She explained to me that she once had a vivid vision about giving birth under a red moon; that there was blood on the moon. This was a spiritual initiation, of sorts, and stuck with her for her entire life. She felt it was actually a memory from a past life. I’ve never had such a powerful vision of the Blood Moon, but I do find it a potent time for ritual. In this article, we explore the blood moon meaning, its rich history, and clear up some confusion on lunar eclipse rituals. What is a Blood Moon, Exactly? You’ve probably heard the term Blood Moon. But does this mean the moon looks like it’s covered in blood or that it’s tinted red? When people say a Blood Moon is coming, it actually means there will be a total lunar eclipse. According to NASA, “during a total lunar eclipse, the entire Moon falls within the darkest part of Earth’s shadow, called the umbra. When the Moon is within the umbra, it will turn a reddish hue.” And according to the National Weather Service, lunar eclipses, on average, occur once or twice a year. But when they do, they bring recognizable energy shifts. Blood Moon Meaning, Intentions, and Clearing up Misinformation Working magick or performing ritual on a Blood Moon comes with a lot of backlash from the metaphysical community. I’ve literally heard people say not to perform ritual on a Lunar Eclipse (aka Blood Moon), not to collect moon water or charge one’s tools or crystals, and sometimes it’s discouraged from even being outside of one’s own home. Why are folks so scared of the Blood Moon? I have a feeling it has something to do with the word “blood” and the taboo around it. You’ll also hear people say working a ritual on the Blood Moon is “forbidden” and causes misfortune and chaos. I don’t believe that, because I’ve never had that experience. If you feel safe or drawn to working magick or performing ritual on a Blood Moon, I say go for it. There’s no lunar eclipse ritual police…that I know of. A Shift in Energy Causes Anxiety to Some… What I will say is this – the Blood Moon meaning is a powerful one, and its effects are not to be taken lightly. At the same time, I’ve always felt working with the moon isn’t to be taken lightly…no matter the phase or astrological event.Lunar Eclipses bring intense shifts in energy in our environment, as well as within ourselves. Most people are afraid of change, therefore it makes sense they would also be afraid of the Lunar Eclipse or the Blood Moon. Let’s talk about the energy and intentions surrounding the Blood Moon Meaning: Typically, a Full Moon’s energy is all about manifesting and bringing desires into reality. And yes, a lot of sources online will tell you to use the Full Moon to release things…to banish things from your life. But I learned a different way. I learned we release on the Waning Moon…not on the Full Moon. Conversely, a Lunar Eclipse and a Blood Moon is the time when releasing on a Full Moon DOES make sense and aligns with the moon’s energies. Blood Moon Meaning: Folklore and Superstitions I we dig into ancient beliefs about the Blood Moon, we notice a pattern of fear and reluctance. This fear of the Blood Moon might be ingrained in us, which would explain why so many magical practitioners warn against doing magick on the lunar eclipse. According to Scroll.in, the Blood Moon was considered an attack against the king in Ancient Mesopotamia. I assume this is because they believed the king was some sort of god or incarnated child of the moon. During the Lunar Eclipse, a “temp” King would replace the real king until the eclipse was over. This ensured the real king safety during this uncertain time. In addition, many ancient cultures believed when there was blood on the moon that there would be impending war and death. The Incans believed the great jaguar was attacking the moon and soon might turn his attention to Earth. So the custom was to try to scare the jaguar off with war cries and cries of wolves. While these beliefs seem silly to us, we have to remember that they didn’t have science and telescopes like we do today. So when the sun or the moon looked different, it was a bit unnerving to say the least. And because our ancient ancestors believed the Sun and the Moon were either divine beings themselves OR were connected to the gods, any type of astrological event that changed their appearance would bring anxiety. I mean, when we see a total solar eclipse in modern times, we are still amazed and sometimes even a bit frightened. Not to mention how people seem to lose their minds every Full Moon. Blood Moon Magick: Crystals and Herbs The crystals and herbs we recommend in our lunar eclipse blood moon rituals below are indeed powerful and in alignment with the energy of this time. But you should feel free to adapt these rituals to your own needs and preferences. That’s why we’re giving you some more ideas as to what crystals and herbs align with the Blood Moon: Crystals Herbs Blood Agate Aloe Bloodstone Bleeding Heart (toxic) Clear quartz Cucumber Drusy quartz Eucalyptus Citrine spirit quartz Jasmine Yellow sapphire Moonflower Moonstone Mugwort Opal Wormwood Selenite Yarrow Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse Ritual for Releasing a Toxic Relationship During a lunar eclipse, the Earth blocks out the Moon’s light and this phenomenon sometimes turns the moon a reddish color. Therefore, we consider these aspects when performing this lunar eclipse ritual to release and banish toxic relationships from our lives. Here’s what you’ll need: How to perform this Blood Moon Ritual: Blood Moon Ritual for Leaving the Old Self Behind Another releasing type of […]

