4 Magical Summer Sun Tea Recipes for Joy, Energy, and Abundance

Summer’s here! Cicadas are buzzing. The frogs are croaking. And the sun is bathing us in its warmth and light. It’s time to harness that amazing solar energy. What better way to cool off on a hot summer’s day than with a cup of refreshing iced tea? And what better way to make a batch of iced tea than to infuse it with magick and the sun? Here are four of our favorite magical summer sun tea recipes for joy, energy and abundance.

The MAGICK of Sun Tea

Sun tea is made up of magical ingredients, each with their own energy to bring. First, it requires water as the actual liquid. The water element brings purification, intuition, connection with emotion and psychic abilities. It also allows our dreams to flow naturally. It hydrates and cleanses the physical body. And cleanses the aura. Secondly, sun tea requires herbs, fruits and/or tea leaves. Each of these ingredients carry their own magical properties. You can choose the herbs, fruits, and teas in alignment with your intentions. Last, this kind of tea uses the power of the sun to brew it…and also to charge it. The sun’s energy infused into this tea activates your solar plexus and brings joy, vitality and confidence.

The reason I chose to share this simple recipe with you all is because it reminds me of a joyful time in my childhood. Blackberry Lemon Balm Sun Tea for Protection

Blackberries are protected by the bramble in which they grow. Therefore, blackberries can be used in protection spells with powerful results. When used as an ingredient in sun tea, blackberries bring protection from negative energy and increase intuition. Here’s my favorite blackberry sun tea recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 6-8 blackberry teabags
  • airtight 1-2 liter container with lid
  • Handful fresh blackberries (crush them slightly in a mortar and pestle if you want more flavor BUT keep in mind, there will be chunks in your tea)
  • Handful fresh, crushed lemon balm leaves
  • Cup of raw sugar (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Put tea bags and sugar in air-tight container.
  2. Fill with water to the top.
  3. Close it with the lid and place outside in a place where the sun will hit it at the hottest part of the day – noon to afternoon.
  4. After an hour, pick up the container and flip/shake it.
  5. Leave for 1-2 more hours.
  6. Bring inside, strain out tea bags and add strawberries and crushed basil leaves.
  7. Pour over ice and put in the refrigerator.
  8. Drink for love and monetary abundance this Summer season!

Is Sun Tea Dangerous? Will You Get Sick?

I’ve had folks tell me sun tea is dangerous because it can attract bacteria and other microorganisms. I can’t deny that leaving tea out in the sun for too long can’t be a breeding ground for microorganisms. However, I’ve been making sun tea my entire life, every Summer, and I’ve never gotten sick from it. As long as you don’t leave it out too long, you should be okay. Be sure to use clean jars and ingredients and put it directly in the sunlight. Then bring it inside and put it on ice and in the fridge ASAP.
