And along with all the fun to be had, there’s typically also stress. We end up spending a lot of time around others which can leave us feeling drained and frazzled. What better way to care for yourself than with the healing power of crystals? Here we provide you with our favorite crystals for Yule Winter Solstice based on their color, uses, and vibrations. 20 of the BEST Crystals for Yule and the Winter Solstice Truly any and every crystal is useful during Yule and the Winter Solstice depending on your needs and intentions. Use what you have and what works best for you. 1. Black Obsidian for Shadow Work & Scrying One of my favorite stones in general, black obsidian is the perfect crystal for Yule and Winter Solstice in more than one way. Traditionally, black obsidian was used as one of the first mirrors, made into weapons and tools, and later used as a scrying mirror. When Winter hits, we typically slow down and go into ourselves. We go into a hibernation, so to speak. So obsidian aids in taking us deeper into our shadows and is a great tool for practicing scrying. 2. Green Calcite: Heal My Heart During the Holidays Well, green calcite is green so it’s automatically a good fit for the Yuletide season. Here at Otherworldly Oracle, we call green calcite the Witch’s Heart Stone because of its soothing, healing heart vibes. Green links it to our hearts and to the earth, and is obviously one of the colors of the Winter Solstice season (think evergreens – rebirth). Use in meditation and set around the house as a Yule decoration. 3. Red Jasper: Tantric Holiday Sex Stone Most of us spend a lot of time indoors during the Winter Solstice season. During that time, many of us tend to concentrate on pleasures of the flesh – food, drink, sleep, relaxation, and sexual relations. Red jasper isn’t just in alignment with seasonal colors, it also represents the sacral chakra and tantric sex. It stimulates a healthy sexual appetite and therefore is perfect for the Yuletide season (in my opinion). It’s also a very grounding stone, helpful when things tend to feel chaotic during the holidays. 4. Carnelian for Winter, the Season of Death Ancient Egyptians believed carnelian aided the dead into the afterlife and protected them throughout their journeys. Why is carnelian a good crystal for Yule and Winter Solstice? Because many souls cross over in the Winter…and carnelian would be a great stone to place with them in their casket or during cremation. Never mind the fact that Winter is the season of earthly death. It’s also a stone to promote vitality and abundance…ubiquitous themes during the Winter Solstice. 5. Sunstone: A Yule Sun Crystal Yule is the Winter Solstice and with the solstices we honor the sun. Basically any crystal or stone linked to the sun is appropriate for Yule. Including one of our favorites, Sunstone. Not only is it linked to the sun but it’s also great for self care, cleansing one’s aura, and ridding one’s mind and emotional body of negative energy. It “shines a light” so to speak in the darker corners of our minds and hearts to allow love to permeate. 6. Citrine Citrine as a crystal for Yule provides us with energy during a time when we may feel sleepy and sometimes even drained of energy from the holiday hustle and bustle. It’s great for recharging and aids in healing from depression and guilt. If you tend to suffer from nightmares in the Winter time (which is completely normal), citrine under the pillow rids negative energy and entities. It is also linked to the sun and therefore a wonderful Winter solstice stone. 7. Clear Quartz Seriously one of those diverse and versatile crystals, clear quartz is one that I have all over the house during the Winter holidays. The Greeks called it “krystallos” which means ice, therefore linking it to the Winter Solstice. It truly looks like hardened ice. And, just like ice, clear quartz is a powerful energy cleanser. When placed around the home at Yule, will help ward off or absorb negative vibes from visitors and family alike. 8. Rose Quartz Why is rose quartz a good crystal for Winter? Once again, self care and self love. We put so much time and effort into caring for others, particularly during the holidays, that we often neglect ourselves. By working with rose quartz amidst the holiday frenzy, you’ll draw that universal loving energy into your life and keep more of a balance. 9. Selenite Believe it or not, the moon is also an important part of Yule celebrations. After all, the Winter Solstice is the longest night of the year. And selenite is actually named for the goddess of the Moon, Selene. Therefore it carries qualities of the goddess herself and of the moon including increasing psychic abilities, dream work, and connecting to the Divine. We know divination is powerful at Yule, and selenite is a great stone with which to scry the future. And aids us in communicating with angels. Speaking of angels… 10. Angelite This crystal for Yule is named for its ability to unlock angelic consciousness. And what better time to focus on angelic realms than during the Winter Solstice? This pretty blue stone also aids in speaking one’s truth, inspiring compassion, and is linked to resurrection and rebirth. All key themes during the holidays. If you find you’re lacking compassion this year, or you need to invoke a little more compassion from others, angelite is the answer. 11. Moss Agate In addition to moss agate being a perfect Yule shade of green, it it is also the gardener’s talisman according to writer Judy Hall. If you’re a gardener and dreaming about your Spring garden in the dead of Winter, holding or wearing moss agate will give you those green vibes […]

Green Calcite Meaning & Properties: The WITCH’S HEART Stone https://otherworldlyoracle.com/green-calcite-meaning-properties/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=green-calcite-meaning-properties https://otherworldlyoracle.com/green-calcite-meaning-properties/#respond Fri, 05 Aug 2022 17:42:13 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=9015 Since the first time I held this stone in my hand, I knew it was special. It has a soothing, loving energy that permeates everything it touches. We call it the WITCH’S HEART stone for a few reasons of which we will explore here together. Learn Green Calcite meaning and its metaphysical and healing properties. Plus how to use it in your spiritual practice and daily life. I promise, you’ll thank me. First, What IS Green Calcite? Green calcite is quickly becoming one of the more popular crystals on the metaphysical market these days. And with good reason. This semiprecious stone is typically a light to emerald green shade and comes in raw or polished form. It was one of the first crystals I ever worked with in my practice and will forever be one of my favorites. Green calcite is mostly found in Romania, Mexico and parts of South America and is made up mostly of calcium carbonates. Which aligns perfectly with its emotional heart-healing abilities, since calcium is a necessary electrolyte for cardiac function and physical heart health. PLEASE NOTE: The information, including but not limited to, text, graphics, images and other material contained on this website are for informational purposes only. It is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health care provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition or treatment and before undertaking a new health care regimen, and never disregard professional medical advice or delay in seeking it because