Yes, you! Everyone on this planet was born on a special day. And, I’ll let you in on a little secret, if you’re a witch or magical being, your birthday is probably that much more special! Maybe you’re thinking, I already know my zodiac sign. But birthdays are more than just your zodiac sign. Come with me and explore the magical origins of the birthday celebration PLUS find out how you can find the magic in your birthday! Magical Birthday Origins Celebrating birthdays is not a modern invention. Nor is it particularly “Christian”. Scholars believe birthday celebrations date to ancient pagan times. There’s reference to the ancient Romans being the “first” to celebrate the common man’s birthday. At least his fiftieth. On a man’s fiftieth birthday, he was given a cake. And the birthday candles are supposedly ancient Greek in origin. Candle-adorned cakes were given to the goddess Artemis and the candles were blown out to send one’s prayers to the goddess herself. When you blow out your candles this year, send your wish to your birthday’s patron god, goddess or saint! If we look at the spiritual significance of one’s birthday, we see the day of someone’s birth is inherently a liminal time and space. This means you’re on the threshold of another year or cycle around the sun. Liminal space is powerful because it opens us to the spirit world. In that same breath, liminal space and therefore birthdays, were once considered a “dangerous” time too. A time when spirits and energies thereof could influence your life easily. Coming together as a group to celebrate an individual’s birthday was a means of protection. And check this out – singing, clapping and loud noises scares off evil spirits and bad luck! 1. Magical Birthdays: First, Let’s Talk About Your Zodiac SIGNS and Natal Chart So the first thing we typically think of when someone says “magical birthday” is our zodiac signs. For those who don’t know, you have more than just ONE zodiac sign. In fact, you have three main signs: your sun sign, moon sign, and rising (also called ascendant) sign. Your sun sign is the one we use to answer someone when they ask us what our sign is. The moon sign is dependent on your time of birth, date of birth and place of birth. Your rising sign has to do with your time of birth, as well. So find your birth certificate and input this information into an online moon and rising sign calculator to find yours! Why do you have three zodiac signs based on your birthday? Your sun signs defines your true identity. While your moon sign represents the emotional self. And your rising sign? That is the personality or side of you that you show to the world. Each of these 3 signs may be different, and in discovering this information, you may unlock information about yourself you didn’t know before. Don’t forget too, that your FULL birth natal chart will reveal even MORE about your personality, likes and dislikes, goals and achievements in life, shadows and much more. 2. Next, What About the Moon Phase on Your Birthday? Yes, this seems like it would be the same thing as your moon sign. But, alas, it’s not. You can find what moon phase you were burn under (meaning what phase the moon was in) by looking up your birthday online + moon phase. For example, enter “September 23rd moon phase” into Google and see what you find! Depending on what phase the moon was in on your magical birthday, this will affect how you experience the moon phases in your daily life. For example, I was born under a New Moon. Once I realized this, it made sense why I always feel energized and ready to make magick on the New Moon. While others seem to feel more pumped on the Full Moon. PLUS you can use this birthday moon phase knowledge to fuel your magical workings: spells, divination sessions, dreamwork, and much more! Learn more about the moon phases on your birthday here. 3. What’s Your Life Path Number? In addition to researching your zodiac signs, natal chart, and moon phase, have you ever looked up your life path number? This magical number is based on numerology and is the single digit you get when you add your FULL birthday all together. And keep adding until you get one single number. Like this: January 13th, 1985 = 1+13+1985=1999 =1+9+9+9= 28= 2+8= 10 =1+0 =1 This person’s life path number would be 1. Once you have your life path number linked to your magical birthday, research what your life path number means. 4. Is Your Magical Birthday on a Saints’ Feast Day? PLUS Patron Gods and Goddesses Have you ever looked up your birthday to see if it falls on a Saint’s feast day? There are hundreds of saints, according to the Catholic Church, so I guarantee you’ll find at least one saint linked to your magical birthday. But how does this make your birthday special? It does in a few ways: a. this saint is your patron saint and b. it may link you to a specific ancient god or goddess. Whether you are Catholic or not, having a patron saint whose feast day is on your birthday means you can call on that saint when you need him or her. Most saints have special attributes and things they can aid you with. For example, if you were born on Saint Michael’s Day (September 29th), call on Michael for protection, strength, and to ward off illness. And receive his swiftest response. But let’s take this saint talk to the next level… Patron Saint….or Patron God / Goddess? Did you know quite a few of the Catholic saints were originally pagan gods and goddesses? SO now that you know who your patron saint is, now begin searching for links to ancient deities. For instance, if […]

Witchy Podcasts: 10 Favorites on Paganism, Myth, Lore and Magick https://otherworldlyoracle.com/witchy-and-pagan-podcasts/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=witchy-and-pagan-podcasts https://otherworldlyoracle.com/witchy-and-pagan-podcasts/#respond Thu, 09 Dec 2021 03:46:02 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7716 Recently, I realized I was running out of music. You read that right. I am in the car at least 2 hours and 30 minutes daily. That’s a lot of music over time. SO, I started listening to podcasts. What I found is that there truly aren’t many that are authentic and interesting enough to hold my attention. However, I did indeed discover some diamonds in the rough. If you’re looking for witchy and pagan podcasts, you’ve come to the right place. Witchy and Pagan Podcasts on Magick and Spirituality If you’re specifically looking for witchcraft podcasts produced and published by acclaimed modern witches, here are three of our favorites. Note: we may be partial to two of the suggestions, as they are produced by Burning HallOWS Productions (aka Otherworldly Oracle and Wayfaring Witch). BUT we think you should at least give us a try. Wink. Wink. 1. Hippie Witch Joanna DeVoe has been writing and producing the Hippie Witch podcast for years…long before podcasting was even a legit thing. So, in my opinion, she is truly one of the witchy podcast pioneers. Her energetic spirit and open-mindedness makes her a unique and powerful force. Her show is worth listening to – not just for her quirky anecdotes and knowledge but also for the amazing folks she interviews in the spiritual community. Some of her recent episodes include Finding Purpose in a Daily Practice, Everyday Magick with author Deborah Blake, and An It Harm None with Casey Giovinco. 