Magical Birthdays: YOUR Moon Phase, Patron Goddess, Zodiac and More! https://otherworldlyoracle.com/magical-birthdays/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=magical-birthdays https://otherworldlyoracle.com/magical-birthdays/#comments Mon, 13 Dec 2021 19:26:36 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=7753 Did you know your birthday is MAGICAL? Yes, you! Everyone on this planet was born on a special day. And, I’ll let you in on a little secret, if you’re a witch or magical being, your birthday is probably that much more special! Maybe you’re thinking, I already know my zodiac sign. But birthdays are more than just your zodiac sign. Come with me and explore the magical origins of the birthday celebration PLUS find out how you can find the magic in your birthday! Magical Birthday Origins Celebrating birthdays is not a modern invention. Nor is it particularly “Christian”. Scholars believe birthday celebrations date to ancient pagan times. There’s reference to the ancient Romans being the “first” to celebrate the common man’s birthday. At least his fiftieth. On a man’s fiftieth birthday, he was given a cake. And the birthday candles are supposedly ancient Greek in origin. Candle-adorned cakes were given to the goddess Artemis and the candles were blown out to send one’s prayers to the goddess herself. When you blow out your candles this year, send your wish to your birthday’s patron god, goddess or saint! If we look at the spiritual significance of one’s birthday, we see the day of someone’s birth is inherently a liminal time and space. This means you’re on the threshold of another year or cycle around the sun. Liminal space is powerful because it opens us to the spirit world. In that same breath, liminal space and therefore birthdays, were once considered a “dangerous” time too. A time when spirits and energies thereof could influence your life easily. Coming together as a group to celebrate an individual’s birthday was a means of protection. And check this out – singing, clapping and loud noises scares off evil spirits and bad luck! 1. Magical Birthdays: First, Let’s Talk About Your Zodiac SIGNS and Natal Chart So the first thing we typically think of when someone says “magical birthday” is our zodiac signs. For those who don’t know, you have more than just ONE zodiac sign. In fact, you have three main signs: your sun sign, moon sign, and rising (also called ascendant) sign. Your sun sign is the one we use to answer someone when they ask us what our sign is. The moon sign is dependent on your time of birth, date of birth and place of birth. Your rising sign has to do with your time of birth, as well. So find your birth certificate and input this information into an online moon and rising sign calculator to find yours! Why do you have three zodiac signs based on your birthday? Your sun signs defines your true identity. While your moon sign represents the emotional self. And your rising sign? That is the personality or side of you that you show to the world. Each of these 3 signs may be different, and in discovering this information, you may unlock information about yourself you didn’t know before. Don’t forget too, that your FULL birth natal chart will reveal even MORE about your personality, likes and dislikes, goals and achievements in life, shadows and much more. You can also use your zodiac element as your main form of magick. Listen to Allorah’s podcast episode all about Your Natal Chart: 2. Next, What About the Moon Phase on Your Birthday? Yes, this seems like it would be the same thing as your moon sign. But, alas, it’s not. You can find what moon phase you were burn under (meaning what phase the moon was in) by looking up your birthday online + moon phase. For example, enter “September 23rd moon phase” into Google and see what you find! Depending on what phase the moon was in on your magical birthday, this will affect how you experience the moon phases in your daily life. For example, I was born under a New Moon. Once I realized this, it made sense why I always feel energized and ready to make magick on the New Moon. While others seem to feel more pumped on the Full Moon. PLUS you can use this birthday moon phase knowledge to fuel your magical workings: spells, divination sessions, dreamwork, and much more! Born On a New Moon If you were born on a New Moon, you might notice you feel exhilarated, inspired, and motivated on the New Moon. Many people find it to be creepy, as it is the darkest part of the month but you feel differently. You feel good on a New Moon in many ways. You notice the air has a certain “magical” quality on the New Moon that it doesn’t have the rest of the month. Your energy is increased and your senses heightened. You get an urge to create, develop, or finish projects around the house or in business on the New Moon. People born under a New Moon might have some or all of these qualities: Born on a Waxing Moon Are you a waxing moon baby? The Waxing Moon is when the moon is in the process of growing to its full phase. Therefore when waxing moon babies go through the waxing moon phase each month, they tend to feel growth in many areas of their lives. This is the time they feel the best all month long! They feel inspired to grow their finances, family life, love, social life, etc. Again, the energy of the Waxing Moon will make you feel enlightened, alive, and vibrant. Look forward to the Waxing Moon each month and notice how it influences you in such a positive light! People born on a Waxing Moon have some or all of these qualities: Born On a Full Moon Oh Full Moon babies…such unique individuals! If you were born on a Full Moon, you are one of those people who feel best on a Full Moon (which is rare indeed!) Maybe you’ve always noticed how alive you feel on a Full Moon and you never quite understood why others […]