of something you have read on this website. Components of Green Calcite and Their POWERFUL Spiritual Properties Green calcite has a hardness of 3 and is made up mostly of calcium carbonate. Calcium carbonate is a substance found in limestone, eggshells, seashells, pearls and in human bones. Which links green calcite to sea life, birds, and even to human beings. Calcium carbonate is hexagonal in form. When we explore the spiritual meaning of the hexagon, it means a potential for life. Seed of opportunity and creation. In numerology, the 6 sides of calcium carbonate (and therefore green calcite) means perfection and completion. In its essence, green calcite’s properties in the physical point to its metaphysical properties and a sacred polarity: birth and death. Beginning and end. Industrially, calcite is used as a material in cement, which points to its protective and grounding qualities. It’s also, according to Gem Select, used in metal, glass and rubber materials. All materials used in constructing buildings, tools, windows, doors, and tires. Important objects in societal structure. Essentially, the green calcite meaning found in its physical applications solidifies its metaphysical and healing applications. Green Calcite HEALING Properties We believe everything that comes from the earth has healing properties. This means there are green calcite healing properties, when used properly, cleansed and charged. By no means is crystal healing a replacement or substitution for proper medical care. But when used in conjunction with medicine, it can be quite effective. If you’re unsure how to use crystals as healing aids, contact a qualified healer in your area. We recommend a shaman or reiki master. Promotes cardiovascular health including arteries, veins, and the heart itself Balances emotions and therefore promotes overall emotional and mental health Relieves some skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema Soothes nerves and aids in relieving anxiety Aids in destressing and decompressing Promotes increased strength in the bones and muscles Relieves joint pain and arthritis Reduces inflammation Reduces fever Takes the sting out of burns Calms neurological symptoms like tics and neurosis Helps intestinal diseases like Crohn’s and Colitis Growth in small children or those with small stature Relieves symptoms of anger-related disorders and disease Green Calcite Meaning and METAPHYSICAL Properties Green calcite is a powerful stone to use in your spiritual and magical practice. As we’ve said before, we call it the witch’s heart stone for a reason: it’s undeniable connection to the heart chakra. But green calcite has many metaphysical properties including: Soothes a broken heart Aligns and clears the heart chakra of negative energy and attachments Aids in emotional balance, particularly in romantic relationships Draws in money and brings prosperity to the home Green calcite’s made up of calcium carbonate and little to no iron means it’s a great stone to use when working with faeries, specifically flower and garden fairies A great gardening stone, aids in plant growth Linked to sea life and looks like seaglass = use when working with mermaid and sea goddess energies Draws prosperity into a business Aids in recalling past lives Aids in healing past life traumas and phobias Opens third eye Helps dissolve old beliefs and stagnant habits holding you back from a higher potential Green calcite’s meaning relating to the heart also encourages peace among arguing friends A great fertility stone Also a wonderful crystal to have around for familiar spirits, particularly of the animal kind Powerful healing stone for healers: Reiki practitioners, therapists, acupuncturists, etc. Remember too that GREEN is the color of abundance and other things: I like to always consider the color of the stone that I’m working with as part of its inherent magick. With green calcite, you’ll find much of it has a light green or light emerald color, almost like seaglass. Therefore the color green’s magical properties also apply to green calcite including prosperity, all matters of the heart, spiritual growth, gardening, working with the earth element, money, faery magic and more. And in a lighter green shade, also promotes peace and healing and connects us to Spring and renewal. How to Use The Green Calcite Meaning in Your Spiritual Practice How you choose to use green calcite is up to you. Everyone’s spiritual practice will be different from the next person’s because we are all individuals. The great thing about this stone is it has a plethora of spiritual, metaphysical and medicinal qualities to harness. And there’s truly no limit as to how […]

20 Samhain Herbs & Crystals for Your Autumn Spells & Rituals https://otherworldlyoracle.com/samhain-herbs-crystals/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=samhain-herbs-crystals https://otherworldlyoracle.com/samhain-herbs-crystals/#comments Tue, 05 Jul 2022 00:10:02 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=8852 The black cat scratches. The bat flies overhead. Witches twist and turn, excited in their beds. Samhain, Halloween, All Hallows Eve is nearly here. It’s time to plan our celebrations, feasts, and rituals. If you’re looking for ingredients for your Samhain sabbat spells, rituals, and festivities, you’ll find them here. Our 20+ favorite Samhain herbs and crystals to connect with ancestors, ward off evil, and bring prosperity for this enchanted Hallowe’en. Our 10 FAVORITE Samhain Herbs for Ancestor Work, Warding and More Samhain is the Celtic last harvest and was once considered the beginning of a New Year. The “veil” between the spirit world and our world is at its thinnest. Or rather, the doors between our realm and theirs are open during this time. You’ll hear people say Samhain is a liminal time, which means it’s neither here nor there. It’s “between” times or a bridge from one season to the next. And liminal times equal mischief and magic in every sense of the terms. It’s a great time for divination, protection rituals, charms to draw in prosperity, to connect with the ancestors, to release old habits and much more. Without further adieu, here’s our recommendations for Samhain herbs to include in your spells, rituals, and festivities this sabbat: 1. Mugwort for Dreams and Ancestor Work Mugwort is one of those well-known and loved Samhain herbs in the witchcraft community. It is mostly known for inducing lucid and prophetic dreams when drank as a tea or stuffed into a dream pillow. But it can also be beneficial when working with your ancestors this Samhain season. Ancestors often come to us in our dreams and through psychic visions, so mugwort is an essential herb in connecting with our beloved dead. Some paranormal investigators burn mugwort to attract ghosts. In addition to being attractive to the ancestors, it also carries protective qualities to ward off negative entities. NOTE: do not take mugwort internally if you are pregnant or nursing! 