2. Otherworldly Oracle Official Podcast Okay, people. This is going to be our shameless plug. We officially ended Season 3 of the Otherworldly Oracle Official Podcast and couldn’t be happier with our listeners! If you like learning about witchcraft, witchy lore, mythology, and all things magick, check out our podcast on your preferred podcast app. We are on Spotify, Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, and RadioBreak (to name a few). Here’s a few of the topics we’ve covered in Season 3: Banshees and Celtic Fairy Queens, Divination Study Tips, Witchy Self Care, and Mythology Across Cultures. Listen to one of our episodes here: 3. Mimir’s Well Podcast Mimir’s Well is a Burning HallOWS Production and sister podcast to the Otherworldly Oracle Official. With ONE glaring difference – witchy co-hosts Allorah Rayne and Kitty Fields don’t hold much back in this show. They cover mostly taboo and controversial topics in the witchy and pagan communities including Closed Vs. Open Practices, The Dark Side of Yule, and even The Dangers of Cults. Not suitable for children or for work. But perfect for authentic wild witches. Find Mimir’s Well Podcast on your podcast app or check it out on Allorah’s website here. 4. Rune Soup Probably the only true “pagan” podcast I listen to regularly is Rune Soup with host Gordon White. His shows are never boring and the content is almost always unique! What other podcast have you listened to that talks about tarot deck creation, Bigfoot, cancel culture AND curses from outer space? Gordon is knowledgeable and an eloquent interviewer. Plus he brings on some very intriguing guests. And I love his trademark question, “were you a weird kid?” Find his podcast on most podcast apps or on his website (where he also has a prolific blog on all things magical and pagan). Witchy Podcasts: Our Favorites on Folklore While most of these podcast hosts and creators might not consider themselves witches or their shows “witchy” necessarily, we find folklore and dark taboo history to be PERFECT to satisfy our witchy podcast craving. I don’t know about you, but much of my magical practice centers around folklore and fairy tales. Whether this is you or not, you’ll enjoy listening to these for their educational factor. 5. The Midnight Library My teenager and I have been addicted to this witchy podcast for the past few weeks. Again, while not necessarily a “witchcraft show”, the folklore and dark history presented in these fifteen to thirty minute episodes will satisfy your auditory yearnings. I found this podcast on Spotify, but it’s also on Apple and other apps too. A few of the topics covered in this delightfully dark, entertaining show: Dracula, Poison Gardens, Haunted Castles, Cursed Ancient Books, Krampus and more! Seriously, I’m addicted to this one. 6. Lore From their Spotify description, “Lore is a bi-weekly podcast as well as a TV show and book series about dark historical tales. Each episode explores the mysterious creatures, tragic events, and unusual places that fill the pages of history.” This is also not a show that’s necessarily good for young children. You can find their TV show on Amazon prime. Some of my favorite topics discussed include The Tale of Bridget Cleary, The Jersey Devil, and other superstitions and terrifying tales. Mythology Podcasts If your spiritual practice involves god pantheons OR you just enjoy a good myth, add these pagan mythology podcasts to your list! 7. Mythology by Parcast While this podcast is admittedly rather rehearsed and sometimes over-dramatized, I have found myself enjoying more than one episode. Namely, I enjoyed the episodes on Odin’s Quest and Ra’s Story. The myths alone are powerful enough to keep you coming back for more. Again, this isn’t a true pagan podcast, but it’s helpful for pagans who honor certain gods and goddesses or who just want to learn about mythology in general. Find this one on Spotify. 8. Nordic Mythology This is a podcast I just started listening to. So far it’s pretty darn good. Norse pagans and heathens alike should try out Nordic Mythology with Daniel Farrand and Matthias Nordvig. Matthias Nordvig has his doctorate in Nordic studies from the University of Colorado and Daniel Farrand is the co-owner of the Horns of Odin. In this exciting podcast, these two have a chat about all things from the Viking Age and, obviously, Norse mythology. Find them on all major podcast applications. Guitar Magick: How to Invoke and Manifest With Your Guitar https://otherworldlyoracle.com/guitar-magick/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=guitar-magick https://otherworldlyoracle.com/guitar-magick/#respond Tue, 07 Dec 2021 15:13:12 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7707 I’ve wanted to play an instrument my entire life. Namely – the acoustic guitar. I recently came to a point where I realized, if I didn’t start learning now I might never have another chance. Getting to the end of my life and regretting not doing the things I could have done is one of my biggest fears. SO, I purchased a guitar and started taking lessons on a weekly basis. And I realized something amazing – the guitar can be used to make your own unique form of magick. To connect with the gods. To manifest. Here’s how to cast guitar spells. A Brief History of Music As MAGICK When I say music IS magick, I’m not making it up. It’s not pretend. It’s history. But before we dive into its origins, tell me. When you hear that certain song come on, does it stir strong emotions in you? Memories, either good or bad, that seem to have been forgotten but were pulled to the surface by lyrics or musical notes? Music makes us dance, cry, smile and even has the power to evoke fear (think horror movie soundtracks). That’s the power of music. Now on to the history. In Ancient Egypt, the music came from the gods, namely the goddess Bat (who later would become Hathor). They believed music helped to civilize humanity. Some of the first instruments include the lyre, reed flutes, and drums of various kinds. Musical instruments have been found in some of the oldest places, including the ancient civilization of Ur (modern day Iraq), Greece, throughout Africa, pretty much everywhere. Our ancient ancestors made music as a form of entertainment, but also as a means of preserving their oral history and culture. To teach lessons. To make magic. In Ancient Celtic cultures, the bard was a person with special talents. He or she kept the oral histories of their people through the spoken word and poetry, as well as through music. Bards were typically employed by nobility or the wealthy, and resided at the family’s estate. Not only to tell stories and make music but to collect and preserve that family’s history. Depending on how far back we go in time, most people (or none at all) could read or write. SO keeping a bard in employment was necessity. And who could enchant a crowd like a bard playing the harp and speaking heroic tales of brave warriors, powerful sorcerers, and saints? I could go on and on about the history of music as a form of magic, but I think you get the picture. To solidify the concept, though – know that in the Middle Ages the Church banned certain forms of music and even certain notes when played together. Why would they ban music if it didn’t have some sort of innate, otherworldly power? To learn more about the history of witchcraft IN music, read this article at Flood Magazine. Are You a Musical Witch? Music has been in my family for decades. And, more recently, I discovered it’s been in my family for centuries. I truly believe music runs through our veins. And if you study the history of music, the ancients believed it was a source of incredible power. It connected us to the Otherworld, kept the people’s stories