To put it simply, black obsidian is volcanic glass – it’s formed from felsic lava and is riddled with elements like sodium, oxygen, potassium and more. Mexico is one of the biggest producers of black obsidian, but it’s also found worldwide in volcanic regions like Argentina, Iceland, New Zealand, Peru and even in the United States. For awhile there, everyone was all about that moldavite life. And, being that I’m not a big crystal pusher, I was sort of remiss to buy this popular stone. What makes this stone so special? Moldavite comes from a place in the earth that was touched by a fallen meteor millions of years ago. So, the belief is that these stones absorbed the energy from an ancient piece of outer space. This mysterious stone is forest green to nearly black in color. And it is part of the tektite family of rock. It’s high-vibrational and emits intense energy frequencies. When I unwrapped my piece of moldavite from its package, I immediately felt a strong, pulsating vibration radiating from it and into the palm of my hand. Honestly, I’ve never felt such a strong energy from any stone (and I’ve owned quite a few in my lifetime). I wasn’t expecting that! How to Find Authentic Moldavite With the current new age trend, spiritual folks have flocked to the world of healing crystals. And moldavite is no exception. When I purchased mine, I found a seller on Etsy who had lots of positive reviews. When I received it in the mail, I opened it and knew immediately that it was real. I could feel the stone pulsating and tingling! This is a powerful stone, my friends. How to Activate Moldavite When you hear “how to activate moldavite”, it almost sounds like we’re working on a top secret space mission, doesn’t it? Well, that’s because it kind of is! But instead of thinking too scientifically, let’s think spiritually. What does it mean to “activate” a crystal or any spiritual tool, for that matter? Charging Crystals and Moon Water: Your Most FAQ Answered!

Each time the Full Moon appears, you’ll also see people talking about charging crystals and making moon water. And while these recipes and processes seem simple, sometimes there’s other factors that make them seem complex! Here we answer all of YOUR frequently asked questions and explain how to effectively charge your crystals, make moon water, and make sun water. Charging Crystals FAQ First, let’s answer what it means to charge crystals. I see a lot of folks confusing cleansing with charging. Cleansing your crystals before use means to energetically remove/strip bad energy from the crystal. Charging crystals means to infuse or “fill up” your crystals with energy. Similar to charging a phone! If you want to learn how to cleanse your crystals click here. 1. What are some ways of charging crystals? I always recommend using the sun or moon to charge your crystals with energy. Depending on the kind of energy you want, that is. For example, charging a piece of citrine with sunlight is most effective if you’re using the citrine for energy yourself (don’t leave it out too long or it can fade, see below for more info). Charging amethyst crystals with moon energy makes sense because amethyst is an intuitive, dream-working stone in alignment with the moon’s vibrations. 2. How long should I leave my crystals to charge in the moon or sun? Charging crystals under the moon means you can leave them out as long as you’d like, as long as the sun doesn’t hit them in the morning. I typically leave my crystals out overnight, as it’s easiest, and then when I wake up I bring them in. But if you only have 3 hours to leave the crystals out, that’s fine too! If you’re charging crystals by sunlight, the same rule applies. HOWEVER…this brings me to my next question and answer… 3. Can the sun damage my charging crystals? Do your research before setting your stones and crystals to charge in the sunlight. Some crystals will fade in sunlight including topaz, sapphire, turquoise, and even quartz crystals like citrine. WAIT…didn’t I say to charge citrine in the sunlight? Yes, I did. But there’s a caveat – don’t leave it out so long in direct sunlight that it fades! The point here is this – do your due research, folks! 4. How often should I charge my crystals? That depends on how often you use your crystals. If you use a crystal daily, consider re-charging it once a month on the Full Moon, etc. If you only use that crystal once every few months, re-charge it once every few months. Truly there’s no right or wrong answer here – it’s up to you how often you want to charge your stones! See the next question and answer about re-using crystals. 