2. A Samhain Herb for Baking & Magick-Making: Cinnamon I don’t know about you but I love cinnamon. I don’t just use it on Samhain, I use it on Yule and basically year-round. The scent is evocative of Autumn and the herb itself packs a powerful punch in the kitchen AND in spells of all kinds. Cinnamon’s magic properties include protection, money, strength, love, amplification, divination and connection to the ancestors and the spirit world. Remember, you can use cinnamon in the kitchen in your pumpkin pies, hot apple cider, mulled wine, and cinnamon rolls. AND in your magick by adding to spell bags, bottles, jars, candle workings, oils, etc. 3. Bay Leaves for Samhain Divination If you’re the kind of pagan who loves to divinate on Samhain, bay leaves might be the perfect Samhain herb for you. Bay leaves have been known for centuries to enhance psychic abilities. Ancient Roman priests chewed on bay leaves to acquire messages from the gods. And the Oracle at Delphi was said to inhale the steam from brewing bay leaves in order to acquire her visions. You likely already have this herb in your kitchen pantry. 4. Rosemary for Warding and Purifying on Samhain If you’ve followed us for awhile, you’ll know how big of an addiction I have to rosemary in my kitchen and practice. I will literally recommend it for everything, including as an essential Samhain herb. It’s just one of those heal-all, do-all, amazing kind of herbs. If you plan to cast some powerful protection rituals around your house this Samhain, include rosemary in your warding, banishing, and cleansing rituals. It’s a purifying herb but doesn’t just remove negative vibes – it replaces the negative with positive vibes. 5. Tobacco for Ancestor Work A must have herb in spirit work, tobacco is used in Voodoo and Hoodoo traditions as offerings to the spirits. To many Native Americans, tobacco was smoked as an initiation to many things including friendships, alliances, and at the beginning of a long journey. But if you’re not of either of those traditions, that’s okay. Tobacco is a link to the otherworld, therefore to our ancestors, whoever they may be. In addition, giving tobacco to the ancestors we know enjoyed it during their lives is effective and a common practice. 5. Pumpkin Seeds for Prosperity I know pumpkin seeds aren’t exactly an herb, but just roll with me here. Pumpkin is indeed an inseparable symbol of the Autumn Samhain season. So why not use it in our magick? Kitchen witches may choose to collect the seeds from their carving pumpkins to roast in the oven with magical herbs and spices. Then eat for prosperity and protection in the coming Winter season. 6. Roses for Ancestor Work Rose petals, rosebuds, and rose essential oil tends to be a favorite among my maternal ancestors. The rose’s power is frequently underestimated. Not only is the rose potent for beauty rituals, it’s also powerful for protection spells AND for ancestor work, particularly with communication. Drip rose essential oil on your ancestor candle, spritz rose water around your ancestors’ altar space, and make rosebud tea in their honor. They’re also particularly beautiful scattered over your altar. Look for black and orange roses to amplify the Samhain vibes! 7. Rue: A POWERFUL Banishing Samhain Herb If you’ve ever grown rue or even had a whiff of fresh rue, you’ll know why it’s been used for centuries to banish evil, illness and the like. It has a pungent aroma you won’t find with any other. That’s why it’s a perfect Samhain herb. Since the spirits are out and about on Samhain, it’s best to protect your home and yourself from any negative influence. Keeping rue on your person or hanging by the front door wards off mischievous and evil spirits. It can be used in small quantities to flavor pork and beef dishes, too. But use in moderation. 8. Wormwood If burned, wormwood summons the dead. Be careful if burning – the fumes may be toxic. […]

AMETHYST Properties & Meaning: The POWERFUL Psychic Stone https://otherworldlyoracle.com/amethyst-properties/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=amethyst-properties https://otherworldlyoracle.com/amethyst-properties/#respond Fri, 01 Jul 2022 18:23:11 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=8802 There’s a reason your witch friend suggested amethyst as your first crystal. And it’s not just because it’s pretty, purple, and sparkly. This particular crystal packs a psychic punch. We’ll teach you all about amethyst properties, both magical and medicinal, plus its spiritual meaning and ways to use it in your practice. First, What IS Amethyst? Amethyst is one of the more popular crystals on the metaphysical market these days. And with good reason. This semiprecious crystal is typically a beautiful purple shade and sometimes sparkles depending on the cut and finish. It was one of the first crystals I ever worked with in my practice and will forever be one of my favorites. Amethyst is found worldwide and is made up of silicon dioxide and iron. So note: fairies might not particularly like this crystal because of the iron content. (If you’d like to find crystals that are favorable to the fae, learn about lepidolite here or green calcite.) Different Types of Amethyst Combinations & Their Properties There are multiple types of amethyst crystals in addition to the main stone. A few include amethyst phantom quartz, amethyst smoky quartz, elestial, lavender amethyst, Vera cruz, amethyst spirit quartz and amethyst herkimer. Most of these types are a combination of amethyst and another stone (i.e. amethyst herkimer is amethyst combined with herkimer diamond). Each of these carries the same properties of amethyst but adds the properties of the other stone with which its made. Here’s a few: Amethyst phantom quartz: in addition to the amethyst properties, also promote healing at a cellular level and in multiple dimensions Amethyst spirit quartz: aids in communication and spiritual work with the spirit world and other planes of existence (hence it’s name) Ametrine: a combination of amethyst and citrine, combines both properties together and connects the physical world with the spiritual with ease PLEASE NOTE: The information, including but not limited to, text, graphics, images and other material contained on this website are for informational purposes only. Components of Amethyst & Their Properties Amethyst is made up of silicon dioxide and iron. Each of these components has its own properties that are beneficial to the practitioner or amethyst wearer. Silicon dioxide is also called silica and is made up of silicon and oxygen. The earth’s crust is made up mostly of silicon and it’s present in the water, plants, soil, and even in our own bodies. Think about it like this – the same properties in the soil exist within you. And within the animals and plants around you. And the oxygen component, well, I would think that would be obvious. But if not, know this – we need oxygen to survive. We breathe it in and our blood cells carry it to every part of our body to aid in overall physical and mental functioning. When our bodies no longer get oxygen, they start to die. Thinking of silicon combined with oxygen in crystal form, we can see how powerful this stone truly is. And how it connects us to the earth and to each other. Amethyst Properties that Promote Healing Ancient peoples knew how to use crystals to heal physical, emotional and spiritual ailments. Today we are beginning to remember this form of energy healing. Amethyst is gaining more and more popularity for its healing properties. Here are just a few: Relieves respiratory symptoms Good for headaches General pain relief Stimulates hormone production Aids endocrine system Increases metabolism Detoxifies body and spirit Boosts immune system Relieves pain due to injuries, bruises, and skin disorders Helps with hearing disorders Good for digestive issues Soothes nerves and promotes calmness Promotes a restful sleep therefore relieving insomnia Helps with matters of the stomach Aids in relief of