alive and taught valuable lessons. Musicians were highly valued people in ancient societies around the world: from the Celts to the Egyptians. And it wasn’t just because they made pretty sounds. If your ancestors or family members are musically-inclined, you’ll likely to be musically inclined. Maybe you’re saying, but I’m tone deaf or I can’t sing. You don’t have to be able to sing to be musically-inclined. There are dozens of instruments for you to try! Drums (traditional and handheld), guitar, bass, keyboard/piano, violin, harp, I could go on and on. If one doesn’t appeal to you, try another. If you’ve always been drawn to music in a way that no one else seems to understand, you’re likely a music witch. Music witches also tend to have a LOT of the air element in their natal charts. Air is the element of communication and inspiration (hello, MUSIC). Are you an air sign? Aquarius, Gemini or Libra? Check your moon and rising signs, too. Drummers will see a lot of the earth element in their natal chart. The elements also correlate to specific instruments. Are you a writer? Love to sing things into existence? You can use music to make magick, to connect with your ancestors and gods, and much more. Signs and Synchronicities: Is the Music Calling You? When I decided to pick up the guitar, it was strange. It was like my ancestors and guides urged me forward with dreams, signs, and synchronicities. I started seeing the guitar everywhere. I was even shown a siren playing a violin in a book (copyright Lucy Cavendish). Randomly, mind you. I knew it meant I was on the right path. What does this mean to you? Ask your guides to send you signs. To confirm you’re headed down the right path. If you’re not, they’ll tell you. Trust me. First, Acquiring Your MAGICAL Guitar (Or Instrument) When I first began lessons, I purchased an affordable Yamaha guitar off of Amazon. I know. I know. Judge me, if you’d like. I needed one quickly and many of the guitars through the music stores were on backorder. Including the PERFECT guitar for me – a moonflower Luna guitar. I saw this guitar and knew it was for me – an emerald green acoustic, 6-string adorned with moonflower vines, a hummingbird moth, and the FULL MOON at the top of the neck. It screamed magick to me. Not to mention, I’ve grown moonflowers in my garden for years and have used them in my magick. It seemed this guitar was made for me. So I ordered it. And waited for months. Until…one day…it came! If you’re unable to afford an expensive instrument, just hang in there. […]

Witchy Self Care Routines and Rituals to Boost Your Manifestation Powers https://otherworldlyoracle.com/witchy-self-care/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=witchy-self-care https://otherworldlyoracle.com/witchy-self-care/#respond Mon, 29 Nov 2021 16:27:13 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7693 For me, I do find self-care to be important and it is something that I try to incorporate into my life and practice but it is a challenge sometimes to keep that momentum going. When we get a break from life and the outside world in the Winter-time especially, or in the very hot summer breaks, this is a great time to turn inward and focus on caring for ourselves. As well as doing shadow work. The Importance of Self Care for Witches Speaking of the importance of self-care, WHY is it so important for us to take care of ourselves body, mind and soul? And why is it important for WITCHES, more specifically? When we neglect ourselves, in ANY way (body, mind or soul), our life force weakens. Our connection may weaken. And our power to manifest our goals and desires into reality depletes. It’s ESSENTIAL for witches because most of us have some kind of ability or gift that needs nurturing. Not to mention, most witches take on energies from different sources including other people, animals, even world events can affect us. We are easily affected by the change of the seasons, astrological events, moon phases, weather patterns, etc. Often our gifts, I’ll use empathic abilities as an example, may leave us drained of our essence, and so self-care offers us ways to protect that life force and replenish it. The same goes for witches with all kinds of abilities: be those abilities one of the clairs (clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, etc.), divinatory abilities, spirit workings, or healing of all kinds. Even if you are using your own energy to fuel a spell, this requires you to REPLENISH that energy through some form of self-care. Side note – I hope you all learn how to use other energies outside of your own so you’re not always tapping into your own life force for spells. Essential Elements of Witchy Self Care What are the essential elements of the witch’s self-care? I think we can break this down by the 3 main parts to what we call the human experience, which are: body mind and soul. Body What are the main ways to care for the witch’s body? We’ll break them down by food, movement, indulgence, sleep and affection. And how to turn these self-care routines into witchy rituals. Food IS Witchy Self Care…Here’s How… To add witchcraft to your meals – choose more earth-based foods and less processed foods (I know you’ve heard this a million times but it is truly crucial to your health and makes a huge difference with your own personal manifestation powers). Add your favorite magical herbs to your meals and to a bottle of ice water! I love adding strawberry and rosemary to my water. Or lemon and basil. Indulge in decadent foods occasionally…you have to enjoy life, right? Chocolates, red wines, meads or ales, partake in these, but do so moderately. Drinks LOTS of water. I can’t say that enough. We are made up of at least 60% water, therefore we need water. When you have the time and if you enjoy cooking or baking, make it into an enjoyable experience and witchy self-care ritual. Turn on music, light some candles, drink a glass of wine while you cook a magical meal. Movement: You don’t have to work out doing some crazy cardio or lifting massive weights to get your body moving in a witchy way. Lots of witches enjoy learning a certain form of dance like belly dancing. I’ve known witches that do aerial yoga and acrobatics. Do you have a pool? Go for a swim! My favorite ways to move are dancing when no one’s watching and walking through nature on a daily basis. Your body NEEDS to move. We aren’t here on this planet to sit still in a chair or on a sofa all day long. We would literally just be a sack of potatoes if that was the case. So move your body in some way! I promise you’ll feel better. This is essential for witchy self care. Make it something you enjoy. Indulgence (Spoil Yourself!) Some of this witch’s favorite ways to indulge in a little self-care is to create a relaxing, ritual bath. Add topically safe herbs, salts, flower petals, oils, etc. to your bath and take a dip. While you’re bathing, either allow your mind to go blank OR engage in positive self-talk (think of the things you like and love about yourself ONLY). Other ways to spoil your body include getting a massage and facial, saunas, mud bathing, sunbathing, manicure/pedicure, and also relaxing in a safe, comfortable place with a good book or movie, etc. Even buying yourself a new magical tool or that pair of shoes you’ve been eye-ing is okay sometimes! Sleep: SO important! Experts say you should get a minimum of 7 hours to 9 hours of sleep a night. Every night. If you’re missing a lot of sleep and you think you’ll “catch up” on it at a later time, your body and mind don’t work that way. If you’ve having trouble sleeping, it’s time to figure out why and try some witchy ways to induce a good night’s sleep. Herbs, teas, diffusing essential oils, ASMR, music, prayer, etc. Not to mention, when we sleep, the spirit world often reaches out to us during our dream time. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to increase your psychic abilities. Affection: yes this is something that is necessary for everyone. Show yourself affection as well! You might think you don’t need physical affection from yourself or others, but you do. You particularly need it from other individuals – affectionate physical touch. Why? Because it releases specific hormones in your body that are known to elevate mood…balancing mind and body. Ask your family member for a twenty-second hug once a day, and I promise you you’ll feel better. Affection is an important part of witchy self care. Witchy Self Care for the Mind Caring […]