Solar Witch: How to Cast SUN MAGICK in 11 Ways https://otherworldlyoracle.com/solar-witch/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=solar-witch https://otherworldlyoracle.com/solar-witch/#comments Mon, 31 Aug 2020 02:51:30 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=5545 All these witches be talkin’ about the moon. Moon phases, rituals and moon water. But what about the witches who prefer the sun? Do they exist? Yes, we do! I know because I’m one of them. If you feel empowered by the sun more than the moon, you might be a solar witch. And if you’d just like to incorporate more sun magick into your practice, we’ve got you covered! A Solar Witch & The Sun’s Magick What makes the sun magical? Is it the same type of magick as the moon? The sun fuels all life on this planet. While the moon has a huge effect on us, and pulls the tides, I’d venture to say the sun is more important. If I had to choose one. (Lunar witches don’t be mad at me!) The sun is necessary for many reasons including the growth of plants and trees, for our own physical and mental health, and to keep our planet warm and alive! Sun = LIFE. 11 Ways to Make SUN MAGICK The way the solar witch makes sun magick is only limited by imagination and inspiration. Forge your own path, but if you need ideas: 1. Sunbathing Lunar witches love to dance in the moonlight. Conversely, solar witches love to SUNBATHE. A solar witch is fueled and energized by sunlight and warmth. In fact, solar witches often become depressed or ill without enough sunlight. Feeling down, sick or disconnected? Get out in the sun! 2. Magical Timing With the Sun The great thing about using the sun for timing spells and rituals is that you don’t have to wait for the moon phase to change. Sunrise, Noon, and Sunset are all powerful times to make magick. As are the days of the week. 3. Sun Water You’ve heard of moon water? Sun water is the same concept. Take a glass jar or bowl, fill it with water, and place in the sunlight to be charged. You can add a piece of citrine to further enhance the effects. Then use sun water in your spells, to cleanse and empower your tools and altar, add to the bath, etc. 4. Sun & Fire Plants For years I thought I had a black thumb. Then I realized the plants I could grow were ruled by the Sun or the Fire element (which is an element of the Sun). Plants ruled by the Sun include sunflowers, daisies, chamomile, rosemary, Saint john’s wort, cinnamon, rue, and many more. Grow, harvest and use them sun-linked herbs in your Solar witch practice. 5. Seasons & Sabbats Another way to honor the sun and incorporate it into your craft is to celebrate the sabbats (pagan holy days). The sabbats are holidays all centered around the position of the sun. And they correspond with the seasons. Change your altar with the seasons and sabbats AND make seasonal magick. 6. Sun Magick with Colors An easy way to make sun magick is with the use of colors. Orange and yellow are the colors of the sun. Wear the sun’s colors, decorate with them, and include the sun’s colors in your spells and rituals. 7. Sun Tea Sun tea – not only is it delicious, but it’s fun to make and WITCHY. This is literally tea brewed by the power of the sun. Get out a glass jar with an airtight lid. Fill it with water and herbs of your choice or teabags with added herbs like mint, stevia, chamomile, etc. Meanwhile visualize your intentions for this batch of tea. Then set it in direct sunlight and leave for a few hours for the sun to brew. Pour over ice and voila! 8. Solar Plexus Your solar plexus is arguably one of the most important chakras in your body. It’s located in the center of your torso just below your breast plate. It is the center of your vitality, your connection to the Sun, and your source of self confidence and esteem. Work on aligning and reopening your solar plexus with meditation, eating healthy, and personal affirmations. Solar witches have strong solar plexuses. 9. Sun Salutations The solar witch starts the day out with yoga sun salutations, sunrise positioning, and/or runic stadhas like the sowilo stadha to honor the sun. In addition, moving your body in tune with the sun promotes a healthy lifestyle, vitality and peaceful mind. 10. Sun Arts, Crafts, and Cooking In my opinion, the best way to make sun magick is with arts and crafts. The solar witch enjoys crafting sun catchers, sun prisms, and mosaics. Of if you prefer kitchen witchery, cook a dish infused with plants linked to the sun. Or bake sun bread. If you love to draw or paint, create something inspired by the sun and infuse your intentions into it. 11. Solar Deities for the Solar Witch If you want to dedicate your spiritual practice to the sun, consider working with a sun god or goddess. Solar deities include: Belenus, Amaterasu, Helios, Apollo, Hathor, Bast, Surya, Xihe, Tapati, Mithra, Shamash, Sol, Sunna, Lugh, Ra and Sekhmet. More MAGICK