwing a broom into the air off a cliff summons the wind while burning one stops the wind Lay a broom under the bed for protection There’s a Chinese broom goddess who presides over the weather – her name is Sao Ch’ing Niang The child’s antique toy hobby horse is linked to the witch’s broom The straws of a broom are thought to have magical powers and are used in healing spells Jumping over a broomstick 9 times will bring a suitable spouse within one year Laying a broomstick across the threshold ensures only good visitors come by How to Make a Besom Learning how to make a besom isn’t difficult. It’s best to collect the supplies from your own garden or a natural place like the forest or fields. What you need to make a besom: A branch or stick between 1/2 and 1 1/2″ in diameter, approx. 3-4 ft long (serves as the handle – should be relatively straight unless you want a crooked besom. Sand the stick down if you prefer a smooth handle) Plant material such as lavender, rosemary, broom, rue, cedar, pine, pepper tree (this will be the bristle part of the besom) Raffia or twine (approx 3 ft in length) Hot glue and glue gun Scissors Accessories (optional): charms, pendants, ribbons, etc. (to personalize/decorate your besom at the end) How to Make Your Besom: Gather your materials. Set the mood with incense and music. Start by tying the raffia/twine around the bottom of the stick a few times, hot gluing it in place, and leaving the ends loose to tie around the plant material. Take 5 or 6 pieces of plant material (or more) and place it circularly around the stick, then wind the raffia/twine around it a few times (use the hot glue to adhere the raffia/twine to the plant material). During the process, visualize purification in the form of white light radiating from your besom stick and bristles. Then repeat the last step by placing more plant material over the others and then tying the raffia/twine around it. Repeat until you feel your besom’s bristles are full enough. Then push the loose raffia/twine under the last few loops and tie it tight. You can hot glue the raffia down again, if you’d like. Now decorate your besom with ribbon and charms, if you feel called to do so. Hold the besom between your hands and close your eyes. Visualize using the besom for purifying your sacred space and dedicate the besom in the name of your god/ancestors/universe, etc. More Magick: Traditional Witch’s Tools My 10 Most-Used Witchcraft Tools How to Cleanse and Charge Your Altar

Holy Water: Types, Magical Uses & How to Make Your Own Holy Water https://otherworldlyoracle.com/holy-water-magic-diy/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=holy-water-magic-diy&utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=holy-water-magic-diy https://otherworldlyoracle.com/holy-water-magic-diy/#comments Sat, 28 Dec 2019 04:55:42 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=4329 Holy Water has been used for centuries by the Church and many other religions to christen, purify and ward. It has a divine power all its own and is mentioned often in magical recipes, witchcraft rituals and other spiritual practices. Here we discuss the magic and strength of holy water, the different types, uses and how to make your own. What is Holy Water? Water is known as the universal purifier. Nearly every religion views and uses water as a cleansing agent – both physically and spiritually. To the Catholic and Anglican Churches, holy water is water that’s been prayed over and blessed by a priest. However, holy water predates Christianity by thousands of years. It’s traditionally used in Eastern religions like Sikhism and Hinduism. In modern times, pagans and witches also have use for this sacred ingredient and may make their own or acquire it from a sacred place in nature. Which brings us to the types… Types of Holy Water Depending on the religion, there are different types of holy water. What makes them different from each other is where they originate or how they are made. The Church often makes theirs by having a priest pray over it. It could come from a spring or other holy location OR from a bottle or faucet. It is often the prayer or blessing of the priest that makes the water sacred in the eyes of the Church. Blessed By Location However, holy water collected from certain sacred places is blessed without the need for a priest. Mountain spring water, water from a sacred ancient well, and river water are types of holy water. If the water is from a location sacred to the church, the church may title it as holy. For instance, water from the Jordan River is deemed holy. To those who