5. Can I re-use a crystal after it’s been used in a spell? Again, this is truly up to you, but I believe you can re-use crystals after using them in spell work. But for me, it depends on the type of spell done AND if the spell has completely manifested or not. For example, if I use a piece of bloodstone in a healing spell to extract a blood disease/illness, I would choose NOT to re-use that stone. However, if I used a piece of rose quartz in my room to elevate the love vibes – YES I will re-use that crystal! I simply cleanse it then re-charge it. 6. Does the moon or sun cleanse my crystals in addition to charging them? This is something I’ve mentioned before, but a lot of folks think the sun or moon cleanses AND charges at the same time. While you can make up your own mind about this, I have always used one of the 4 elements to cleanse my crystals and then subsequently used the sun or moonlight to charge them. Look at it this way – when you plug your phone in to the charger…does the charger clean your phone too? No. Cleanse then charge. 7. Do my crystals have to be hit by direct moonlight? What if it’s a cloudy night and the moon barely peaks out from the cloud cover? Does this mean my crystals won’t be charged? In my experience, my crystals are still charged by the moon’s light even on cloudy nights. Just because you can’t see the moon through the clouds doesn’t mean the energy isn’t there. However, if you have a clear night with the full moon’s light directly on your crystals, you may get a more powerful charge. Charging Moon Water: FAQ Moon charged water has become a popular spell ingredient in modern witchcraft. That’s because it’s easy to make and powerful! Here’s your frequently asked questions about charging moon water: 1. How do I charge moon water? Making moon water is pretty simple: fill a vessel with water and set it outside to soak up the moonlight. The water source, vessel, and where you put it is up to you. Chakras are wheels of energy within our bodies and interwoven with our auras. If your chakras are blocked, negative vibrations, attachments and illness occurs. For me, I had a blocked throat chakra for many years. Once opened, I was able to speak my truth and communicative effectively. I’ll show you how to unblock chakras using crystals, an effective and fun way to spiritual wellbeing. The 7 Major Chakras and How to Tell Which Are Blocked Each person has 7 major chakras aligned along the spine from the top of your head to the bottom of your spine. We’ll identify why it’s crucial to unblock chakras. Here are the major 7 and what they represent starting with the root and going up: 1. Root Chakra Your root chakra is a spinning wheel of energy located at the base of your spine – your coccyx. It’s color is dark red to black and links us to the energy of the earth beneath us. If you’re grounded and connected to the Earth’s energy, your root chakra will be unblocked and spinning freely. You attract financial prosperity and have a level head. When Your Root Chakra is Blocked… When your root chakra is blocked, you may feel scattered and have financial problems or money blocks. You feel disconnected to the earth and anxious. You may even have back or hip pain or problems – reasons to unblock chakras ASAP. 2. Sacral Chakra Your sacral chakra is the wheel of energy located between your navel and coccyx. It spins in the area of your reproductive organs and is the color orange. The sacral chakra represents sexual health and creativity. When it’s unblocked, you express your sexuality in a healthy way AND creativity flows into all aspects of your life. When Your Sacral Chakra is Blocked… Your sacral chakra governs sexuality, so when it’s blocked sexuality isn’t expressed or satiated. You may have blocked sexual energy, be confused about your sexuality, OR struggle with imagination and creative thought put into action. Illness and infection with sexual or urinary organs may also be present. 3. Solar Plexus Your solar plexus IMO is one of the most important chakras in your body. It’s located between the bottom of the sternum and above the belly button. The solar plexus is a yellow color and connects us to the divine energy of the sun and the light. It is your energy zone that supports self esteem, courage, and your personal power. If your solar plexus is healthy, you exude confidence and tackle goals with clarity and fervor. When your solar plexus is blocked… you may struggle with self esteem and confidence. You look in the mirror and don’t recognize your true power and beauty. Depression may result from a blocked solar plexus, as well as struggles with career paths, maintaining healthy relationships, making new friends, etc. Digestive illness and problems may surface. 