to Make! Spell Timing: Times of the Day to Cast and Manifest https://otherworldlyoracle.com/spell-timing-times-day/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=spell-timing-times-day https://otherworldlyoracle.com/spell-timing-times-day/#comments Thu, 30 Apr 2020 15:20:23 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=4968 Being drawn to the moon is a good thing, but it doesn’t help to have to wait for the moon phase to change if you need to cast and manifest today. Correspond your magick to the days of the week OR learn how to use the times of the day. Here we teach you spell timing for the sunrise, noon hour, sunset, midnight and witching hour to perform rituals and cast spells. Spell Timing: POWERFUL Sunrise Magick If you’re an early riser, getting up for sunrise won’t be difficult. But if you’re not an early riser, you might have to change your routine to cast some powerful magick with the sun’s waking hour. How does the sunrise fuel our intentions? “It’s always darkest before the dawn”, according to Florence Welch. So if you need to start something new and have the sun shine its light on a dark or confusing matter, this is potent sunrise magick. Sunrise magical intentions include: new opportunities, new love, peace, healing, new friendship, career change or promotions, financial relief, and spiritual enlightenment. Amplifying Noon Spells and Rituals I’ve always look at the noon hour as splitting the day in half. Noon and midnight are liminal hours (in-between hours). Noon hour magick is about balance but it can also be used to amplify any magical intention, particularly when drawing things to you like love, success, money, etc. Begin any intentional drawing spell before noon and end it at the noon hour. Any intentions to get rid of something or banish something start at the noon hour and end after (i.e. banishing bad habits, toxic relationships, etc.) The noon magical hour brings balance to any situation and amplifies any intention. Sunset Spell Timing for Saying Goodbye Any chapter of your life you’re ready to release can be done so at sunset. When the sun sets on the day, it will also set on your old way of life, old relationship, old job, etc. If you need to bury a spell or its remnants, its wise to bury it in the west, where the sun will set on it daily. Sunset magick is all about saying goodbye and banishing things from your life. It can bring peace and healing, as well as protection from enemies and intrusion. Sunset magical intentions include: banishing, binding, healing, protection, peace, rest and more. The Midnight Hour for Spell Timing The midnight hour has long been associated with the paranormal and witchcraft. Midnight is the start of a new twenty-four hour day AND it seems to be the time when the spirit world begins to stir. The energy changes when midnight rolls around. Similar to starting intention-positive spells before noon and ending at noon, you can do the same with midnight spells. And conversely, to banish or get rid of something start at midnight and finish after. When the hour hand of the clock is moving up towards 12, we grow intentions. When they’re moving down towards 6, we cast releasing intentions. The Witching Hour: Folklore and Divination Have you ever had a string of nights where you woke up at 3 AM every night? There’s something powerful about the hour between 3 and 4 in the morning. For centuries this hour’s been known as the Witching Hour. It’s also called the Devil’s Hour and the Un-holy Hour according to old folklore. The most paranormal activity, including spirits, ghouls, vampires, and witches sabbaths, were once said to happen between three and four AM. There are many theories why this hour is so formidable, needless to say, if you are awake during the Witching Hour, cast a circle (or create sacred space) and throw some tarot cards or runes down and see what happens! The veil between the physical and spiritual worlds is truly at its thinnest. And Yet Another Way to Do Things… If none of these times work for you, there’s yet another way to cast your magick – numerology. Each number, therefore time of day, has its own sacred meaning. Research what each number means and coordinate your magical intentions with the number/hour of the day appropriate. And again, if this doesn’t work for you, maybe you have certain times of the day that are sacred to you. Use those, too! Magical Days of the Week: Correspondences & Daily Energy https://otherworldlyoracle.com/magical-days-of-the-week/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=magical-days-of-the-week https://otherworldlyoracle.com/magical-days-of-the-week/#comments Wed, 22 Apr 2020 22:51:51 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=4958 Moon phases are a powerful way to time your rituals and magick. But did you know there’s other ways besides moon phases? What if you don’t have time to wait for the moon to grow full, can you use a specific day of the week? Of course you can. Here we look at the magical days of the week as another (quicker) option to time your rituals. 7 Magical Days of the Week and Their Correspondences Every day is magical; therefore, you can harness the energy of a specific magical day of the week instead of waiting for a planet to move or the moon to cycle. 