belong to Hinduism, it may come from a sacred temple. And if you’re a pagan or witch, water from natural sources may serve as holy water in your practice. Or you may perform a ritual to create your own (more on this later). Saints’ Days Another holy water tradition is to gather rain water on Saints’ days. Because the day is holy and linked to the Saint, the rain water will therefore be blessed. Rain water gathered on Holy Thursday “Ascension Day” is also considered sacred. To Pagans and Witches Examples of pagan or witch’s holy water include water from a sacred mountain spring, river, or well. It could also be water that’s been charged under the Full Moon (also called moon water) or a lunar or solar eclipse. Wiccan covens often have their own recipe and at its most basic is spring water with salt added to it. Whether a ritual is done to bless the water is up to the individual or coven involved. Uses for Holy Water First and foremost, water is a purifier. Sprinkle it over yourself or on a friend to cleanse the aura. Soak yourself in a bathtub and add this ingredient to remove hexes or curses. Spray it from a bottle around the house to cleanse it of negative energies. It purifies, heals, and banishes all at the same time. Purifies a person via baptism and/or christening Cleanses and consecrates magical tools Cleanses and consecrates altars Sprinkled/sprayed around a home or space to remove negativity Use in exorcism and banishing spells Added to bath water for healing spells and rituals Rubbed on aches and pains to bring healing and comfort How to Make Holy Water (Without a Priest) No, you don’t need to be a priest or religious official to make your own holy water. Especially if you’re a modern pagan or witch. There are different methods, but here’s one we’ve found effective and easy by way of collection and ritual: Ingredients: Glass vessel Salt (preferably sea salt or Himalayan salt) Three white candles Frankincense incense (or sage smudge bundle) Lighter/matches DIY Instructions: Place your glass vessel outside and allow it to collect rain water (OR substitute for water gathered from a natural spring; you can also choose a special day or month relative to your intentions) Cleanse yourself via smudging or ritual bath. Gather your water and other supplies. Add a pinch or two of salt to the collected water. Light your candles and incense. Pass the salted water over the incense smoke and then place it in the three candles. State, “by the power of three times three, by the power of the Universe, bless this water and make it holy. So mote it be.” Visualize Divine white light filling the water with love and otherworldly power. Leave the water between the candles until they burn down completely. Bottle it and store it appropriately.

Fairy Potions: Magical Fay Elixirs for All 4 Seasons https://otherworldlyoracle.com/fairy-potions/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=fairy-potions&utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=fairy-potions https://otherworldlyoracle.com/fairy-potions/#comments Mon, 16 Dec 2019 14:56:17 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=4202 Fairies aren’t just dainty little winged creatures that dance from flower-top to flower-top. They are are powerful spiritual beings that, with the right mindset and hard work, can aid you in your magical rituals and spells. Healing, dreaming, and intuition are gifted from the fay to the willing and pure-of-heart. In addition to calling on and using offerings to attract the fay, you can align yourself with fay energy by brewing and drinking fairy potions. What is a fairy potion? What is a fairy potion? A fairy potion is a cool or hot drink that’s intended to align oneself with fairy energy. Typically, fruits, herbs and honey are ingredients used in faery elixirs. This is because many fairies are attracted to certain fruits and herbs that grow in the garden. And honey is a natural sweetener and a product of honeybees (sacred to fairies). It’s about getting to know which ingredients have fairy folklore and energy attached. A Winter Solstice Fairy Potion This recipe is my take on mulled apple cider, perfect for the Winter Solstice and used to attract Winter fairies. But be warned! Not all winter fairies are kind. NO fairy is predictable! Learn how to protect yourself from malevolent fairies here. Winter Solstice Fairy Potion Ingredients: One Cinnamon Stick 3 Cups All-Natural Apple Juice Allspice 1 tbsp 1 cup All-Natural Orange Juice 1 teaspoon raw honey 1/2 cup Brandy 1 tsp jasmine Directions for the Winter fairy potion: Tie the loose allspice, jasmine, and cinnamon into a piece of cheesecloth or a coffee filter, and drop in a large saucepan along with all the other ingredients (except for the brandy). Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to simmer. Cover and let steep on simmer for about 15 minutes. Take out the spice bag, and stir in the brandy. Add a teaspoon of honey to each cup for sweetness. Drink with your coven immediately OR by yourself. FYI Makes enough for half a dozen witches. Spring Fairy Potion Spring is the season for flower fairies, pixies, and the like. If you’re heading into nature to search for the fay, drink this herbal tea first: Spring Fairy Potion Ingredients: 1/2 tsp thyme 1 tsp elder flower 1/2 tsp chamomile 1/2 tsp rosebuds 1 tsp honey (for sweetening) Spring Fairy Potion Directions: Steep all herbal ingredients in 8 ounces of hot water for 6 minutes. Remove herbs and add tsp of honey for sweetness. Pray over your cup of tea: “Fairies good and fairies sweet, bless this tea until we meet.” A Midsummer Potion to Dance with Faeries When Midsummer is upon us, the air is heavy and hot; the trees are in bloom. The fairies are dancing and frolicking…just waiting for chosen magical people to join. But as magical people and friends of the fairies, we know that to dance with them with no protection could mean our demise. Legend tells us of many who have gone to dance with the fairies at Midsummer and never return. If you are a strong individual and pure of heart, or if you are a fairy witch, you must spiritually cleanse and protect yourself FIRST before dancing with the fay. Herbal Berry Smoothie: A Midsummer Fairy Potion Ingredients Fresh Local Produce – 1 cup berries (strawberries, blueberries, etc.) Organic Skim OR Almond Milk – 1 cup Banana – 1/2 Dried Vervain – 1/4 tsp Dried Rosehips – 1/2 tsp Fresh Peppermint Leaves – 3 Four Ice Cubes Directions: Add all ingredients (except for the peppermint) to a blender. Blend well until mixture is smooth. Pour blended fairy potion into a glass cup, add the three peppermint leaves to the top and gently stir into the smoothie. Enjoy before your Midsummer ritual and before taking to the fields to dance with the faeries. Note: choose fresh locally grown berries or fruit. During the summer and in my area, we usually find blueberries or blackberries that are organic and locally grown. The fairies will be more attracted to someone who has consumed plants native to their homeland. The reason this fairy potion is chilled is to keep you hydrated before your romp with the fay. Trust me…you’ll need it. A Samhain Fairy Potion The last harvest festival and the end of the Summer is called Samhain (society calls it Halloween). The fairies are busy on Samhain, but be warned! Their disposition turns darker. Samhain is the day when the veil between the our world and the spirit world is thin. Drink this Samhain fairy potion for protection and also to increase psychic abilities. This is the perfect day to practice divination (tarot, runes, etc.) Be sure to cleanse your space and tools first, then cast a circle. A Samhain Fairy Potion Ingredients: 1/2 tsp Mugwort (light sedative and produces prophetic dreams OR astral travel) 1 tsp Thyme 1/2 tsp red hibiscus 1 tsp honey 8 ounces hot water Samhain Potion Directions: Make this tea with a tea ball or a loose leaf tea infuser. Pour hot water over it and the honey, and enjoy! Don’t forget to ground, center, and shield yourself before drinking this fairy potion and before conversing with the fay ESPECIALLY on Samhain! Ground again after fairy work. THIS WEBSITE IS NOT INTENDED FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING MEDICAL ADVICE. Yule & Christmas Plants: The Poinsettia, Holly, Ivy and Mistletoe https://otherworldlyoracle.com/christmas-plants-magic/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=christmas-plants-magic&utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=christmas-plants-magic https://otherworldlyoracle.com/christmas-plants-magic/#respond Fri, 13 Dec 2019 14:52:13 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=4124 The Christmas tree has long been the pillar of Christmas décor, but what about the other Christmas plants? Holly, Ivy and Mistletoe have also been a part of the Winter holidays, just as long as the Christmas tree. The poinsettia is also considered a magical Christmas plant in North America. But why? Let’s take a look at the folklore of the Poinsettia, the Holly, Ivy and the Mistletoe. And we’ll talk about how you can include these Christmas plants in your Christmas and Yule magic. Christmas Plants: Christmas Poinsettia History & Lore The Poinsettia is a plant that rears its red head in North America every time the winter holidays come around. Poinsettia history originates in Mexico. It was traditional in Mexico to leave presents for Baby Jesus on altars for Christmas Eve. Legend has it one day a poor little boy was upset because he had nothing to give the baby Jesus. He knelt at the Church’s door and prayed, and right where he was kneeling a beautiful poinsettia plant bloomed. Because of this story, Mexico calls the Poinsettia the “Flower of the Holy Night”. How the Poinsettia Was Named But the poinsettia’s history doesn’t stop there. This Christmas plant is named after the first American Ambassador to travel to Mexico in the 1800’s, Dr. Joel Roberts Poinsett. He took a particular interest in the Poinsettia plant and brought it back to the United States with him. So now it’s popular in Mexico and the U.S. during the Winter season. Christmas Holly History: Ancient & Magical Our tradition of decorating with evergreens at Christmas has ancient roots. Christmas holly history begins hundreds of years ago in ancient Europe when the people used greenery to honor life in the dead of winter. One particularly special tree to the ancient Celts was the Holly tree. The Holly tree held sacred status and is reflected in the modern-day Winter Solstice ritual of the Oak and Holly Kings fighting to rule over the new year. Ancient Roman Holly History To the ancient Romans, Holly was popular as a gift during the winter festival Saturnalia. Christmas holly history is believed to have begun when the Romans brought the Christmas Holly to England where the people there also found it magical. The Holly tree was sacred because of its evergreen nature – shiny, bright green leaves and radiant red berries. Life in the dead of Winter. The Holly in Medieval Times In Medieval Times, the Christmas holly was woven into holiday poems. The Holly tree was personified as a fertile, handsome man while the Ivy was a beautiful young woman. Later, Christmas holly history changed and was converted into a Christian symbol – representing the body of Christ. Today it’s still used in wreaths and garland, sometimes you can see it woven around trees or pillars. The Tradition of Christmas Ivy Just as the Christmas holly tree was once personified as a young, virile man, the Christmas Ivy was his female counterpart. Ivy and holly and other evergreens not only honored life in the Dead of Winter but also warded off evil spirits. The Christmas Ivy’s magic dates back to the ancient Celts – it was linked to the Celtic goddess Arianrhod and thought to bring fertility to women. Again, a plant that lives even in Winter. The Christmas ivy has fallen out of favor in modern holiday celebrations, but wouldn’t it be wonderful to bring it back? Christmas Mistletoe History Christmas mistletoe history also dates to ancient times before the rise of the Church. You’ll rarely see mistletoe in Church, because it was regarded as an “evil” Christmas plant during the Middle Ages. The Church wanted to rid society of Pagan Winter customs, and mistletoe was one of those customs; however, the mistletoe tradition survived. Because mistletoe grows on trees, it has the ability to take on those trees’ magical properties. The ancient Germanic, Greek, and Celtic people believed mistletoe was magical and brought fertility, protection, and love. The Kissing Bough Known as the “kissing bough”, the Christmas mistletoe tradition involves hanging a bundle on a door-frame. And if two people stand under it together, they kiss! Christmas mistletoe history began because of the belief the plant brought fertility and love. In Scandinavia, people at war stood under the mistletoe to “kiss and make up”. There’s also a legend linked to the Norse goddess Frigg. Because of the association with pagan gods, the Church tried to eradicate the kissing bough from Christ’s Mass; however, it was unsuccessful. The tradition continues today! How to Weave Christmas Plants into Your Winter Magic The easiest way to incorporate these Christmas plants into your holiday magic is to decorate your home and sacred space with them. Even if you can’t find live/dried versions of these plants, you can always use false greenery on your altar and throughout the house. My grandmother used to wind a garland of false holly and ivy around her stair rails along with Christmas lights. And I always loved how it looked! In addition, hang mistletoe on a door frame and uphold the ancient kissing bough tradition. Poinsettia plants can be placed at the front door to usher in joy and peace. If you really want to get Christmas-crazy, re-create the Holly and Oak King battle at your holiday party or family dinner! 