4. Heart Chakra Your heart chakra is located over and through your heart. In the middle and middle-left of your chest. It’s green in color and manages all things related to love in your life – romantic love, friendships, family members, etc. It also governs self-love. If your heart chakra is freely aligned, you give and accept love freely, maintain healthy relationships, and love yourself wholly. If your heart chakra is blocked… you have trouble loving yourself and may engage in reckless behaviors to self-medicate the emptiness. Low self esteem and feeling isolated from others. You may be overly-defensive and don’t trust others. You may also have heart or lung problems. 5. Throat Chakra Your throat chakra is located over your throat in the middle of your neck. It’s blue in color and governs how you speak to others and how you speak of yourself. Communication is the key aspect of the throat chakra and relates to ALL forms of communication including writing and music. It’s how you express (or don’t) express your truth. If your throat chakra is functioning well, you communicate your feelings and needs with others in a healthy manner AND express your true self. When your throat chakra is blocked… you may have a problem with pathological lying or simply “stuffing down” your feelings. You are afraid to be yourself and express your truth. Communication is blocked in your relationships and with yourself. Throat and thyroid problems may occur. 6. Third Eye Your third eye is located between your brows, slightly above the bridge of your nose. It’s purple in color and allows you to see the truth in others, energy in the spiritual realms, and brings clarity of mind and soul. When your third eye is open, you see the beauty in the world and in others, as well as being able to see auras, invisible truths, etc. When your third eye is blocked… You have a spiritual block and don’t see the beauty in others or the world around you. Signs from the universe go unnoticed. You feel disconnected from others and your own spirituality. Headaches, sinus infections, eye problems and other head illnesses may occur. 7. Crown Chakra Your crown chakra is located at the very top of your head and is the color white. It is your direct link to the energy of the universe – to Source energy a.k.a. God, Goddess, or the Divine. Its your source of spiritual connection and gives you the ability to hear god’s voice, accept divine healing, and feel the presence of your guides and angels. When your crown chakra is blocked… you may not believe in god or any other power outside of physicality. Hearing divine guidance or feeling the presence of spirit guides is non-existent. You may feel “unlucky” or angry because of past traumas. You’ll feel disconnected spiritually and alone in the universe. Headaches and other illnesses may occur. 7 EASY Ways to Cleanse Crystals and Stones of Negative Energy

So you just received an order of crystals in the mail and rip through the packaging. There lies the most gorgeous amethyst you’ve ever seen. There’s also a zebra jasper palm stone crying to be held. Your brand new crystals should be ready to use, right? Wrong! Spiritually purifying any new stone or crystal is a must. Here we explain why it’s important to cleanse your crystals and provide 6 EASY ways to cleanse crystals and stones. Why It’s Important to Cleanse Crystals and Stones Manufactured crystals and stones have gone through mining AND processing. This includes passing through machinery, buildings, transportation, and dozens (possibly hundreds) of different hands and energies. Crystals give off their own energy and vibrations, but they can also absorb energy from their environment. Just like us! So it’s critical to cleanse your crystals and stones when they’ve come from a manufacturer or shop of any kind. Purifying your new crystals strips it of negative energy and frees it for you to experience its unique vibrations. Cleanse Crystals with the Elements Use the four elements to cleanse your crystals and stones. This is the simplest and most effective way, in my humble opinion. 1. Earth Cleansing crystals with the earth element can be done in a few ways. Bury your new crystals or stones in your garden or in a flower pot. Leave them there over-night or whenever you feel they’re ready. Cover them in a bowl of sea salt for thorough purification. Salt has been used for centuries in many rituals and practices, and it is just as useful in cleansing crystals. 2. Air / Smoke Cleansing crystals with the element of air is usually done by using the smoke of burning sage, cedar, or some other type of cleansing herb or incense. Take the crystal or stone and wave it through the smoke. Visualize the smoke cleansing the stone of residual energies and filling it with white light, positive energy. 