1. Sunday Magick Sunday is named for…you guessed it…the Sun! So we can think of this weekday’s magick as everything related to the sun. Cast your spells and perform rituals on Sunday for the following intentions: growth, prosperity, strength, vitality, healing, opportunity, money and victory. Sunday’s magical correspondences: 2. Monday Magick We often dread Mondays, but Monday has a special kind of magick that might make you think differently. Monday is named after the Moon. Therefore, all magick related to the moon can also be performed on a Monday! No more waiting for the right moon cycle if you have an immediate need. Cast spells and perform rituals for the following intentions: love, healing, intuition, psychic abilities, dreams, emotional balance, friendship, purification, fertility, shadow and spirit work. Monday’s Magical Correspondences: 3. Tuesday’s Magick Tuesday’s name isn’t as easy to figure out. Tuesday is named after the Norse god of lightning, justice, and war – Tyr. When Tuesday rolls around, my mom and I say, Happy Tyr’s Day! Being that Tyr was a powerful god with strength and virility, the magick you perform on Tuesday should include: justice/legal issues, protection, binding, banishing, reversal, courage, power, passion, self esteem and confidence, and more. Not surprisingly, Tuesday is ruled by the planet Mars (also a god of war). Tuesday’s Magick Correspondences: 4. Wednesday’s Magick Wednesday is also a day that acquired its name from an old Norse god – Odin. In the Germanic, in particular Saxon tribes, he was also called Woten or Wodin, hence Wednes-day or Woden’s day. Odin is the All-Father in the Norse pantheon and rules wisdom, mischief, poetry, quests and the runes (among many other things). Wednesday is ruled by the planet Mercury, which rules communication and more. So, if you cast on Wednesday, it should be for one of the following intentions: communication (verbal and written), technology, cars/transportation, wisdom, clarity, spiritual growth or enlightenment, travel, psychic abilities, courage, divination (particularly the runes), and power. Wednesday’s Magical Correspondences: 5. Thursday’s Magick Thursday is named for one of our favorite Marvel characters and originally the Norse god of thunder – Thor. Thursday’s magick focuses on the following intentions: protection, power, male fertility, strength, purification, consecration, storm energy, and forest magick. In addition Thursday is ruled by the planet Jupiter, which is the planet of good luck, prosperity, health, career success, leadership, politics, legal matters, etc. Thursday’s Magical Correspondences: 6. Friday Magick Friday is a magical day of the week named for one of two goddesses: Freya or Frigg. Both are Norse goddesses and it’s debated whether Friday is named after one or the other. Some say they’re the same goddess, further complicating the matter. Freya and Frigg share similar qualities, which are good intentions for Friday magick: love, motherhood, marriage, emotions, female fertility, the household, passion, beauty, war and death. Friday is ruled by the planet Venus, Venus was also a goddess of love, passion, etc. When you think of Friday think the day of LOVE and passion. Friday Magic Correspondences: 7. Saturday Magick Saturday is named after the planet and god Saturn. Therefore everything Saturn rules is appropriate for magick on Saturdays including self improvement and transformation, knowledge-seeking, time, evaluating one’s personal values, banishing negativity and bad habits, etc. Saturday Magic Correspondences: Set Up Your Own Magical Days of the Week Routine Not everyone does complicated magick on a daily basis. In fact, most of us don’t. However, we can do little things to harness the energy of the magical days of the week by setting up a simple magical routine for each day. For example, tend your garden on Sunday, pull a tarot card on Monday, pray for protection on Tuesday, read a book on Wednesday, go for a nature walk on Thursday, wear rose quartz on Friday, and meditate for 10 minutes on Saturday. Make it your own and work it into your daily routine for extra benefits! More Magical Timing:

New Moon Magic: Cleansing Rituals, A New Job Spell and More! https://otherworldlyoracle.com/new-moon-magic/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=new-moon-magic https://otherworldlyoracle.com/new-moon-magic/#comments Fri, 24 Jan 2020 00:06:41 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=4550 The New Moon is a magical time in many ways. Some old books advise against working magic on a New Moon, but we know better! The New Moon is a start of a new lunar cycle and brings in fresh energy and positive change. Learn more about New Moon magic, and try out some of our suggestions for cleansing rituals and new opportunity spells! The Magic of a New Moon Why is the New Moon magical? The New Moon is the start of a new lunar cycle. Therefore, the energy from the last 28 days (the last lunar cycle) is cleared and new FRESH energy is beginning to flow in. This is a time to take advantage of the New Moon’s magic in various ways. Cleansing rituals are one of our top things to do on the New Moon. Why not head into a new lunar cycle with a fresh aura and purified sacred space? In addition to cleansing rituals, manifest new opportunities starting your magic on the New Moon. New opportunities for jobs, friends, love, travel, etc. New Moon Cleansing Bath Ritual My favorite thing to do for a new lunar cycle is a cleansing New Moon bath ritual. There are so many ways to take a spiritual cleansing bath, and so many things to include. But if you’re unsure