Yule Cookies: 10 Cookie Recipes for a Sweet & Magical Winter Solstice https://otherworldlyoracle.com/yule-cookies/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=yule-cookies https://otherworldlyoracle.com/yule-cookies/#respond Mon, 22 Nov 2021 21:00:02 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7621 I sure do like those Christmas cookies, Sugar. I sure do like those Christmas cookies, Babe. Just a little George Strait song for you, folks. You don’t have to like George Strait or country music to be here, but you DO have to like Christmas treats. Over the past few years, I’ve been researching and thinking – why aren’t there more pagan and witch-themed Yule cookie recipes? There’s a few, but not as many as there should be. SO I’ve come up with some of my own, mixed in with some of the traditional Christmas cookies (with a witchy twist). Here’s my top 10 procured and personal witchy Yule cookie recipes. 10 Yule Cookies for a Very Witchy Winter Solstice The great thing about Yule cookies is this – you can make traditional Christmas cookies and put your own witchy spin on them by adding special spices or herbs. Nature-themed and witchy cookie cutters are easy to procure and use in place of angels or nativity scene cookies. Get inspired. Get your kids involved. Bring on the witchy this Yule in the kitchen! 1. Sun and Moon Yule Cookies As pagans, we have a thing for the sun and moon. We just can’t help ourselves. And with the Winter Solstice being the longest night of the year, why not celebrate the moon’s rule PLUS the return of the sun the following day with sun and moon Yule cookies? These are as simple as using your favorite sugar cookie or gingerbread recipe, and then cutting out moon and sun shapes with cutters or by hand. Stars are appropriate too and an easy-to-find cookie cutter shape during the holidays. Or try this Yule moon cookie recipe by CDKitchen. Offer a sun cookie to a solar god or goddess and a moon cookie to a lunar god or goddess. OR keep a few as offerings for Odin…I mean Santa…I mean Odin. 😉 2. Prosperity-Drawing Snickerdoodles for Yule Snickerdoodles are an absolute family favorite when it comes to Yule cookies. And, not to brag, but Allorah says my snickerdoodles are the best she’s ever had! Something about the light-airiness of the cookie coated in cinnamon just screams joy and abundance. And, not to brag, but I make some pretty amazing snickerdoodles. How do we consider these pagan or witchy? We look at the ingredients and see cinnamon – which is an herb that draws success, prosperity, and strength. Bake and eat snickerdoodles to draw an abundance of health, happiness and wealth in the coming year. They are little sugary spells on your plate! 3. Magical Snowballs Also called Russian teacakes, snowballs are one of my all-time favorite Yule time cookies. They literally melt in your mouth. Pair it with some milk or coffee…oh my gods. Drool-worthy. I like to think these little treats are witchy – with a name like “snowball”, coated in powdered sugar (pure magic) and walnuts added. Walnuts bring fertility, wealth, and new opportunities. So eat up! Here’s my favorite snowball recipe. 4. Krampus Cookies Is there such thing? Yes. And again, you can make the cookies from any recipe you’d like, but we prefer sugar cookie. Get yourself a Krampus cookie cutter. Then be sure to ice it or put sprinkles and red hots on top. There’s angel cookies and nativity cookies, why can’t we Pagans celebrate Krampus with a Krampus cookie? And if you’ve ever seen the movie titled Krampus, you can make regular gingerbread men with evil little faces to celebrate the film. 5. La Befana and Berchta Cookies Traditionally, La Befana has her own special cake in Italy. It’s called…yep…La Befana cake. But since we’re talking Yule COOKIES, we are going to modify the tradition a bit to fit our own. In case you didn’t know, La Befana is the Italian Christmas witch that gives presents to kids during the Winter season. And just like her American elven counterpart (Santa Claus), she enjoys treats to show one’s gratitude. One way to make La Befana cookies is to modify the cake recipe into a cookie recipe. OR you can acquire witch-shaped cookie cutters. These will also work as Berchta cookies! Read more about Christmas Witches here. 6. Gingerbread (The “Original” Christmas Yule Cookie) My research says the first Christmas cookie was something close to gingerbread. According to the History network, “many Christmas cookies are still heavily spiced. We think of ‘traditional’ Christmas flavors like cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger, and those are exactly the same spices medieval cooks would have used in their cookies ages ago.” My kids love making gingerbread men, specifically. You can also make gingerbread krampus cookies, Christmas witch cookies, and whatever shapes you feel evoke the pagan Yuletide season. 7. Chocolate Chip Cookies With Sea Salt This Yule season, bake a holiday favorite – the chocolate chip cookie. But make it witchy by adding sea salt. Every witch worth her salt (pun intended), knows the potent magical properties of sea salt. Adding a bit to your Yule chocolate chip cookies not only amplifies the flavor profile, but also provides a protective magical boost. Want to learn more about salt’s magical properties? Click here. Make chocolate chip cookies with sea salt with this recipe. 8. Sandbakelse: A Traditional Nordic Yule Cookie Baking sandbakelse in Norway is a common, two-centuries-old family tradition. Sandbakelse translates to sand tarts, but aren’t made with sand. They’re made with flour, sugar, butter and chopped almonds. Similar to the American sugar cookie or snowball. Norwegian immigrants brought sandbakelse to the New World with them in the nineteenth century, along with the quintessential cookie tins. If you have Norwegian ancestry, or just want to try making these cookies, check out this recipe. And here’s the tins. 9. Melomakarono: Traditional Greek Cookies Likely the oldest cookie we have on our list here is melomakarono. Melomakarono is a Greek dessert made at Christmas-time that’s based on the ancient “Mercy Meal”, also called Makaria. Makaria was a Greek goddess and the daughter of Hades, god of […]