3. Fire & Body Heat Sometimes its appropriate to cleanse crystals by fire or flame. Many stones change or are damaged in heat, so do your research before exposing your crystals to flames. If you’d like to use your body’s warmth as an alternative to fire, simply hold the stone in your projective hand (the hand you write with) until you feel heat from your body pushing into the stone. Once you let the stone go, it will be very hot. This is when you know your body heat has purified the crystal. 4. Water To cleanse crystals with water, take them to a local creek, river, spring, lake or ocean. Keep them in your hands or set them in a bowl and let the water wash over and surround them. Imagine all negative energy running out into the water, leaving them clean and clear. You can also use holy water, moon water, or herbal infusions to cleanse your crystals and stones. Simply pour it over the stones or soak the crystals in the water. Take them out when you feel they have been cleansed. Please Note: some crystals and stones dissolve or dim in the water. Selenite is one example of a crystal that literally dissolves/sloughs off when soaked in water. Do your research before exposing your crystals to water for long periods of time! Cleansing & Charging Crystals by Solar and Lunar Light If you prefer, solar and lunar light are also cleansing and charging natural sources. So, if you leave your crystals in the moonlight, not only does it cleanse them, it charges them with lunar vibrations. Same with the sun. 5. Solar Cleanse To use solar light in cleansing your crystals, leave your stones and crystals in a bowl outside where it will be untouched by human hands but directly in the sunlight. Leave them there for a day or however long you feel it takes to remove the stones’ residual energies. Be careful! Some stones will lose their color if exposed to extreme temperatures/sunlight for too long. 6. Lunar Cleanse To use lunar light to cleanse crystals, leave the crystals outside be bathed in full moonlight or put them in a windowsill to be touched by the moon light. Full moon light is best when performing a lunar cleansing of crystals. It also charges the crystals while purifying them. I also enjoy cleansing/charging my amulets, talismans and tools in the full moonlight. 7. Eclipses Cleanse Crystals, Too! If you are lucky enough to experience an eclipse (solar or lunar), this is the most powerful way to cleanse & charge your crystals and stones. Leave them out in a bowl so they soak up the eclipse energy and be cleansed of all residual energy simultaneously. EXCEPTION: the only exception I’ve found when it comes to cleansing crystals and stones is finding a stone or rock in nature. I.E. a rock in a creek, a crystal stuck in the side of a mountain, etc. If you feel it could have been touched or discarded by someone else, it’s still important to cleanse. 10 Herbs & Crystals for Astral Projection and Prophetic Dreams

Sometimes our dreams offer us insight into the past and the future. We might meet otherworldly beings in our dreams. Sometimes we are born with the ability to dream walk. For those who are dreamers, if you’re looking for ways to increase your dream magic, here are our favorite crystals for astral projection and herbs for prophetic dreams and lucid dreaming. 5 Crystals for Astral Projection & Prophetic Dreams One of the easiest things to do to increase your dream magic is to purchase crystals for astral projection and dreaming. They’re fairly cheap to purchase online or at a metaphysical store. You don’t have to buy a huge stone, a small nickel-sized crystal will do the trick. Here are our favorite crystals for astral projection, prophetic dreams and lucid dreaming: 1. Amethyst A pretty purple version of quartz, amethyst has been used for centuries to induce lucid and prophetic dreams. I’ve used amethyst for the past decade to increase my dream magic and always have results. Place it in your pillowcase, on the nightstand next to your bed, or between your mattress and boxspring to increase your dream time and prophetic dreams. Place the small piece in your pillowcase. 2. Lapis Lazuli When I think of past life dream magic and prophetic dreams, I think of lapis lazuli. Lapis is one of the most effective crystals for astral projection which I believe has to do with its ties to ancient civilizations. This royal blue stone with gold flecks is not only gorgeous, it’s potent. Use it in small doses, else it will make you feel flighty and un-grounded. Lapis is connected to your third eye and throat chakras and thus may be used in meditations prior to sleep to increase your dream magic ten-fold. 3. Selenite One of my favorite crystals for astral projection protection is selenite. Selenite is a white, cloudy crystal associated with the crown chakra – it links us to the Divine. It’s high vibrational, which means it is self-cleansing. If used while dreaming, selenite offers a white light bubble of protection around your astral body. It allows your guides and guardians to protect you from negative astral beings and from nightmares. 