or want to try out something new, here’s our New Moon Cleansing Bath Ritual to try. What You’ll Need: A clean bathtub Handful of flower petals Himalayan Pink Salt (one tablespoon) Lemon Juice (1/4 cup) Relaxing music, candles, incense of your choice (optional) How to Take a New Moon Cleansing Bath: Prepare the space. Cleanse the area by smudging or by sound (or whatever method you use to cleanse sacred space). Turn on relaxing music, light some candles, dim the lights and light incense, if you choose. Run the water at the temperature you like. Add the flower petals, salt and lemon juice. Allow it to steep in the tub as the water runs. When you’re ready, disrobe and hop in the tub. Relax, lean back, close your eyes and envision your aura as white light radiating from your body and all around you. Now, with your mind’s eye, see any negative energy residue in your aura as gray or black spots. Wash away those spots gently with the water. Take your time doing this. Next, you’ll want to pour the water over your head. You can either submerge yourself under the water OR use a cup and pour it completely over your head. As you do this, say, “with this water, I cleanse away all negativity. I invite peace and positivity to wash over and fill me.” Repeat this prayer at least three times and up to thirteen times. Let the words take on an existence of their own. Visualize yourself being washed clean from all negative influences. Once you feel you’ve been purified, emerge from the tub. Towel off from head to toe – don’t wipe! Pat yourself dry! Clean out your tub completely and go about your new lunar cycle! A SIMPLE New Job Spell for the New Moon The awesome refreshing magic brought in by a New Moon is great to use when you’re looking for a new job. Here’s our new moon ritual for a new job: What You’ll Need: White or silver candle Candle holder (if needed) Lighter/matches Moonstone (one small piece is plenty!) Knife or pin Small bag or sachet How to Cast the New Job Candle Spell: Cleanse your space per your preference (smudging, sweeping, etc.) Cleanse your supplies: the candle, moonstone, any candle holders, knife or pin. Cast a circle (OPTIONAL) and/or pray protection from your guides/ancestors/gods. Hold the candle up to your mouth and speak your intention to it (i.e. “may this candle’s flame, wax and wick act as a conduit to bring me a new job, bringing freedom and prosperity freely. So mote it be.”) Next, take your knife or pin and careful write/carve your intention into the candle wax from bottom to top. This draws something towards you. You can write a specific job OR write the qualities you’re looking for in a new job. Symbols and runes are also great to include! Light the candle and place it in its holder, if it needs one. Next take the moonstone and hold it in your hands. Close your eyes and envision the moonstone as a piece of the Moon itself. Say, “may this New Moon’s energy flow through this stone freely and bring me a new job for the highest good. So mote it be.” Place the moonstone directly beside the candle to allow their energy to fuel each other. Once the candle is burned down completely, gather the remaining wax and the moonstone. Put it in a small bag or in your wallet/purse and carry it on you until your new job manifests. More New Moon Magic to Try! There are so many enchanting things to try on the New Moon! Waning Moon Magic: Binding, Banishing and Releasing Rituals https://otherworldlyoracle.com/waning-moon-magic-rituals/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=waning-moon-magic-rituals https://otherworldlyoracle.com/waning-moon-magic-rituals/#comments Tue, 14 Jan 2020 18:05:42 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=4459 We all know the Waxing Moon helps us grow our intentions and the Full Moon helps us manifest. But what does the Waning Moon do for us magically? The Waning Moon is a time when we release, banish, and decrease things in our lives. Learn the best magic to do on a Waning Moon and try a few of our Waning Moon Rituals and Spells. What is Waning Moon Magic? The Waning Moon is a powerful time during the month. Can’t tell if the moon is waning? If the dark side is on the right and the left side is illuminated, it’s a Waning Moon in the Northern Hemisphere. It will be the opposite for you, if you live in the Southern Hemisphere – the right side will be illimuniated on a Waning Moon. Everyone loves a good Full Moon, but we often forget the power of a Waning Moon. Now’s the time embrace the magic of the Waning Moon! When the moon wanes, this means we see less and less of it until a new moon cycle begins again. When the moon is “shrinking”, any magic done to release, banish, lessen, bind, etc. is that much more potent. Releasing Waning Moon Rituals To release something means to let it go freely. Sometimes we hold onto things in our lives that no longer serve us. These things often hold us back from reaching our full potential. Old toxic relationships, buried emotions, failures, and bad habits are just a few things that should be released on a Waning Moon. Waning Moon Rituals for releasing include writing the thing on a piece of paper and burning it. Imbuing the intention into a black candle and burning it all the way down. Writing it on paper and releasing it in the wind on top of a hill/mountain. And cord cutting rituals are great for Waning Moon releasing. Banishing Waning Moon Rituals Sometimes we have to go beyond a releasing ritual