OCD symptoms Prevents intoxication (in fact, the ancient Greeks believed amethyst properties to be mainly centered on preventing alcoholism and drunkenness) Amethyst’s MAGICAL Properties Amethyst has long been one of my favorite stones to use in my magical practice. It’s the color, yes, but it’s also the vibes it emanates. First, if you’re looking for a crystal to increase your dreams and intuition, this is it. Amethyst is directly linked to the third eye and crown chakras, which we all know are the centers of psychic awareness and divine connection. In addition, here are the rest of the amethyst magical properties: Spiritual enlightenment and growth Enhances psychic abilities Increases intuition Promotes lucid dreams, prophetic dreams and astral projection Protects from negative entities attacking during astral travel Protects from psychic attack in general Multidimensional awareness Connection with the divine, the Universe, angelic beings, etc. Transmutes negative energy into positive energy Has a harmonizing and purifying effect on the aura and mind Promotes new ideas and is inspiring Self reflection and shadow work Balances emotions Amethyst properties include protection from thievery Increases contentment in daily life Promotes discernment and decision-making Relieves feelings of shame Purifies the third eye, crown chakra, and aura overall Remember too that PURPLE is the color of magick and other things: I like to always consider the color of the stone that I’m working with as part of its inherent magick. With amethyst, you’ll find much of it has a lavender or purple shade. Therefore the color purple’s magical properties also apply to amethyst including magick in general, metaphysics, energy healing, dreams, spirituality, imagination, wisdom, luxury, royalty, and emotional sensitivity. How to Use These Amethyst Properties in Your Spiritual Practice How you choose to use amethyst is up to you. Everyone’s spiritual practice will be different from the next person’s because we are all individuals. The great thing about […]

Lepidolite: The FAIRY Crystal with Healing & Magical Properties https://otherworldlyoracle.com/lepidolite/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=lepidolite https://otherworldlyoracle.com/lepidolite/#respond Wed, 22 Jun 2022 14:43:23 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=8701 If you’ve ever held lepidolite in your hand, you’ll understand when I say it’s a mystical stone. Some might even say it’s an enchanted key that opens the door to the land of the fae. When I work with the good folk, I frequently use this amazing stone. Come with me on a journey to learn all about the lepidolite crystal’s spiritual uses, its healing and magical properties. Plus how you can harness its energy and boost the magical vibes in your daily life. First, What IS the Lepidolite Crystal? Lepidolite is a mineral in the silicate family, a type of rock that makes up nearly the entirety of the earth’s surface. Its colors set it apart from others – beautiful shades of lilac-gray and rose. This stone is a source of lithium as well as the alkali metal rubidium. Because it’s a pegmatite rock, it’s origins are igneous meaning its made from the cooling and hardening of volcanic lava. It’s interesting to note that lepidolite comes from a group of trioctahedral micas, which typically contain iron in some form. However, the fairy stone contains lithium in place of iron. Therefore making it tolerable and favorable to the fae (since fairies are often irritated or even banished by iron). It’s mostly found in quartz and granite formations in California, Brazil, Russia, Canada and Madagascar. The Greek SCALE Stone and Sacred Geometry The word Lepidolite stems from a Greek word that means scale. Essentially, lepidolite is all about balancing the scales. Neptune and Jupiter rule this beautiful crystal and Libra is its zodiac sign. Being that lepidolite is a form of Mica, we see ties to ancient cultures that might have found it of worth. According to the New World Encyclopedia, Ancient Egyptians, Aztecs, Romans and Greeks all found use of Mica for its physical and spiritual properties. In Mexico City, the ancient site Teotihuacan features pyramids made for the sun by ancient peoples using mica. And in India, the bright colors of the Holi festival contain mica. Lepidolite’s chemical shape is tri-octahedral. That might sound complex, and it is. A mineral that’s tri-octahedral has occupied all 3 octahedral spaces available, meaning there’s 3 sets of 8 sides. When we add those numbers together we get 24 which reduces down to 6. In numerology, the number 6 represents unconditional love, completion, and harmony. And if you look at a tri-octahedral shape in picture form, you’ll notice its uncanny evocation of sacred geometry. Lepidolite Crystal Healing Properties Ancient peoples knew how to use crystals to heal physical, emotional and spiritual ailments. Today we are beginning to remember this form of energy healing. Lepidolite is gaining more and more popularity for its healing properties. Here are just a few: Soothes nerves and promotes calmness Aids in relieving and removing addictions Breaks through mental dependencies and emotional blockages Helps balance bipolar disorder (it contains high amounts of lithium) Used to ease obsessive thoughts and compulsions Boosts immune system Lepidolite relieves anger and depression Healers employ lepidolite in easing symptoms of Alzheimers, epilepsy, and other neurological disorders Detoxifies skin, muscles and tendons Relieves nerve pain and neuralgia Helps one relax and loosen strained muscles Used in menopause to relieve symptoms Tendonitis Allergies DNA Restructuring and cellular healing Lepidolite’s MAGICAL Properties Lepidolite has long been one of my favorite stones to use in my magical practice. It’s the color, yes, but it’s also the vibes it emanates. First, if you’re looking for a crystal to jive with otherworldly beings, this is it. As mentioned before, lepidolite contains no iron which wards off the fae and its found in the earth’s surface. Making this a stone the fae enjoy having around. In addition, here are the rest of the lepidolite magical properties: Fairy stone: aids in communication with the fae Great balancing stone: helps when there’s an imbalance in the aura and chakras Wards off negative vibrations in your environment and in one’s aura Brings cosmic awareness: connection with divinity, the universe, and all beings within it Used in shamanic journeying Aids in accessing the Akashic Records to learn of one’s past/present/future lives Holds a mirror up to show one’s emotional blockages so they can be removed Ushers you into the future and helps let go of the past Finds balance between work and family life Great to use in ancestor work since lepidolite is from the earth’s surface, where the ancestors lie Clears the air of electromagnetic vibes coming off of computers and other electronics Helps when reconciling rocky relationships (pun intended) Assists students in studying before a big test – promotes memory and focus Remember too that PURPLE is the color of magick and other things: I like to always consider the color of the stone that I’m working with as part of its inherent magick. With lepidolite, you’ll find much of it has a lavender or purple shade. Therefore the color purple’s magical properties also apply to purple lepidolite including magick in general, metaphysics, energy healing, dreams, spirituality, imagination, wisdom, luxury, royalty, and emotional sensitivity. OR if Lepidolite has a Rose color: If your stone has more of a rosy tint, apply the color red’s magical properties too. Including passion, motivation, dedication, anger, lust, stimulation, attention, protection, and ancestor work (being linked to blood and the root chakra). How to Use Lepidolite in Your Spiritual Practice How you choose to use lepidolite is up to you. Everyone’s spiritual practice will be different […]