4. Lepidolite Another pretty purple crystal for astral projection and dreaming is lepidolite. Linked to the third eye, lepidolite is a great crystal for prophetic dreams and astral travel. Wear it on your person throughout the day to induce dreaming at night. Again, with this crystal too, you’ll want to wear it and use it for dream magic in small doses. Using crystals and stones associated with the higher chakras too often can cause light-headedness and flightiness. I know from personal experience. 5. Clear Quartz The ancient Egyptians placed quartz inside their obelisks to generate power from the heavens. Sleep with clear quartz beside your bed and you’ll experience clear dreams from the Divine. Also connected to your crown chakra, clear quartz is a wonderful crystal for astral projection. Crystal Grids for Astral Projection and Dream Magic Another way in which to use crystals and stones for dream magick is to make a crystal grid. A crystal grid is simply a pattern of crystals or stones used as a means to generate power for a specific purpose (such as for inducing dreams). Choose stones that correlate with what you are trying to achieve in your dreams. For example: a crystal grid of lapis lazuli, selenite, and rose quartz might bring you dreams of past lives and past romances. Dream Herbs List & Details Many herbs have properties that aid in inducing dreams. The aroma, the chemical constituents, magical properties and vitamins in certain herbs can help increase lucid dreams. Here’s our dream herbs list and descriptions: 1. Mugwort There’s no herb more recommended for dream magic than mugwort. Mugwort is in the artemisia family, which includes the absinthe herb wormwood, and is known to induce prophetic dreams and astral travel. Most blame the constituent thujone for its mild hallucinatory effects on the brain. It’s supposedly illegal to drink mugwort or wormwood as a tea. So I won’t tell you to drink it as a tea, but you can place it under your pillow to increase dream magic. 2. Blue Vervain Vervain, aka verbena, has been used for centuries to cure insomnia. It’s a powerful sleep-enhancing herb and also produces dreams. A favorite of witches, this herb is rumored to have been used by Celtic Druids to aid divination. Similar to rosemary, it provides clarity of mind in sleep and waking life. Make a dream sachet with blue vervain and an amethyst crystal for astral projection. 3. Rosemary Rosemary is my all-time favorite herbs for a number of reasons. One reason is it’s ability to bring on prophetic dreams. It’s also pretty darn safe to take internally – in a tea or infused into your meals. As previously mentioned, rosemary provides mental clarity and therefore won’t give you whacky dreams. BUT it will give you clear, concise dreams. 4. Lavender Ahhhh, lavender. Such a calming, soothing herb. It’s used in love spells, to ease anxiety, as a purifier and more. Diffuse lavender oil in the air of your bedroom to help you fall into a deep, dreaming sleep. Combine lavender with mugwort in a dream sachet and put under your pillow for prophetic dreams and astral projection. 5. Blue Lotus The blue lotus was sacred to ancient cultures like the Egyptians, who believed it was linked to eternity. The lotus bloomed on lily pads on the Nile River, therefore the Egyptians believed it produced visions and prophetic dreams. Crystal Magick for Beginners: Crystal Colors, Uses, and Common Crystals

I’d venture to say many beginners are drawn to metaphysics and magic because of a pretty crystal they saw somewhere online. Crystals and stones have been used for thousands of years for magical and medicinal purposes, and a huge influx of people are finding them useful again in modern times. Here’s our article on crystal magick for beginners, including basic crystal colors, uses, and common crystals and stones. Crystal Magick: Crystal Colors You can go out and buy a bazillion crystals and stones and do your best to remember each and every name and its magical properties, OR you can learn a few common crystals and stones and go by the color of the rest! Crystals of certain colors will carry certain properties that differentiate them from other crystals. Also, keep in mind that each chakra (energy-point) in our