and banish something from our lives. This is a more powerful way to kick something out of your life for good – to banish it from existence in your life. Banishing rituals include making a spell bottle or jar and sending it downstream OR leaving it at a crossroads far from home. Exorcism rituals to remove ghosts or unwanted spirits from the house are also banishing rituals AND should be done on a Waning Moon. Binding and Reversal Spells on a Waning Moon Other forms of magic to be done on a Waning Moon include bindings and reversals. This is a “gray” area of magic, but if you’re going to do it, you have your reasons. And if you can do it on the Waning Moon – this is best. Waning means to go backwards or decrease, so reversals on a Waning Moon are more powerful. Binding a situation or a person from doing harm involves using a photo or paper with the person’s name, folding it up in a packet or in a bag, then tying a red string around it 9 times while visualizing the person or situation bound from doing evil. Binding rituals are ancient and have been traced to Ancient Egypt! Burnt Petition Releasing Ritual for the Waning Moon If you have something in your life you just need to let go and put behind you, a releasing ritual on the Waning Moon is right for you. Here’s our burnt petition releasing ritual: What You’ll Need: How to do the Releasing Ritual: 2nd Releasing Ritual: By Fire & Ash, Banish At Last First, I want to remind you it’s best to release, banish, bind, etc. on a Waning Moon. I know there’s a ton of information in Pinterest and circulating FaceBook that tells people to release on a Full Moon. BUT truly a Waning Moon is for diminishing things in our lives. The Full Moon is for manifesting. Keep that in mind. What You’ll Need: What to Do: General Reversal Spell for the Waning Moon If you’re in the magical community OR do magic for a living, it’s wise to do a regular reversal ritual on each Waning Moon. Even if you might not see or recognize any “bad magic” thrown your way, a reversal spell will get rid of any evil eye or jealous vibes coming at you. This also works to reverse the magic back at someone if you k now for sure they’re sending magic to you! Just tailor the words in this waning moon ritual to meet your intentions. What You’ll Need for this Waning Moon Reversal Spell: How to do the Reversal Ritual: Simple Weight Loss Waning Moon Spell A popular spell to do on the Waning Moon is a weight loss spell. All you need for this weight loss waning moon spell is you and the Waning Moon! Go outside and find the Waning Moon. Gaze at it, visualize what it looked like full and now see it as decreased in size. Pray to the Moon, “Oh wise and healthy Crone Moon, see me in my most purest form. Aid me in achieving my health goals and releasing the extra weight unfit for my body. So be it.” Pray this as many times as you’d like and feel the moon’s energy pulling the weight off of you! Follow up with drinking water, eating healthy options AND moving your body more! MORE Moon Magic:

Dark Moon Rituals: Divination for Shadow Work & Past Lives https://otherworldlyoracle.com/dark-moon-rituals/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=dark-moon-rituals https://otherworldlyoracle.com/dark-moon-rituals/#comments Tue, 24 Dec 2019 19:24:54 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=3876 The Dark Moon is the few days before a New Moon when the moon seems to be completely gone from the sky. Traditionally, some witches of the past told us not to cast magick or do ritual on the dark moon. But if you heed their warnings, you’ll never realize just how powerful the Dark Moon is. Here we give the serious caster two dark moon rituals: one for shadow work and the other to recall past lives. Dark Moon Energy: Confronting the Abyss While some people may be scared of doing magick or ritual on the Dark Moon, I recommend it for those who feel drawn to its power. The energy is akin to staring into the dark abyss and learning to love it. When the moon is dark, the night is even darker. This is a time to turn inward, look at our shadow selves, and bring our monsters into the light. Once they’ve been brought to the light, we see them for what they are and we can start the process of healing and integrating. The dark moon energy is also beneficial when performing past life regression and recall. It brings hidden things to the surface including past life memories. Let’s not forget that certain deities were born of the darkness and are inextricably linked to the Dark Moon. Therefore, waiting for a Dark Moon to invoke these deities is beneficial and ultimately the best timing. A few of those deities may include Hecate, Lilith, Persephone, Aradia, The Morrigan, Anubis, Kali, etc. A Dark Moon Scrying Ritual for Shadow Work What You’ll Need: Warning: With shadow work, you’re bringing secrets, past memories, and sometimes PAINFUL memories to the surface. If you’re not prepared to deal with the reality of your decisions and intense emotions, it’s not time for you to do shadow work. There’s a polarity with shadow work on the Dark Moon that is undeniable: we wait until the darkest nights to bring out shadows “into the light”. Full Moon Ritual Ideas + Rituals for Healing and Love https://otherworldlyoracle.com/full-moon-ritual-ideas/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=full-moon-ritual-ideas https://otherworldlyoracle.com/full-moon-ritual-ideas/#comments Mon, 25 Nov 2019 20:25:23 +0000 