Yule Recipes: 13 Traditional & Modern Winter Solstice Meals & Beverages https://otherworldlyoracle.com/yule-recipes-traditional-modern/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=yule-recipes-traditional-modern https://otherworldlyoracle.com/yule-recipes-traditional-modern/#respond Thu, 21 Oct 2021 01:30:36 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7383 It’s almost time to break out your warm blankets, cozy slippers, and dutch ovens. Look, I know most pagans live for the Samhain season. But I most look forward to the Winter Solstice season every year. Particularly for the warm, hearty meals and drinks. I mean, truthfully, there’s more to it than just the food. But who am I kidding? The food is hands-down the best part! Here we give you our favorite 10 traditional and modern Yule recipes for the Winter sabbat season. Solstice Blessings! 13 Yule Recipes for Heartwarming (And Tummy-Filling) Meals and Drinks The Winter Holidays scream the colors of red and green, as well as heavy, rich flavors. Depending on where you live, the traditional Winter and holiday meals will differ. I think that’s half of the fun! Try making both traditional Yule fare as well as modern meals and alternatives. Include your own traditional Winter foods. Make these meals throughout the Winter season, as well as on the Yule sabbat. You won’t regret it. 1. Ham (In Place of a Roast Boar) *A Traditional Yet Modern Yule Recipe* To our Norse ancestors, the Winter Solstice (or Yule as they called it), was a time of being together and feasting. It was a time to give thanks to the gods for all they had. On Yule, a great boar was sacrificed in the name of the god Freyr and then eaten. Since most of us don’t have access to a wild boar for our Yule feasts, a ham or roast pork is a delicious substitution. Order a special honey-baked ham and have it delivered to your front door. OR try this delicious brown-sugar, mustard glazed ham recipe as your main entree next Yule. Pair it with traditional American sides like broccoli casserole and mashed potatoes. 2. Wassail *A Traditional Yule Recipe* Wassail is an ancient Yule tradition in the British Isles that still continues today. Hot wassail is essentially a hot cider drink infused with heady spices and fruit juices. There is more than one custom of wassailing, including going from door-to-door to visit neighbors and wish them luck. AND singing blessings in apple orchards to ensure a good harvest the following harvest season. Whether you have a local orchard or not, making hot wassail this Yuletide honors your ancestors from the Isles and the spirits of Yule. 3. Cioppino *Italian Seafood Soup* For Christmas and Yule If you’re Italian, you know how decadent Cioppino is as a Winter holiday meal. A tomato-based soup jam-packed with shellfish like clams, mussels, oysters, as well as calamari, fish, and basically any seafood you like. The seafood is NOT cheap, so this is what makes Cioppino such a special Yule dish. Unfortunately, I am not at liberty to disclose our family recipe; HOWEVER, I’ve found one that’s pretty darn close. Find a Cioppino Recipe for Yule here. Don’t forget to add some crusty bread, polenta, and green herbs to this meal. The green herbs and red soup evoke all the Yule feels. 4. Surf and Turf *Steak and Crab* I don’t know where you live. But whether it’s out in the country or near the sea, surf and turf for the holidays is always a great choice. We can’t always afford steak and lobster year round, but like I said before, we try to go “all out” for Christmas and Yule every year. So save up your extra dough and indulge on some filets (or rib-eyes, whatever you can afford). Then pair your turf (steaks) with some rich seafood like lobster tails, snow crab, etc. This meal is a LOT of meat, so balance it out with a side of vegetables or mashed potatoes. 5. Prime Rib With Pureed Parsnip Prime rib. Yummy. One of my all-time favorite Yule meal recipes that any meat lover will drool over. Frankly, my favorite part of THIS meal is the horseradish dressing. Call me a weirdo. I can’t help but enjoy having my sinuses cleared out on Yule eve. This is a decadent dish and if you add pureed root vegetables like parsnip to it, you have a Winter Solstice meal perfect for nobility. Keeping in mind, you can substitute the parsnip for mashed potatoes OR roasted carrots. Any root veggie is traditional for Yule. 6. Eggnog (Alcoholic and Non-alcoholic) *Traditional American Recipe* You love it. Or you freaking hate it. Either way, eggnog made our list for Yule recipes. It’s just too darn prevalent around the Winter holidays. And to give you a brief history, eggnog apparently dates back to Medieval Times. In the thirteenth century, there was a drink called posset. The monks made and drank this beverage and it was made from milk, figs, and eggs. This may have been the origins of eggnog and over the centuries, folks decided to add liquor. Leave it to us partiers. Here’s a traditional eggnog recipe made from scratch. Of course you can always buy your eggnog from the store and simply add liquor and spices to it, if you’d like (you cheater you). I like thinking of eggnog as a magical way to encourage Spring to come soon, since eggs are a symbol of rebirth and regeneration. 7. Yule Log Recipe Ever made a Yule log? Like a real log decorated with greens, ribbons, and topped off with candles? Or thrown into the Yule fire? If not, don’t worry about it. You can always make one this year. PLUS you can make an EDIBLE yule log. It’s called cake. And it’s fantastic. It looks like a REAL yule log but tastes like you’ve died and gone to the Summerland. Try Ree Drummond’s Yule Log Recipe here. 8. Rum Cake Nothing says the Winter Solstice to me than a rum-soaked bunt cake…aka the rum cake. I have a few family members who enjoy making rum cakes every year and giving them as gifts. And, I’m lucky to be on the receiving end. Even luckier that these two women can be rather competitive. Modern Family Zodiac Signs: A Zodiac Guide To Family Dynamics https://otherworldlyoracle.com/modern-family-zodiac-signs/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=modern-family-zodiac-signs https://otherworldlyoracle.com/modern-family-zodiac-signs/#respond Sun, 17 Oct 2021 14:07:31 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7499 With the COVID-19 pandemic restructuring the world, family dynamics have also fallen prey to several unprecedented changes. The indirect effects of the virus have resulted in a majority of families in the United States living their lives governed by a set of strong physical and emotional boundaries. With divorce rates sailing in unpredictable trends, it only makes sense that many turn to the stars. Seeking answers from Astrology after the plunge into the age of uncertainty may be what you are looking for, in terms of navigating your family dynamics. Read on to discover how the stars and modern family zodiac signs affect family dynamics! How Stars Influence Family Dynamics You may find yourself constantly nit-picked by your overbearing father or missing the company of your aloof sister. Have you ever wondered how Astrology plays a role in the behaviors of your family members? An astrological factor that contributes to family dynamics is the 4 Elements that each member of your family belongs to.  What are the traits of Modern Family Zodiac Signs by Element? Let’s find out!  Earth – Capricorn, Virgo, And Taurus These are the members of your family who are modest, down-to-earth, and pragmatic. Need a solution to manage your finances better? An Earth sign would be the best person to go to! The stability of routines and security they provide make them reliable family members!  Capricorn – You will be able to recognize the Capricorn in your family by their incredible planning and attention to detail. If you have a father or mother who works well with other people and has no problems managing the work-from-home life, chances are you have a Capricorn on your hands! You might experience outbursts and temper tantrums when things get too overwhelming for a Capricorn, but know that they will calm down given space and time.  