Crystals for LOVE: 20 Stones to Attract Your Soul Mate https://otherworldlyoracle.com/crystals-for-love/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=crystals-for-love https://otherworldlyoracle.com/crystals-for-love/#respond Wed, 16 Feb 2022 12:26:45 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=8091 We may not have the keys to the universe. But if we did, it would be made up of one thing – love. Love is the language all of our hearts understand and speak. We all want to give love and receive it. But sometimes we need help finding the right kind of love. That healthy, fiery yet comforting love. The kind we find in a soul mate or kindred spirit. Whether you’re looking for your soul mate or a best friend, we believe crystals can help. Here’s our favorite 20+ crystals for love. First, Why Use Crystals for Love? They say a diamond is a girl’s best friend. And then we give our future significant others rings to seal our commitment. But did you ever stop and think where this tradition originated? Why do we use gemstones to show our love to one another? Gemstones, and crystals, hold specific energies within them. Energies imbued upon them during the creation process – be it deep in a mine, at the bottom of a lake, or from ancient volcanic eruption. Crystals and gemstones are gifts to us from Mother Earth herself. But besides giving gemstone jewelry to your potential lover, how do we use crystals to draw love into our lives? Crystals work like an amulet – the essence sends out signals in the ether and draws a certain energy towards it. And if you wear or carry the crystal on you, this means you’ll draw that energy towards you too. Crystals and stones can be used as a magnetic beacon for love. 20+ Crystals for Love: Attract a Soul Mate, Kindred Friend Or Boost Self Love There are many stones and crystals used to attract love and friendship. And sometimes a crystal that has no association with love might be the right crystal for you to draw love into your life. Mother Earth works in amazing ways and she knows what we need better than we do. And she will provide it. But if you’d like some suggestions, here’s our favorite high-vibing, lovey crystals: 1. Jade Our favorite crystal for love is jade. Jade is a light green stone and has been an incredibly popular one in parts of Asia for centuries. It also has a sacred place in ancient indigenous Mesoamerican societies. Jade is green and therefore links directly to the heart chakra – the energy center of our bodies that gives and receives love. 2. Rose Quartz Rose quartz is crystal that is typically recommended for love of ANY kind. It’s also linked to your heart chakra, and it’s soothing pink color brings feelings of warmth and comfort. This crystal is great for self love, friendship, and romantic love. We love wearing rose quartz to calm our nerves and boost self confidence, especially when paired with self care rituals like herbal baths, Reiki sessions, meditation, etc. Honestly, I have rose quartz in random places in my house to keep the loving vibes going. 3. Bloodstone Bloodstone might not be the first crystal for love you’d think of. But I believe in its power to get the love flowing in both directions (to and from you). In order to love others fully, we have to learn to love ourselves too. Many of us struggle with this – self love and care. And therefore we may struggle in fully giving love to others in healthy, productive ways. Bloodstone works to improve circulation in the body, AND circulation of love from our auras to others’. The green color links it to the heart, as well as the red flecks. 4. Moss Agate: An Earthy, Grounding Crystal for Love One of the first stones I ever had was a moss agate. Being that green is my favorite color, it just made sense at the time to get this green stone. Interestingly, moss agate is called the gardener’s stone because it aids growth in the garden. I believe in addition to helping growth in the garden on the physical plane, it also aids in helping love grow in the spiritual. Plus the fact that is brings in that loving, Mother Earth energy. 5. Red Jasper for Past Life Love & Healing Red jasper is a great crystal for love – specifically physically romantic love in that it promotes sexual compatibility. It’s also frequently used when learning and practicing tantric sex. Its dark red color connects it to the base and sacral chakras – both energy centers of pleasure and creation. In addition, red jasper is beneficial in healing past life trauma, particularly when it comes to unrequited love. 6. Amazonite If you’re struggling with communication in any relationship, amazonite aids in allowing people to see both sides of the story. It’s a mind opener! In situations where things are left unsaid, this crystal for love gets communication flowing in all directions. It’s pretty teal-green color links it to the heart chakra and links the heart to the throat. 7. Sugilite for Love This beautiful stone for love is beneficial for couples who are going through a tough time. If you’re struggling to keep your relationship going or need guidance in your marriage, sugilite’s energy helps considerably. It’s even better if you and your partner can wear it, particularly during marital counseling or conversations of a difficult nature. It’s a balancing stone. And it’s really pretty. 8. Carnelian A semi-precious dark orange stone, and a beautiful crystal for love, carnelian works wonders for one’s confidence. If you’re needing a boost of self confidence before a big date, wear or carry a piece of carnelian on you. In addition, if you leave carnelian out in the sun, it turns darker orange as the iron inside oxidizes. This is a beautiful symbol of how love can deepen over time. Carnelian is linked to the sacral chakra, and therefore supports reproductive health and fertility. 9. Turquoise Turquoise is a crystal for love in that it protects and shields your love with your significant other. It’s been used […]

