We live in a modern world and use modern contraptions. Why not embrace technology for magical purposes, too? Here’s our list of the best FREE witchy apps, including mobile apps for tarot, crystals, herbs, astrology, and spells. I have personally downloaded and tested each one. Find these apps in the Google Playstore for Android or find them in the Apple App store on iPhone. Be aware these apps will give you ads when you log into them sometimes, which is what makes them free.
First, What is Technopaganism?
Technopaganism is a branch of neo-paganism in which modern-day technology is considered a part of spirituality and can also be used in magical endeavors. The technopagan may believe modern devices such as mobile phones, computers, vehicles, and even architecture, have their own associated spirits or gods. They also believe in embracing technology as an inherent part of spiritual growth and use the computer to store a Book of Shadows or spiritual journal. Mobile witchy apps are used to look up magical and spiritual information.
Best FREE Tarot and Oracle Apps
1. Classic Rider-Waite Tarot App
In my opinion, the best free Tarot app available for android is the Classic Rider-Waite Tarot App. When you’d like a quick tarot reading, but you don’t have the cards on you, open this app and divine a message! Not only is it easy to use, but the tarot card spread categories are extensive. There are four categories with eleven spreads total to choose from. The categories include card spreads for love, career, and self exploration. Pick a single card reading or multiple card readings. In addition, save the card spreads that truly spoke to you to revisit later.
2. Spirit Animal Oracle Cards App
I’m a big fan of spirit animal medicine. But I can’t always be outside to receive a live message from nature. The spirit animal oracle cards app is perfect for a quick spirit animal reading. This witchy app has beautiful graphics and is user friendly. Flip one or multiple cards for a reading. The only downside to this app is there are only eleven animal cards in the deck. To acquire more animal cards, one must buy the full version.
Astrology and Moon Apps
3. Natal Charts with Transits
Instead of paying an astrology service to map your full birth natal chart, download this FREE witchy app! Seriously, this is a must-have for the tech witch who is interested in astrology. You’ll need to input your birthday, birth time, and location of your birth at the beginning, so have this information handy. The app tells your rising sign, moon sign, and sun sign and explains each in detail. It breaks down your planetary aspects, planets in the signs, planetary houses, and gives you a display of your natal wheel. Every day you can open this witchy app and see your horoscope based on your natal chart! The app’s prediction for my day today was uncanny. Scary uncanny.
4. Moon Phase Calendar
Every magical person needs a moon app on their phone. The problem is there are dozens to choose from! The Moon Phase Calendar app is easy to use and gives you a full month’s lunar cycle, plus daily moon and sun statistics (sunrise, noon, sunset). I haven’t seen any sun stats with other witchy apps, so I found this pleasantly surprising. But the best part about this witchy app? New Moon and Full Moon notifications! When life gets too busy you forget when the next new moon is, this app will notify you in advance (just be sure to set up the notifications when you download it). Pretty rad.

Makes a great addition to any…
5. Daff Moon
Another handy moon app for the tech witch – this one gives you the sign in which the moon is stationed. I.E. Full Moon in Aquarius. This is useful information for anyone who aligns to the lunar phases. It also lists planetary info including whether they are visible to the naked eye. Solstices and equinoxes are listed in the sidebar, as well as eclipses and a summary of astronomical events. For me, a quick look at this moon app is all I use it for as some of the scientific info. is over my head.
6. SkyView Free
I use SkyView to locate specific constellations, stars, and planets. This is a helpful app, particularly if you like working with cosmic energy and timing in your rituals and spells. If you’re fascinated by the night sky or are drawn to a particularly bright star, hold your phone up and this witchy app will tell you the name!
Best Wiccan Apps
7. Wicca Calendar
This tech witch app gives you quick access to the Wheel of the Year. It tells you what the next sabbat is and gives a countdown. A few other cool features include phases of the moon (which you won’t necessarily need if you have a moon app), a glossary of Wiccan terms, and a spot for a mobile Book of Shadows (which is really just a notes section within the app). For beginners, this witchy app is perfect to remind you what sabbat is next.
8. Wiccan and Witchcraft Spells
This app is super handy if you need ideas for spells. It lists various types of spells from animal spells to curse removal to protection spells and weight loss spells (and everything in between). In each category, there are at least a dozen easy spells to try out. If you don’t like something, you can always tailor it to fit your needs. Also use it to inspire your own spells and rituals.