Virgo – This is the most patient Zodiac of the Earth element. This is the sister who you can count on to help their little sibling with Math homework, or teach them something new. If there is one thing that a Virgo requires, it is a deep understanding of their values and who they are as a person. Misunderstandings amongst family members can cause a Virgo to lash out against their better judgement.  Taurus – The nurturing member of your family, who is often the glue keeping you all together. Taurus is an Earth sign that is excellent with children and can establish the right routines for the entire household to follow. A Taurus’ routine is an integral part of their living, so any disruptions to the same might result in irritability. If you find them getting anxious, consider giving them a crystal that can help them gain significant relief.  Water – Cancer, Pisces, Scorpio  Water takes different forms – ranging from the vast expanses and force of an ocean to the gentle trickling of a stream. This element’s modern family zodiac signs are highly intuitive and emotional, who rely on their instincts to take them through life. Don’t try telling a lie to a Water sign, they are quick to realize something is amiss! Cancer – This is the introverted member of your family that will require patience and time. Given both, you can gently peel back the layers of these individuals and witness how incredibly sensitive and nurturing they are. Owing to their sensitive nature, they might be quick to take offense if caught in a conflict between other family members. Remember to watch your tongue when conversing with a Cancer, they might get hurt but will do their best to not show it.  Pisces – Another sensitive and charming sign, Pisces individuals are often empaths. If you find yourself down in the dumps, you will not have to communicate the same to the Pisces in your family. They will sense your emotions almost immediately and will comfort you in their caring way. If you ever find a Pisces in a bad mood, give them time to come to terms with their emotions. Ask the Pisces in the family about the meaning of Angel Number 911, they will guide you on the divine energies of this number.  Scorpio – This is the member of the family that you know you should never get into an argument with. Ruled by Mars, the Planet of Masculinity, and the God of War, many will find themselves intimated in the presence of an irate Scorpio. These are not individuals who will forget any wrongdoings done to them and have no problem exacting revenge. Be careful when dealing with a Scorpio.  Fire – Leo, Aries, Sagittarius  Dynamic, passionate, confident, and exuberant, those belonging to the element of Fire are known to be the life of the party. Extroverts who do not have any problems mingling with different kinds of crowds are the individuals who get along with every member of the family!  Leo – This is the member of your family who takes pride in their achievements and capabilities. They have excellent self-control and can work well under pressure. But their pride might get in the way and insult or offend other people in the house. The result of this can be conflicts and drama, the cause being Leo’s pride. Try taking things with a pinch of salt when conversing with a Leo, to diffuse tension if you sense the same brewing.  Aries – Another sign that you do not want to anger, Aries is the member of your family who gets irate over the smallest of things. This is the sign that is most prone to mood swings and violent outbursts of emotions. Some of these raging emotions may even manifest as temper tantrums in younger members of the element. You can work to calm them down by giving them a time-out and space to cool down and process their emotions.  Sagittarius – Sagittarius is among the most positive of the Fire element, but is known for the insensitivity towards the feelings of others. Do you have a […]

11 Samhain Recipes: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Drinks and Dessert https://otherworldlyoracle.com/samhain-recipes-meals-drinks-desserts/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=samhain-recipes-meals-drinks-desserts https://otherworldlyoracle.com/samhain-recipes-meals-drinks-desserts/#respond Tue, 21 Sep 2021 12:55:35 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7381 Samhain is around the corner…kitchen witches rejoice! ‘Tis the season of the pumpkin. Of aromatic spices. Of hot cider and apple pie. We connect with our ancestors and celebrate the end of the harvest on All Hallows Eve. And what’s one of the best ways to celebrate? Food, of course. In this post, we share our favorite Samhain recipes including breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks and desserts! You’ll find both traditional foods and modern suggestions below. Samhain Recipes: Bountiful Breakfasts I don’t know about you, but I like celebrating Samhain all day long. Starting with sunrise. This year, in the Northern Hemisphere, Samhain Eve begins on a Sunday. So if you have Sunday off, consider making one or more of these Samhain recipes for breakfast! Don’t forget your enchanted cup of coffee or seasonal hot tea. 1. Butternut Squash Hash with Fried Eggs Next to apples and pumpkin, squash is the third in the holy trinity of Fall ingredients (at least in my witchy opinion). And butternut squash is just so soft and delicious to eat. For any meal. Celebrate the harvest season upon waking and have some butternut squash hash, eggs and bacon. The photo provided is from Paleo Running Mama and here’s her Paleo and Whole30 recipe for butternut squash hash. Not just tasty and seasonal, but it can also be a healthy Samhain recipe to start your sabbat. 2. Autumn Cinnamon Apple Pancakes Recipe for Samhain Morn Treat yourself this Samhain with apple pancakes in the morning. My kids go completely nuts for pancakes. And honestly, what screams witchy comfort food louder than pancakes with cinnamon, spices and apples? Apples are indeed a seasonal fruit, and with good reason, as they also represent the underworld, the harvest, the goddess, and all four elements. Cut an apple horizontally and you’ll find the 5-pointed star inside! Try this cinnamon apple pancake recipe. 3. Irish Boxty *Traditional Irish Samhain Recipe* If you’d like a list of Samhain foods with more traditional recipes, click here (this list from 2020 includes barnbrack and colcannon). Another traditional Irish recipe for Samhain is called boxty – essentially they are Irish potato cakes. A hearty addition to any breakfast or brunch. And, being made of potatoes, makes one’s Irish ancestors happy if given as an offering on All Hallows. Delicious Lunch Samhain Recipes Whether you want to indulge in something wickedly decadent OR stay healthy, we’ve got you covered with these two Samhain recipes for lunch. Both are in alignment with the Fall season and the Samhain sabbat. 