What Is A Hag Stone? Lore, Magick & Where to Find Hag Stones https://otherworldlyoracle.com/what-is-a-hag-stone/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=what-is-a-hag-stone https://otherworldlyoracle.com/what-is-a-hag-stone/#comments Thu, 03 Feb 2022 18:13:50 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7797 Hag stones, also called holey stones, are curious little charms found in Celtic lore that in modern times are gaining popularity in the magical community. You might have heard them called holey stones, Odin stones, or even fairy stones. But they are all technically the same thing. In this article, we answer the question, what is a hag stone? We dive into their lore and magick, plus where to find these magical little objects. What is a Hag Stone? Origins and Lore Is it a stone that’s come from a hag? No, not necessarily. Though hags like me do enjoy having these stones around. To the point – they are rocks or even pieces of hardened coral that have a hole straight through them. Here’s the key to knowing if you have a hag stone or not – hold the hole up to your eye and see through it. If you can’t see straight through to the other side, it’s not a hag stone. Hag stones are made by natural wear and tear from the elements: water, wind, and erosion over time. They’re steeped in folklore worldwide and have many names. You might have heard them also called holey stones, faerie stones, witch stones, or Odin’s stones. Depending on the region, you’ll hear hag stones called different things because of the various legends attached to them. Some sources also claim they’re the same thing as adder stones or serpent eggs, but there’s no concrete evidence to connect the adder’s stone of ancient myth to the hag stone. Why They’re Also Called Odin’s Stones Why are they called Odin’s stones? In an ancient poem, Odin has a dwarf drill a hole through a magical auger stone. The dwarf is reluctant but finishes the work. Odin shifts into a snake and enters the stone, only to shift into a young man on the other side. You see, the stone gave Odin the ability to move between worlds and shapeshift with ease. Odin’s stone helped him steal the mead of poetry. Hag stones are considered good luck. They’re amulets worn to ward off illness, evil spirits, and negative energy in general. But they’re also known to bring prosperity and health. Place them around the home, on your altar, or wear one to harness its full protective powers. Legend has it Druids once wore these stones around their neck as a sort of badge of honor or status. The Cailleach and Hagstones I recently began working with the goddess Cailleach from Scottish-Irish folklore and history. She’s an ever-present, ancient deity that is believed to have been brought to Ireland by the Celtiberians (Celts from the area that’s modern day Spain and Portugal). She may predate the Celts, even. This crone goddess was also a giantess, who carried stones in her apron which fell out and crashed into the British Isles and Ireland. Thereby shaping the land. I believe the hagstone is firstly related to her for this reason. But also because she is considered a divine “hag”, a divine ancestor and one of the fairy people. Where to Find Hag Stones Hag stones can be purchased online or in metaphysical shops. They can also be given to you. HOWEVER, the best way to find a hag stone is to be gifted one by nature herself. Truthfully, I searched for these magical charms for YEARS. Every time I went to the beach or to the creek, I looked. But I never found one. Until one day my daughter pulled three of them up from the ocean bed at the beach. It’s always when you least expect it, and when the otherworld feels you’re ready for the magick. It’s easier to find them at the ocean beach after a storm OR after a round of dredging where the sandy ocean bottom has been stirred up. (You might even find a prehistoric shark’s tooth) Don’t just comb the shoreline where you can see, get into the water knee deep and grab handfuls of sand. See if this methods turns up a holey stone. It was effective for my daughter! I’ve heard people say it’s not a true hag stone if you find it at the beach. These folks are misinformed. A hag stone can be found at ANY kind of beach including the shoreline at the ocean, river, creek, lake, etc. If you find a stone with a hole straight through it near a body of water or on a shoreline, it’s an authentic hag stone and it was meant for you! How to Use Them in Your Magick So you’ve found a hag stone or three or four. What do you do with them now? The options are endless. Truly. However you feel drawn to use them is how you should use them. But here are a few ways in which I use hag stones in my magickal practice. For Protection First, as a form of protection. Which aligns with old British lore. By hanging a hag stone on a red string and hanging it by your front door, you ward off evil in many forms. Hanging a hag stone with any cord, thread or string is protective in general and may align with the concept of the union between male and female (string enters hole). Some see the stone as a symbol of the goddess’ womb, and therefore carrying her protective, nurturing essence. Placing a box of holed stones beneath your front porch guards the household as well. According to author Gemma Gary in her book Silent As the Trees, one particular hagstone artifact is housed in the Scarborough Museums Trust’s Collection in England. This stone is “threaded onto knotted twine, and is labelled a ‘marestane’. It was prepared and sold by an Exmouth wise woman in 1910 to be hung on a bedstead to ward off nightmares.” In addition, the reason they are called hag stones is for this same reason – to prevent a hag from sitting on your chest at night (the […]

Black Obsidian Metaphysical Properties, Spiritual and Daily Uses https://otherworldlyoracle.com/black-obsidian-metaphysical-properties/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=black-obsidian-metaphysical-properties https://otherworldlyoracle.com/black-obsidian-metaphysical-properties/#respond Mon, 31 Jan 2022 00:46:38 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7980 Whether you’ve worn or held black obsidian, you’ll understand its power. While black tourmaline and onyx are also black stones, there’s something specifically unique to black obsidian that draws magical folks in. It’s been used for centuries by various cultures for various magical and medicinal purposes. The photo below is of a beach in Iceland with sand that’s made of black obsidian. How majestic. Let’s explore black obsidian metaphysical properties AND learn how to use this divine stone in our spiritual practices and daily lives. First, What is Black Obsidian? To put it simply, black obsidian is volcanic glass – it’s formed from felsic lava and is riddled with elements like sodium, oxygen, potassium and more. Mexico is one of the biggest producers of black obsidian, but it’s also found worldwide in volcanic regions like Argentina, Iceland, New Zealand, Peru and even in the United States. The best way to describe black obsidian is it looks like beautiful, shiny black glass. However, that doesn’t mean that all obsidian is pure black in color. Some other obsidian colors include snowflake (black with white spots), dark brown, gray, and with iridescent tints. Because its made from lava, it is hard and brittle which means it chips easily. It has a long history of use in many ancient cultures… Weaponry, Tools and Reflections Black obsidian has been used for hundreds of thousands of years. We have archaeological evidence of its use dating back to 700,000 BC. That’s a long freaking time ago. Apparently our prehistoric ancestors figured out we could fracture obsidian and form it into tools and even into weapons like blades and arrowheads. This practice has continued into modern times, at least with decorative objects. The Aztecs and Mayans were particularly fond of obsidian and carved it into ritual pieces, decorations, and mirrors. Rumor has it the Aztecs used obsidian mirrors in malefic magic, and still others peered into its inky black depths to divine the future. Black Obsidian Metaphysical Properties In our opinion and experience, this stone is one of the most magical on the planet. The ancients knew it. And once you work closely with it, you’ll know it. Just as obsidian is used reflectively in the physical, it’s also used reflectively in the spiritual. Here’s black obsidian’s metaphysical properties: Helps expose and heal past life trauma Protection from evil spirits and illness Wards off negative energy of all kinds Shields against