5 HEX BREAKING Baths: How to Break a Curse with a Ritual Bath https://otherworldlyoracle.com/curse-breaking-baths/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=curse-breaking-baths&utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=curse-breaking-baths https://otherworldlyoracle.com/curse-breaking-baths/#comments Mon, 09 Dec 2019 14:59:31 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=4128 There are many ways a hex or curse can affect your life. (Learn the signs you’re cursed or hexed here.) But the most important thing is to break the hex or curse that’s been placed on you. You don’t need a conjure-woman or witch to do this for you. You can do it yourself with a powerful hex-breaking ritual bath. We teach you how to take 4 of our favorite baths to break a curse here. 1. Holy Trinity Bath to Break a Curse My favorite and one I’ve used a few times is what I call the Holy Trinity bath. It’s called the Holy Trinity because of three specific herbs that have powerful hex-breaking properties: basil, rue, and rosemary. (WARNING: Rue can cause rashes for certain people – do a skin check FIRST before bathing in RUE). All three herbs are purifiers and are historically linked to the Divine. In American folk magic, these three herbs are used in combination to uncross a person. When infused in a bath, with a few candles lit, and heartfelt prayer, they break curses. Depending on your religious or spiritual beliefs, you can say whatever you feel is necessary. A powerful hex-breaking Bible verse is Psalms 37:1-2 “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.” 2. Break a Curse with a Lemon & Coffee Bath Sound strange to add coffee and lemon to a bath? I assure it’s not! A hex breaking bath with coffee and lemon is powerfully effective when repeated over the course of 7 full days. Add a cup of lemon juice and a cup of coffee to the bath and soak for 15 minutes or more, praying and visualizing white light breaking through curses or hexes on you. Lemon is known as a universal purifier and coffee is cleansing plus speeds up any ritual process in the spiritual realms. 3. Hex-Breaking Salt Baths Salt is traditionally known to cleanse energetic debris, absorb negativity, and protect from evil forces. When sprinkled into a ritual bath, it works to cleanse the aura, break curses, and protect from future negative intrusions. Epsom salts are specifically great for hex breaking baths and are purchased for fairly cheap at the grocery store or pharmacy. Plus it does wonders physically for your skin! 4. Modern Hex-Breaking Ritual Bath Essential oils have become quite popular these days and for good reason. If you have these oils on-hand, by all means, use them! Be sure to dilute with a carrier oil BEFORE adding any oils to a curse-breaking bath. Dilute 6 drops of essential oil to one ounce of carrier oil. Learn more about the safety of essential oils here. A few essential oils to use in your hex-breaking bath include: lavender (which has a soothing, purifying effect) and eucalyptus. Place crystals with cleansing properties around the bathtub for extra oomph: black tourmaline absorbs negative energies, obsidian has a grounding effect and selenite calls in white light. 5. 7 Waves Ocean Curse-Breaking Ritual If you live near the ocean or are visiting the ocean soon, this is probably the MOST potent hex-breaking bath you’ll ever take. Go to the ocean before sunrise. As the sun rises, go out into the water. Let seven waves crash over your head. Feel the cleansing, curse-breaking power of the ocean. The salt. The water. It frees us of our bonds. Leave the ocean and your worries and negative energy behind you. Essential Parts to a Ritual Curse-Breaking Bath: MUST READ! A curse breaking bath consists of essential parts: the bath itself with hex breaking ingredients PLUS your heart and mind. While bathing, visualize white light and love radiating through you and breaking curses clinging to your aura. Bathe from head to foot, pouring the water over the crown of your head to rinse. You should also be PRAYING to whatever divine energy you believe in for relief. At the end of a curse breaking bath, stand up and towel dry from head to foot in a downwards motion. This pushes negative energy off instead of drawing it towards you. Then repeat for 3 or 7 days for severe hexes. Curse Breaking Bath TIP: make sure you clean your tub thoroughly after performing a hex breaking bath! You don’t want that energy lingering for someone else to pick it up!