4. Beer Cheese Soup I’m a bit of a cheesehead. And I don’t mean I’m from Wisconsin. I mean, I’m a cheese addict. Who doesn’t love cheese on literally everything? Cheese overall screams the Samhain season to me, particularly cheddar and gruyere. So when I heard there was something called beer cheese soup, I made it and then wanted to bathe in it for my traditional Samhain bath ritual (kidding…sort of). Here’s my favorite recipe for Samhain lunch: beer cheese soup. 5. Autumn Apple Salad for Samhain If you’re trying to stay health conscious and keep the pounds off before Yule, salads for lunch are truly the way to go. Adding apples to any salad truly gives it Samhain vibes. But if you really want to know what exactly to put into your Autumn Apple Salad, here it goes. Keep in mind – I’m not providing measurements. If you’ve made salads before, it’s pretty simple. It just takes some eye-ing it and don’t over-do it on the salad dressing! Ingredients: Spinach Dried cranberries Sliced honeycrisp (or a combination of fuji and granny smith) apples Feta cheese Chopped salted pecans Bacon (cooked and chopped) Vinaigrette: if you can find apple cider vinaigrette even better! (3-4 tbsp) Instructions: Toss spinach, cranberries, apple slices, pecans, and bacon in a large salad bowl. Sprinkle feta cheese on top. Gently pour vinaigrette dressing onto the salad. Toss to distribute dressing and cheese evenly. Hearty Samhain Dinner Recipes Every year I tell my family I’m going to dress up for Halloween/Samhain. And every year I struggle. Why? Because I’m typically too busy making dinner for everyone, eating, then cleaning up and getting my kids ready to go trick-or-treating. SO I need to remember to make SIMPLE Samhain meals from now on. Here’s a few you could try. 6. Easy One Tray Roasted Chicken and Fall Veggies Tasty’s recipe for one tray roasted chicken thighs and vegetables is EASY and perfect as a Samhain recipe. If you’re a mom who can’t find the time to do everything on Halloween, this meal might be the right one for you. You can even prep it all ahead and stick it in the fridge until you’re ready to cook it. I do one thing differently from the recipe – I add minced garlic under the skin of the chicken thighs. Replace the fingerling potatoes with chopped sweet potatoes, if you want to go a bit more Autumn-looking. See my actual version in the photo below: 7. Pomegranate – Soy Glazed Fish Filets How is pomegranate glazed fish a Samhain recipe for supper? Pomegranate is a traditional Samhain food, as it represents Persephone and her journey to the Underworld every Autumn season. The choice of filet is up to you, but I’ve made this recipe with everything from grouper to snapper to salmon. If you can get it fresh, this is best. And be sure you buy natural pomegranate juice. In addition, I roast green beans or brussel sprouts with this meal and it is always a hit. If you’re a devotee of Hecate, this is a goddess-pleasing-offering as well! If you’re looking for more Samhain dinner ideas click here. Drinks for All Hallows Eve 8. Hot Apple Cider *A Traditional American Samhain Drink* When the Wheel of the Year turns, and Fall comes back around, I get excited about all of the fun drinks! Sure you can drink apple cider in the Summer, if you really wanted to, […]

Liminal Spaces: Spiritual, Magickal and Personal Places In-Betwixt https://otherworldlyoracle.com/liminal-spaces-spiritual-magickal-personal/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=liminal-spaces-spiritual-magickal-personal https://otherworldlyoracle.com/liminal-spaces-spiritual-magickal-personal/#respond Fri, 17 Sep 2021 19:17:50 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7352 What is liminal space? Kitty wrote an entire article HERE on liminal, and more specifically physical liminal, spaces. But just to give all of you a quick refresher on what liminal space is: Liminal comes from the Latin root word Limen, meaning threshold. Therefore, liminal spaces are places where a threshold is crossed. Spaces of transition or between spaces if you want to call them. It’s a space where you leave where you are but you aren’t fully in another space yet. In this post, we are specifically focusing on spiritual, magical and personal liminal spaces. What Are Spiritual Liminal Spaces? Spiritual liminal spaces, which can also be identified as experiential liminal spaces, are events or states of being in which we leave something behind but haven’t arrived at our destination when we part with them. Examples of spiritual liminal spaces can be: relationship changes – marriage, separation, break-ups, divorce job changes – promotion, demotion, quitting, getting fired, changing careers changing residence – moving house, moving state, moving country graduation – traditional school, trade school, alternative school creative projects – the entire creative process until a product is produced mid-life or identity crises – not having a definitive idea of who you are dreaming – existing between the physical and in dream space astral travel – existing between the physical and in the ethers meditation and journey work – existing between the physical and other realms dark nights of the soul – the culmination of a series of seemingly deconstructive events within your current life by the universe for the purposes of moving you to a new path recovery from addiction – the space between addiction and sobriety which can last the rest of your life life altering trauma – a car accident that leads to the loss of mobility childbirth and pregnancy – being a vessel of life and experiencing pain that brings you to the brink of death These are all events or states of mind where we leave one thing but aren’t necessarily into the next. What Are Personal Liminal Spaces? Personal liminal spaces are personal characteristics which we embody that are in-between. Some examples of this would be: Gender – hermaphroditic, trans, gender fluid Sexuality – pan sexual, bi-sexual Ethnicity – mixed ethnicity Race – mixed race Personality – chameleon who can blend in anywhere Religion – Omnist, Gnostic Neurologically – high functioning autism Those who do not identify with the pre-defined categories society often fit in liminal spaces. Pansexuality, gender fluid, bisexual, mixed race, mixed culture, and high functioning autism are all personal liminal spaces we can occupy individually at any given time. As a personal example, I never fit in with a set group or clique in high school. I was someone that fit in anywhere and nowhere all at the same time. No one hated me and I could hang out with whoever I was around, but that’s as far as it went. I didn’t have a core group of like-minded friends. I was a drifter. This is an example of having a liminal personality. Why are spiritual and personal liminal spaces more difficult to navigate than physical ones? Spiritual and personal liminal spaces are more difficult because when we are in transition, when we are between one phase or state and another, often it is accompanied by not knowing. Not knowing, for some people, is the worst torture imaginable. Everyone wants to know if the decisions they are making will lead to positive outcomes rather than disastrous messes. Most of the time, this is unpredictable. You have to take the risk to get the potential reward with little to no guarantee it will pay off. This is where you have to learn to trust yourself, your intuition, and/or your faith. You have to trust your path and the events that are occurring even as everything is falling apart because it’s actually falling together. Spiritual and personal liminal spaces can be permanent depending on the circumstance. For instance, a bisexual person and a person recovering from addiction are most likely to both always be in those spaces. In these cases, you have to become okay with being a liminal being permanently living in the between space. You have to become okay with uncertainty, not knowing. You have to become an expert at weighing risk vs. reward. And you have to allow yourself the space to just BE without