https://otherworldlyoracle.com/?p=4039 When I look up at the Full Moon, I know she’s looking down on me. I feel her healing and loving vibrations gently lighting the night sky and touching my heart. The Full Moon is a time to manifest. It’s a time to make things happen. Here are MY personal full moon ritual ideas for healing and love, as well as a look at the full moon ritual herbs I use on a monthly basis. Full Moon Ritual Ideas Using the 4 Elements 1. The Water Element Every provoking full moon ritual idea typically involves the water element in some form. Why? Because the moon is directly related to water – it pulls on the ocean’s tides AND effects our lives because we’re made up of 60%+ water. Some types of full moon rituals with water include ritual baths, making moon water, and full moon baptisms. We will go into each of these in detail below. Take a Ritual Bath on the Full Moon IMO one of the best ways to get the most of the full moon’s magick is to take a ritual bath. It sounds super fancy but it doesn’t take much. All you need is a bathtub in a quiet space, and maybe some body-friendly herbs, salts, and oils to add to the bath. Some of our favorite ritual bathing herbs include rose, chamomile, lavender, calendula, and jasmine. If you don’t have these herbs just lying around, add a few drops of essential oils to the bath. Or maybe some epsom salts. At the very least, put on some relaxing, witchy music and burn a candle. Sit back and meditate. Make Moon Water Making Full Moon water is as easy as leaving a vessel of water out under the moonlight to soak up its rays and energy. We recommend using a glass jar or bottle with an airtight lid. Fill it nearly to the top then cap it. Set it out when the moon rises and bring it inside before the sunlight hits it. Some witches also enjoy adding herbs, crystals (non-soluble and non-toxic), etc. to their full moon water. Then use that water to cleanse your tools, altar, crystals, add it to your ritual bath, add a cup to your laundry, the choices are endless! Be careful drinking moon water, as water has the potential to collect microbes (bacteria, fungi, etc.) when left out too long. 2. The Fire Element If you’re more of a fire person, that’s okay too! The fire element can be harnessed with candle rituals on the Full Moon that are SUPER effective! Bonfires are also fun as part of full moon ritual. What’s better than being outside, sitting by a fire, with the Full Moon’s light shining down on you? Fire scrying is part of having a full moon bonfire, or petition papers thrown into the fire under the moon’s gaze. 3. Full Moon Air Magick Something that’s really fun and whimsical to do is to blow bubbles in the moonlight. Think I’m crazy? Give it a try. You’re combining multiple elements, air and water, in this easy ritual. If you have kids that can’t seem to give you any free time, get them involved. I don’t know a single kid or person who doesn’t enjoy blowing bubbles. Plus, allowing them to soak up the moon’s rays, then reading their flight patterns is magical and relaxing. If the bubbles aren’t your thing, scrying with smoke is an air element ritual OR simply go outside and let the breeze talk to you. 4. Full Moon Earth Rituals Whenever I’m in the kitchen, I feel grounded. I feel close to my ancestors. And I feel closer to the earth. If you can’t get outside on the next esbat, consider making some magick in your kitchen. Brew a full moon tea, make moon cookies, or simply make an offering to your ancestors by way of the hearth. All full moon activities that invoke the earth element and your ancestors. If you don’t want to be in the kitchen, green witches should consider growing a moon garden with flowers that bloom in the full moon. Moonflower, night blooming jasmine, evening primrose, and night phlox are just a few amazing plants to add to your moon garden. Charging Your Tools and Crystals in the Moonlight A popular ritual nowadays, and for good reason, is to charge your crystals and tools in the full moon’s light. Place your crystals, stones, amulets, charm bags, and magical tools in a safe, dry place under the moonlight. Allow the moon to charge your beloved items with its loving, powerful vibrations. Then remove your items before the sun comes up. If you’d like to learn more about charging via the moonlight click here. Try This SIMPLE Full Moon Ritual for Healing the Soul This full moon ritual for healing is specifically to heal a broken heart OR wounded soul. Have you been hurt and need inner healing? Time to heal yourself with the light of the Full Moon. What You’ll Need: Green or Blue clothing Somewhere you can see the Full Moon How to Perform the Ritual: Take a shower visualizing a white light cleansing your aura or cleanse yourself with smudge smoke. Dress in all blue or green clothing. Blue is linked to healing but gree is linked to the heart chakra (choose one or both!) Go outside to a place where you can see the Full Moon AND where you won’t be disturbed. Sit down or lie down, whatever is comfortable, and look up at the Full Moon. Feel the Full Moon’s healing light illuminating your entire being. Close your eyes and feel the moonlight move through you, from head to foot, soothing and healing any and all holes in your aura or soul. State, “with the light and love of the Full Moon, may my heart and soul be healed and shine bright tonight.” Repeat this prayer until you feel whole. Full Moon Ritual for Love Everyone wants […]