Herb, Crystal, Ghost, & Rune Witchy Apps
9. Wicca Herbarium
The Wicca Herbarium is my favorite herb app I’ve found so far. It lists herbs A-Z, the aesthetics are pretty, and you can search by name of the plant. Each herb pops up as a card, then after selecting the card, the herb’s scientific name is given plus its habitat, properties, planetary associations, and element. This app links to the Wicca Calendar app described above. Two useful witchy apps for your phone bank.
10. Crystals Light App
If you don’t know your crystals and you can’t afford a big crystal bible, download the free Crystals Light App. While the crystal list isn’t extensive, it goes over the basic crystals and their uses. Some of my favorite crystals listed are rose quartz, turquoise, tiger’s eye, moonstone, tourmaline, and lapis lazuli. It’s like a small crystal pamphlet right at your fingertips!
11. Ghost Radar
While some attest this ghost hunting app is false, I’ve had some rather creepy results using it. A radar screen is the first thing you see and it will show you if it picks up on any ghosts in the vicinity. Turn on the voice feature and the app will pick up on ghostly communications. Creepy but fun and great for people interested in the otherworld.
12. Rune App
Probably my absolute favorite of all witchy apps is the Rune App. Not only is it beautifully laid out and easy to use, it makes me feel as if I’m using actual runes. All 24 Elder Futhark runes are detailed, and you can save your rune “castings” to analyze at a later time. This is a wonderful app if you’re learning the runes or just want to have a handy way of reading runes on the go!
13. PlantSnap: A Witchy App for Plant Identification
If you’re a green witch or hedge witch, you’ll be happy to know there’s a witchy app for plant identification. It’s not “witchy” per se, but every green witch has to have the ability to ID a new herb, tree, or flower growing in her area. Luckily, PlantSnap has versions for Android and Apple phones.
I know it’s not everybody’s cup of tea but I really like the Black Grimoire android app by Blue Rose Coven. Downside 1st ~ there doesn’t appear to be an iTunes app, and the emphasis on anything that makes use of anything black, be it spells or candles… Etc… Etc… is almost always termed evil magic meant to harm, or even kill… 🤨 Also there are a few spells that you supposedly have to read the incantation in Latin, but as the “experts” say Latin is a dead language so their probably written in some version of gobbledygook, or something out of a D&D game book that’s as yet unknown to the masses. 😝 also there are a few spells that are right out of Charmed or the Craft movies! 🤦♀️ Now for the good things. I have found some really good protection, weather, luck, love & a lot more positive spells, and even covers old magic’s like knot & cord, health, trick, revenge (from what I can tell most of the spells in this category are minor annoyance spells), & ritual spells, & even has a witches dictionary, & a herbs from A 2 Z list. Ok next there’s the Numerology android app plus a tunz of other magical apps by the WebAppDev company, a lot of the things you can explore in this companies apps feature AI technology which makes the magical technique or even the fortune teller app more scarily accurate. Lastly I know this isn’t an app but a website which is a good thing as you don’t have to feel left out if there’s not an iTunes app. I found this site randomly in a search engine because I wanted to explore sigil magic but have less than stellar drawing skills. The website located at “https://psychicscience.org/” has a lot of AI powered automatic magical tools and even fun features like their Spirit Board (Ouija) Game, & a Psychic Slot Machine. This webpage is a great add on companion to all of the other tech savvy magical apps included on both your list, & the lists from all of the sister/brother witches that have contributed to in the comments. Hope my apps & the webpage are helpful to all! 🧹🧙 Blessed Be! 🧙♀️🪄
I truly appreciate this post. I have been looking all over for this! Thank goodness I found it on Bing. You’ve made my day! Thx again!
I’m just starting my journey into witchcraft am looking forward to learning so much
I am so excited
Best part about the moon phase apps is that they have a moon widget you can add to your home screen and it shows the phase of the moon. It’s the best!
I wish you had included a link to Google play & iTunes so we know to exact name of the app and can find one easily
All you do is search for the app in your store on your phone. Not difficult.
You say “not difficult” but if you search whats been written for each heading it doesnt always come up… such as “rune app”. You get several apps for runes, but none specifically called that.
If it’s not called that, then it’s no longer offered. Sorry. Also, this is for Android and the article was written a year or more ago.
I know this is months later but it is (now) called Runes by Ivan Stano. Found it about halfway down Google Play when I searched Rune app 🙂
Yes me to
I really like using the galaxy tarot app if you haven’t checked it out you should it is really good.
What do I need to do if I’m interested in learning more