expectation, without reservation, and without your inner critic renting space in your head. Much harder to do than, say, accessing spirits in a cemetery, am I right?! Even worse is when everyone offers their unsolicited negative advice and opinions on your decision instead of offering unconditional love and support. Listen to Our Podcast All About Liminal Spaces: What Are Magickal Liminal Spaces? Magickal liminal spaces are a type of spiritual liminal space that is unique to each practitioner. These magickal liminal spaces are personal times of power when the veil between worlds is thinnest for the practitioner. Moreover, the practitioner feels at their most magickally potent during these liminal times as their ability to weave magick in multiple dimensions flows with more ease than other times. How can you decipher your magickal liminal spaces? Well, it’s actually easier than you may think. Sit down with a pen and paper and record when you feel most magically in tune including: Times of the day by the hour – 9AM, 5PM, 12 midnight Times of the day by category – dawn, midday, dusk, night Days of the week – Wednesday, Saturday Months of the year – September, July, December Seasons of the year – Autumn, Summer, Winter, Spring Cardinal directions you work in – South, West, North, East Elements you work best with – Fire, Earth, Air, Water, Metal, Wood, etc. Moon phases/Esbats – Full, New, Waning, Waxing, Dark Astrological seasons – Pisces, Virgo, Leo, Taurus, etc. Sabbats/Holy Days/Holidays – Mabon, Yule, Beltane, Midsommer Recording your affinity in each of these categories will help you zero in […]

Full Moon Baths: 3 INDULGENT Recipes for Self Love and Manifestation https://otherworldlyoracle.com/full-moon-bath/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=full-moon-bath https://otherworldlyoracle.com/full-moon-bath/#respond Mon, 06 Sep 2021 16:48:00 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7294 Luna. Selene. The Silver Wheel in the dark of the night. We feel it in our bones, in our hearts, and in our flesh. We instinctively know when the Full Moon is coming. And, while we adore her inevitable pull on our lives, sometimes we need to go within and care for ourselves. Sometimes self-care in the form of a bath ritual is what’s best when the moon’s rising. In addition to a full moon bath being a powerful self care ritual, it can also be charged with a more specific intention like drawing love, friendship, increasing psychic power and much more! Check out our recipes and steps below. First, Why Take a Full Moon Bath? The Benefits The moon pulls on the ocean tides, as well as our lives. What better way to get in touch with the Full Moon’s vibes and our higher selves than by taking a full moon bath? Not only are ritual baths cleansing for the soul, they’re also great for the body and mind. According to Town and Country Magazine, hot baths help relieve muscle and joint pain, aid in better sleep, relieve cold and flu symptoms AND even burn calories! By partaking in a full moon bath, you’re connecting with the powerful energy of Selene, Luna and other lunar goddesses as well. Full Moon Bath #1: Increase Intuition With this full moon bath recipe, focus on self-care AND increasing intuition. This is one of my absolute favorites. It’s soothing and empowering. Ingredients: Rosemary (3 tbsp dry OR 3 sprigs fresh): increases memory and clarity of mind as well as cleanses the aura Bay leaves (3): increases psychic ability and promotes visions Lavender (3 tbsp): soothes nerves and cleanses the aura Muslin bag or sachet with tie (optional) Steps: Full Moon Bath #1 Set the mood. Turn the lights down. Light some candles, burn some incense, etc. Put on some relaxing, witchy music. Next, draw yourself a bath. Add the herbs directly to the bath water OR fill your little muslin bag with the herbs and add to the water (NOTE: if you add herbs directly to the bath water, it will be more difficult to clean it up afterward). Get in and soak up the witchy full moon bath vibes for at least fifteen minutes. While bathing, close your eyes and visualize yourself as a beautiful, powerful witch completely in tune with your intuition. Submerge yourself under the water OR pour the bath water over the top of your head. The key is to cover your entire body. Emerge from the bath, towel dry off from foot to crown of the head. Then wrap your hair in the towel. Dress in comfortable clothing and go about your night/day KNOWING that your ability to listen to your intuition has just increased three-fold! Full Moon Bath #2: Moon Milk Bath To Comfort and Heal Ingredients: a CLEAN bathtub a cup of milk (preferably cow’s OR coconut if you are vegan): for nourishment of soul and body Frankincense and/or Myrrh incense: to raise the vibrations of the room a handful of rose petals: for self love and inner beauty a handful of jasmine: for love and purity a white candle: to purify the room a white robe/long dress: for purity and confirmation Steps for the Full Moon Milk Bath: 1. Put on some relaxing music.2. Light the Frankincense/myrrh incense to raise the vibrations of the room.3. Light the white candle. Turn down the lights and get into a relaxed state of mind. Slow you’re breathing, quiet your mind, etc.4. Draw a bath. While the water is filling the tub, pour the cup of milk. State, “this is mother moon’s milk. I am ever grateful. May it nourish me and strengthen me – body, mind and soul.”5. Next, put a handful of rose petals in the tub. State “roses for self love. May the moon grant her undying love to heal my weary soul.”6. Lastly, put a handful of jasmine in the tub. State, “Mother Moon, grant me your magic so that my soul may see in the darkness, heal and become whole.”7. Disrobe and get into the tub. Bathe and lie in the tub as long as you’d like. Visualize the bathtub as a conduit of loving, healing energy. Full of white light, drawing the very essence of the moon into your purifying bath.8. When you’re finished, stand up and emerge a cleansed soul. State, “I’ve emerged a newborn, whole being wrapped in the loving rays of the moon. Thank you, Mother.”9. For the rest of the day/night, wear all white. This is the sign of purity and healing. Full Moon Bath #3: YOU Choose Your Ingredients and Intention Don’t let the online world convince you that you can’t come up with your own full moon bath recipes. Because you can! A couple rules of thumb: always make sure the ingredients you use are topically safe for you by testing a small amount on your hand/wrist AND that you’re able to clean the contents out of the tub without clogging the drain! We recommend muslin bags or bath sachets for a quick clean-up. For this full moon bath, YOU will choose 3 ingredients from the following list: Sea salt (1 tbsp) Himalayan salt (1 tbsp) Epsom salt (1 cup) Witch’s black salt (1 tbsp) Lemon juice (1/2 cup) Milk (1 cup): cow’s, coconut, or almond Coffee (black) 1/2 cup Herbs that are topically safe: rose, rosemary, basil, mint, lavender, jasmine, chamomile, hibiscus, calendula, alfalfa, chickweed, turmeric, dandelion, oatstraw, butterfly pea (up to 1 handful) Aloe vera gel or juice (up to 1/2 cup) Coconut oil (3 tbsp) Black or green tea (1/2 cup) Essential oils (up to 9 drops): rose, rosemary, lavender, lemongrass, lemon, jasmine, ylang ylang Shea butter: 1/4 cup Orange slices (1 orange) Lemon slices (1 lemon) Choose Your Intention Choose your intention for your full moon bath. We recommend something for manifestation: love, self-love, purity, money and success, protection, new friends or opportunities. […]