bodies has a color that corresponds to crystals of the same color. Here’s a general guide to crystal colors and their magical properties: Crystal Colors & Magical Properties Pink self-love, friendship, healing, romance Red passion, lust, strength, revenge, perseverance, ancestors Purple intuition, dreams, magic Blue communication, inspiration, water, healing Green money, love, earth, grounding, abundance Orange sexuality, fertility, emotional healing, balance Yellow sun, energy, opportunity, success, empowerment Black grounding, divination, protection Clear clarity, divine communication, angels, breaking barriers Brown grounding, animal magick, ancestor work, protection, growth White connection with the divine, angels, crown chakra, clairvoyance, purity Cleansing Your Crystals One of the most important steps to take when you purchase a crystal or stone is to cleanse it BEFORE use. Crystals and stones have the tendency to absorb energies around them, which means if someone of strong energy already held your crystal, their energy may be on it. Crystals pick up energies in the environment and from its original mining/manufacturing process. Cleanse the crystal energetically of residue by smoke-cleansing it (with sage/cedar/etc smoke), burying it in soil/sand/salt, or running it under water (be careful with this method as some stones are soluble). My favorite method is smoke-cleansing. It’s quick, simple, and doesn’t have any effect on the physicality of the crystal itself. Charging Your Crystals Maybe you’ve heard someone say “you have to cleanse and charge your crystals”. Both cleansing and charging are important. What does it mean to charge a crystal? Charging is when you fill the crystal with natural, positive energy (you can look at it like charging a battery). Natural energy can come from a variety of sources but usually involves moonlight, sunlight, reiki or the individual’s own personal energy. I’ve found the easiest and best way to charge a crystal is to cleanse it first then hold it in your dominant hand. Visualize a white light starting at the crown of your head, flowing down through your arm and into the crystal. Also think about what intentions you have for this crystal (bloodstone for healing, rose quartz for love, etc.) Hold this visualization for at least a few minutes. How to Use Crystals for Magick Maybe you have a couple crystals and now you’re looking at them sitting in on your nightstand. Or you’re holding it in the palm of your hand thinking, “what now?” Well, if you’re holding it, congratulations! You’ve taken the first steps towards learning crystal magick. The First Step The first thing you should do with crystals is hold them. Don’t expect anything to happen, let the crystal’s energy do its job. You might not feel anything at first and think I’m pulling your chain, but trust me…after a few times of practicing this, you’ll start to feel the crystal’s vibrations. Depending on the person and the crystal, you might feel vibrating, jolts of energy (like lightning bolts), radiating warmth or coolness, and/or tingling. Record any physical sensations and your thoughts/emotions while holding the crystal. Certain crystals will effect you differently than others. For example, I can’t hold hematite anywhere on my body…it grounds me so much that I fall asleep! Pay attention to these things. Second: Incorporate into Daily Life Okay, now that you’ve felt up your stones, what’s next? Now you’re going to incorporate crystal magick into your daily life. But how? Crystals are versatile and can be used in every room/place for various purposes. Here are just a few basic crystal uses you should try: Put a small green stone in your purse to draw in money Place black tourmaline next to computers and TVs to absorb negative energy Rose quartz and selenite are great in bedrooms for self-love, romantic love, and to draw in white light and angelic protection Take a bath and place blue stones around the tub to relieve anxiety and soothe nerves Amethyst beside the bed or under your pillow brings prophetic dreams Tiger’s Eye placed in the entrance of a home protects against intruders Jade in the bedroom keeps love alive Use a selenite wand to cleanse your space and/or tools before use Bloodstone used as a massager on the face increases beauty and youthfulness Keep an obsidian palm stone by your bed to ward off nightmares Meditate with the color of crystals that correspond to your chakras Give pretty crystals to your gods and/or ancestors as offerings Place small pieces of crystals in spell bottles, jars, and bags Crystals for Divination and Ritual If you enjoy divination (i.e. tarot, runes, pendulum, etc.), add crystals to your readings.