toxic relationships and situations Blocks psychic attack, sleep paralysis, and night terrors Brings clarity of mind and memory Stops greed and abuse of power in authoritative office and positions Divination with a black obsidian mirror, crystal ball or formed piece Grounds negative energy Calls back the soul in shamanic journeys Aids in deep shadow work Helps in healing generational curses and ancestral cycles Great to have in the office – helps analyze business decisions and promotes self confidence Promotes spontaneity and shakes up stagnance Brings strength and courage Removes spiritual and emotional blockages Promotes compassion Calming in stressful situations Removes blockages in the root chakra Remember too that black obsidian’s color is magical in and of itself. So obsidian that’s black in color takes on all of the magical attributes of that color including: Mysteries of the Universe Wisdom Wards negativity Absorbs negativity Protection from evil spirits and illness Shadow work Binding, banishing and reversals Quietness/silence Solitude Mourning Life/death/rebirth cycle Black Obsidian’s Medicinal Properties Because black obsidian shines a light on nearly all situations, it can also be used to shine a light onto complex medical cases. It provides insight to the cause of disease – physical and mental. It’s been used by healers for thousands of years and has the following medicinal properties: Promotes good circulation Detoxification In warming the extremities Relieves arthritis and joint pain Relieves menstrual and digestive cramps Beneficial for an enlarged prostate Apache tear: aids in absorption of Vitamins C and D Removes blockages of all kinds, particularly in the lower half of the body Please note – black obsidian is not a medicine and should not be taken internally. When we talk about crystals having medicinal properties, these properties are accessed with specific healing techniques. With healings performed by experienced, trained crystal and energy healers like Reiki masters, crystal healers, Chinese doctors, energy workers, etc. However, if you want to wear or hold black obsidian with the intention to aid in healing your body, go for it! How to Use Black Obsidian in Your Spiritual Practice How you choose to use black obsidian is up to you. Everyone’s spiritual practice will be different from the next person’s because we are all individuals. The great thing about this stone is it has a plethora of spiritual, metaphysical and medicinal qualities to harness. And there’s truly no limit as to how you can use black obsidian. My favorite way to use this stone is simply holding it when I need to feel grounded, ward negative energy, or prevent nightmares. Here’s a few more ideas: Black mirror scrying OR scrying with a large tumbled piece or crystal ball Enchant jewelry and use as an amulet or talisman Add to spell jars and witch bottles Add to spell bags Place around the tub during ritual baths Encircle your candles in candle rituals and spells Hold or wear during meditations Hold, wear, or place on the body during chakra alignments Use along with Reiki in healing […]

How to Activate Moldavite PLUS 7 Uses for Healing and Magick https://otherworldlyoracle.com/how-to-activate-moldavite-uses/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=how-to-activate-moldavite-uses https://otherworldlyoracle.com/how-to-activate-moldavite-uses/#comments Tue, 26 Oct 2021 18:14:10 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7509 For awhile there, everyone was all about that moldavite life. And, being that I’m not a big crystal pusher, I was sort of remiss to buy this popular stone. But I kept hearing the word over and over and, eventually, I caved and bought a piece of it. Raw authentic moldavite. I’ve been working with its energies for a few months now. And so I figured I’d share how to use moldavite and also how to activate moldavite. What is Moldavite? Put simply, moldavite is a crystal believed to have healing and magickal properties. What makes this stone so special? Moldavite comes from a place in the earth that was touched by a fallen meteor millions of years ago. So, the belief is that these stones absorbed the energy from an ancient piece of outer space. This mysterious stone is forest green to nearly black in color. And it is part of the tektite family of rock. It’s high-vibrational and emits intense energy frequencies. When I unwrapped my piece of moldavite from its package, I immediately felt a strong, pulsating vibration radiating from it and into the palm of my hand. Honestly, I’ve never felt such a strong energy from any stone (and I’ve owned quite a few in my lifetime). I wasn’t expecting that! How to Find Authentic Moldavite With the current new age trend, spiritual folks have flocked to the world of healing crystals. And moldavite is no exception. In fact, moldavite has seen a huge boom in sales in the past few years. Unfortunately, with any material item in demand, you’ll have people trying to falsify the product to make a few extra bucks. So, yes, it is possible to buy fake moldavite on the market. Here’s a few ways to tell if it’s authentic moldavite: Authentic moldavite is typically sold from the Czech Republic It has bubbles and inclusions in it (it won’t be perfectly smooth in shape and texture) The fake moldavite will look wet or shiny (authentic pieces have variations in texture and color) Moldavite isn’t cheap. If you spend your money on a piece of this amazing stone, do your research first. Choose a trusted seller with good reviews. When I purchased mine, I found a seller on Etsy who had lots of positive reviews. In addition, I made sure it was coming from the Czech Republic and that the photos showed pieces that looked real, according to the specs above. When I received it in the mail, I opened it and knew immediately that it was real. I could feel the stone pulsating and tingling! This is a powerful stone, my friends. How to Activate Moldavite When you hear “how to activate moldavite”, it almost sounds like we’re working on a top secret space mission, doesn’t it? Well, that’s because it kind of is! But instead of thinking too scientifically, let’s think spiritually. What does it mean to “activate” a crystal or any spiritual tool, for that matter? It means to charge it with spiritual energy or awaken it’s own energy. There are different ways to activate moldavite, and depending on your preferences, you may like one way over another. I recommend experimenting with different charging rituals and see what works best for you. Ways to Activate Your Moldavite First, cleanse your piece of moldavite using smoke or by burying it in earth. If you don’t know how to cleanse, click here to learn more. Cleansing is important because crystals have a tendency to absorb energies from their environment. Both bad and good. Next, choose a charging ritual to imbue your moldavite with positive energy and awaken it’s own powerful vibrations: How to activate moldavite by moonlight: set your moldavite outside or in a windowsill where the moonlight will touch it. This is most effective on a full moon. Leave the moldavite out over night, then remove in the morning. How to activate moldavite with your own energy: hold your moldavite between your hands and close your eyes. Feel it’s vibrations. Feel it radiating universal divine energy, flowing into one palm. Then climbing your arm, traveling through your heart and down your opposite arm. Then flowing back into itself. You can also use earth energy to charge your moldavite by burying it in soil for 3 days. Charging your moldavite with water is also a possibility. This stone isn’t water soluble Meditating with your moldavite held to your heart chakra is another way to activate its divine energy How to Use Moldavite: 7 Ways for Healing and Magick Despite moldavite’s mixed reviews, my feeling is – if you like it, you can use it in your magick. Experiment with different ways to use moldavite. Here are 7 ways you can use moldavite for healing and magick: 1. Starseed Origins and Awakenings There was a rumour going around that in order to feel moldavite’s energy or activate its energy, you must be of starseed origin. Honestly, I know I’ve had starseed incarnations but I don’t consider myself a full-fledged starseed. And as soon as I opened my moldavite, it was like lightning in my hand. Energizing and exciting me! Here’s my thoughts on it – you don’t have to be a starseed to connect with moldavite. You DO have to be receptive to working with its unique vibrations. HOWEVER, if you feel you have starseed origins, moldavite may help you awaken to those dimensions. 2. Moldavite Helps You Connect to the Universe Because moldavite was “touched” by a meteor millions of years ago, it’s likely it carries the energy of outer space. Which means that moldavite will help foster a connection to the universe. Use it in meditation and Reiki sessions to call on your spirit guides, particularly if you have otherworldly star beings, ascended masters or angels as guides. I don’t recommend sleeping with it, though others have tried it and connected to their guides in dream time. 3. Warding negative energy After you’ve activated your moldavite, it has SO many uses. […]

Charging Crystals and Moon Water: Your Most FAQ Answered! https://otherworldlyoracle.com/charging-crystals-moon-water/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=charging-crystals-moon-water https://otherworldlyoracle.com/charging-crystals-moon-water/#comments Wed, 04 Nov 2020 18:07:51 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=5795 Each time the Full Moon appears, you’ll also see people talking about charging crystals and making moon water. And while these recipes and processes seem simple, sometimes there’s other factors that make them seem complex! Here we answer all of YOUR frequently asked questions and explain how to effectively charge your crystals, make moon water, and make sun water. Charging Crystals FAQ First, let’s answer what it means to charge crystals. I see a lot of folks confusing cleansing with charging. Cleansing your crystals before use means to energetically remove/strip bad energy from the crystal. Charging crystals means to infuse or “fill up” your crystals with energy. Similar to charging a phone! If you want to learn how to cleanse your crystals click here. 1. What are some ways of charging crystals? I always recommend using the sun or moon to charge your crystals with energy. Depending on the kind of energy you want, that is. For example, charging a piece of citrine with sunlight is most effective if you’re using the citrine for energy yourself (don’t leave it out too long or it can fade, see below for more info). Charging amethyst crystals with moon energy makes sense because amethyst is an intuitive, dream-working stone in alignment with the moon’s vibrations. 2. How long should I leave my crystals to charge in the moon or sun? Charging crystals under the moon means you can leave them out as long as you’d like, as long as the sun doesn’t hit them in the morning. I typically leave my crystals out overnight, as it’s easiest, and then when I wake up I bring them in. But if you only have 3 hours to leave the crystals out, that’s fine too! If you’re charging crystals by sunlight, the same rule applies. HOWEVER…this brings me to my next question and answer… 3. Can the sun damage my charging crystals? Do your research before setting your stones and crystals to charge in the sunlight. Some crystals will fade in sunlight including topaz, sapphire, turquoise, and even quartz crystals like citrine. WAIT…didn’t I say to charge citrine in the sunlight? Yes, I did. But there’s a caveat – don’t leave it out so long in direct sunlight that it fades! The point here is this – do your due research, folks! 4. How often should I charge my crystals? That depends on how often you use your crystals. If you use a crystal daily, consider re-charging it once a month on the Full Moon, etc. If you only use that crystal once every few months, re-charge it once every few months. Truly there’s no right or wrong answer here – it’s up to you how often you want to charge your stones! See the next question and answer about re-using crystals. 5. Can I re-use a crystal after it’s been used in a spell? Again, this is truly up to you, but I believe you can re-use crystals after using them in spell work. But for me, it depends on the type of spell done AND if the spell has completely manifested or not. For example, if I use a piece of bloodstone in a healing spell to extract a blood disease/illness, I would choose NOT to re-use that stone. However, if I used a piece of rose quartz in my room to elevate the love vibes – YES I will re-use that crystal! I simply cleanse it then re-charge it. 6. Does the moon or sun cleanse my crystals in addition to charging them? This is something I’ve mentioned before, but a lot of folks think the sun or moon cleanses AND charges at the same time. While you can make up your own mind about this, I have always used one of the 4 elements to cleanse my crystals and then subsequently used the sun or moonlight to charge them. Look at it this way – when you plug your phone in to the charger…does the charger clean your phone too? No. Cleanse then charge. 7. Do my crystals have to be hit by direct moonlight? What if it’s a cloudy night and the moon barely peaks out from the cloud cover? Does this mean my crystals won’t be charged? In my experience, my crystals are still charged by the moon’s light even on cloudy nights. Just because you can’t see the moon through the clouds doesn’t mean the energy isn’t there. However, if you have a clear night with the full moon’s light directly on your crystals, you may get a more powerful charge. Charging Moon Water: FAQ Moon charged water has become a popular spell ingredient in modern witchcraft. That’s because it’s easy to make and powerful! Here’s your frequently asked questions about charging moon water: 1. How do I charge moon water? Making moon water is pretty simple: fill a vessel with water and set it outside to soak up the moonlight. The water source, vessel, and where you put it is up to you. But to give you a further understanding, read through the following FAQ on charging moon water. Or click here to read a full article on how to make moon water. 2. What kind of jar or bowl can I use? While it’s perfectly acceptable to use whatever you have on hand, I’ve found it best to use a glass or silver vessel. Silver is traditional because silver is the metal of the moon. However, most people don’t have a silver bowl or bottle around, SO glass is also great! If all you have is a plastic bottle, that works too. I think most people recommend not to use plastic because it’s bad for the environment and it’s not as natural as glass. Try it out and see! 3. How long do I leave the moon water out to charge? I typically leave my moon water out to charge overnight then remove it in the morning before the sunlight has touched it. But if you only […]
